I know right, what's getting me is he came in here asked us out opinions and then when we give then to best of the knowledge we have learnt over the years which is mostly spot on and its not what he wanted to hear he gets defensive and slaps us in the face by telling us cause we don't do it for living we must have no idea and does what he was going to in the first place, so why on earth ask a question you don't want the answer to What worse is he will make good power then go around misleading everyone by telling everyone its cause of the 272 duration without realising the whole time it was the 10.8mm lift, I just hope one day he gets to try the same car setup the same way with the only change being the cams back to the 260s with the same lift we advised him to get in the first place so he can learn what we already have A smart man learns from his experiences, a smarter man learns from other people's

It sounds like you have it all sorted then, Rob is very good at what he does so no doubt it will give a good result which I'd dear say you'll post up when done yeah ?

He hand builds 500 motors a year, really in 365 days, well I'll tell you what, I don't build motors for a living or work on cars for a living for that matter, its a hobby for me and I have done all the setup and building of both my cars My R32 GTR with stock turbos and most every thing else except for a few select parts I chose myself makes 293rwkw and has run 11.1@123mph, how does your mates motors go My R34 GTR I designed and built from the ground up myself with the factory look being the only restrictor made 623hp at all 4 and still have to do cams and hope weather dependent will run it tomorrow night Don't be mistaking tool, I'm not some dyno show car whore and a pretty peaky graph doesn't excite me, my cars are built to go fast One thing I have learnt over the years is just because you do it for a living doesn't mean your any good and personally I wouldn't touch a spool engine, maybe that's why he sends them overseas, cause I'm not alone

Piglet's Rebuild Of His Busted Tomei 2.8

OS88 is cheaper with a high power rating, the pound is pounding us ATM -
Probably the same reason he had 272 with 8 something lift
-
I got absolutely nothing useful from that, other then the fact they have a cam grinder which must mean they must have real world experience of what effect different cams do in different cars at different settings etc etc, sarcasm, just in case you missed it If they know so much and are so good why doesn't every one use their cams The info this guy needs is already in this thread from people that have been there and done it in these particular cars but for some reason he want to overlook it, seems to me he has already made up his mind and is looking for validation of his decision

XKLABA replied to PAV34's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Factory stickers are usually a good sign its genuine, like the white one on this one -
Thanks mate, they seem to run good, hard to tell how good they are but the car runs very nice, I did forget to ask duty cycle though he did run it up to 30psi where it ran out of spark

Twi Plate Bite Very High In The Paddle, Why?
XKLABA replied to GD51LA's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
At the back of the pedal, there is a locking nut then you turn the shaft in to the pedal to lower the pedal height -
Piglet's Rebuild Of His Busted Tomei 2.8
XKLABA replied to Piggaz's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
What he will be doing is changing gears a lot more, he has a big power band and a mountain of torque which means he can easily drive the "wrong " gear, been able to hold gears is easier and faster, with that much power you want taller gears to help settle the car and make less rail happy out of corners And when driving the car on the freeway it will be reving higher then it needs to and this is a street car first and formost -

I have pretty much the same power as Paul in my 34 and if you leave the 4.11 ratio in with a getrag your crazy, 1st and 2nd are to short in mine with the 3.545s let alone 4.11s -

Just saying, go sequential, you won't look back PPGs are strong, how strong is a different matter, the BSM car went through a few of em to while they still had restrictors in limiting power to about 300rwkw, very torquey motor though And for what it is going to cost to set up the Getrag your not far off the OS88 -
For you maybe, the one that spends more time polishing then driving
-
Not me mate, double demerits, car is safely locked in the shed Poor R34, some people don't deserve nice cars
-
bugger, you beat me to it the other thing that concerns me is the belt, it is basically a rubber band after all, and yes, all in the name of powah and going fast
-
No, big lift is taking up by the springs, it's because of the ramp rate/how fast the valves will be forced open
-
IIRC it was about 800nm @ about 5200rpm the cams I am hoping to get done are going to be hard on the valve train and since I have a few cars it doesn't matter if it sits around for a bit here and there, for a every day car Pauls ones from Unigroup are what I recommend, 260 x 10.8, this I have already posted in your thread I went from 260 x 9.15 lift back to 250 x 9.15 lift on the old 2.6 and it made the same peak power just 800rpm sooner
-
Thanks guys, it only been 2 1/2 years coming I quite like the RSs on the 3.0, there's good drive down low and they push all the way to 8k makes it nice to drive and gives it plenty of punch when asked ah yes and we know you know all about big singles

Tyre Size Difference 265 Vs 275
XKLABA replied to SiR_RB's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tire-brand.jsp Have a look through here, they have all the dimensions for most tyres I have Z222 RS3s in 275/35/19 on 19x9.5 rims stacked up next to Z221s in 265/35/18 and believe it or not the 265s are higher so wider and their from the same maker -
If I get a few minute I will, doing some more on the reno at home tomorrow
-
I've been saying that for nearly a decade now, small duration with big lift for these engines and people are getting on board with it now as wellNot sure on final specs but fairly confidant it'll be 252 @ 11.1mm lift, 220@ 50"
-
As Paulie said, bottom end, every thing
-
Haha yeah goes ok, buts its never finished you know that Stock head with BC springs, the 250s are heaps the lift is restricting it a bit, bring on the customs ones Keys, yeah but it's kings cross rules
