Stock Exhaust - Is The Gtr Better Than The Gtst
Beer Baron replied to benl1981's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
consider using thicker wall mild steel pipe. in my experience it definately cuts down some of the resonance and 'drone' and helps mute the note a little too. thin walled stainless pipe is always loud and resonates a lot. -
yeah it's been out for about 2 years or so, but defi do not retail it for OS markets. nothing to stop you buying one in japan though Dane, if you really want one I can grab you one from japan. much cheaper than $2800 for sure. I say do it, you will have the first one in aus that I know about.
-
about $2500. it's universal.
-
Get the defi sports cluster! very nice. pretty good value too, I would say quite a bit cheaper than the stack or MXL dashes: lot's of cool features and of course logging capability.

what brand of gauge is it?

you have always been a star to me chris.

330-350awkw Bolt On List For Gtr?
Beer Baron replied to QIK_GTR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
agree with that 100%. if you just wanted cam gears you would be up for: new timing belt $150 for a good one tensioner and idler $40 each water pump if needed $150 cam gears trust ones are very good (I have them on current engine, and tomei one new engine) about $300 from memory labour, probably $200 or $300 to fit them tuning say $250 so yeah overall it's an expensive excercise, but if you have already maximised most other parts of your set-up it's worth doing, and if you are due for a timing belt change then you'd be crazy not to do it. and if you just do it anyway think of it as preventative maintenance. -
330-350awkw Bolt On List For Gtr?
Beer Baron replied to QIK_GTR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yeah to me cam gears are a poor mans cam upgrade. and if your engine is a bit old then new timing belt, water pump and tensioner/idler is not a bad idea anyway, so while you are at it whack on the cam gears (wont cost anymore than a normal timing belt change, well maybe $50 tops). then next time you are getting a tune get them adjusted. from memory the guy that tuned mine spent about 1.5 hours doing it and cost me about $200-$250 in tuning. made good gains. about 30kw in the mid range and maybe 15-20kw top end. for the money it was worth it. car felt and even sounded much nicer. also, I was already running 14psi on factory sized turbos so 3 or 4 more pound boost wasn't really what I wanted to do. on the new engine though I've got cams and cam gears, and valve springs as stock cams and gears will only take you so far. -
New Bushes, Set Up Right?
Beer Baron replied to masTers's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
yeah ideally you want them both to look like the top one. but can that tube be rotated? -
I would say it's either clutch slip, or transfer case slip. very unlikely it's wheel spin. even in purely RWD your car will not be lighting up the tyres every gearshift with just 260kwatw. what tyres are you runing though?

reving it much past about 6400-6500 is a waste of time. rev it to 8000 at your peril.

Where To Buy Aussie Drift Dvds
Beer Baron replied to Beer Baron's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
lol, well I have a couple of friends competing in various series around japan and they ask me lots of questions about drift and circuit racing in aus whenever I am over there. They are in love with robbie bolgers monaro (after I sent some pics and a small clip one year) and can't believe anyone would me insane enough to drift in such a tank (notwithstanding chasers, crestas etc etc). I just thought it would be nice. I'm not buying them for random people. just friends of mine who live in japan and yes I can bring you some vegimite. -
Hi guys, I want to buy some aussie drift DVDs, like ones covering drift australia etc. Surely there must be some out there? I just want to buy some to give as presents to some friends in japan when I'm back there in a couple of weeks. any help much appreciated.

done. (well edited anyway). I found it in the annals.

R32 Gtr Sumitomos -> Brembos
Beer Baron replied to Brood's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I encountered a similar problem. every one told me the brembos are 1.25 but they looked much coarser to me. 1.5 looked about right. grab some M12X1.5 bolts and see how you go. -
Need Help Understanding How The License Points Are Deducted!
Beer Baron replied to nismoWOG's topic in New South Wales
for the last time you don't have points that get deducted. you start with zero and you accumulate demerit points. so I'm assuming you are on your ps which means you can incur a maximum of 4 demerit points before loosing your licence. you have 2 points currently. you plan to go for your green ps before paying your fines which allows you to incur 7 demerit points. just do it. you have nothing to lose. if you are wrong then you will lose your licence. but if you pay them now you lose it anyway so what's the difference? -
yep UAS sell the noltec arms. good prices too. tell johnny you are an SAU member and he may even give a discount I bought mine at UAS. I don't know what that guy was talking about in the other thread, but from looking at that pic the R32 front ikeya upper arms are not adjustable at all (just like the R32 cusco front upper arms). I have the ikeya catalogue here somewhere, if I can find it I will double check.
-
yeah they are not adjustable. sorry

Who Bought The Damaged R33 Gtr At Pickles Auction On Wednesday?
Beer Baron replied to drifter 33's topic in New South Wales
nice attitude. and you are completely wrong. I've damaged my car at the track before. I have comprehensive insurance. and unlike this gentleman I was captured on any photos, or footage. probably only 1 or 2 witnesses and even then none saw my number plate. so I'm sure it's possible I could have submitted a fraudulent claim and gotten the payout. did I do it? no way. I know of a couple of people here who have damaged their cars at the circuit (none are ham fisted enough to do it at the start line of a drag race though) and none that I know of have comitted fraud in order to save themeselves some money. -
I'm 90% sure ikeya don't make adjustable front R32 upper control arms. to be honest I didn't think the ikeya products were all that. they are ok, and fairly well prices but the cusco stuff is nicer.

Hoons Cars Will Be Destroyed And Footage Will Be Shown
Beer Baron replied to Auto Group Buy's topic in New South Wales
yeah I know, but that's part of my point. who determines what is street racing? what is just speeding? what is just speeding beside/near a car that also happens to be speeding? that's the problem, the whole thing is very subjective.
