Soundclip Of Straight 4" Exhaust On A Rb26?
XKLABA replied to ISLIDE013's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
i just went from 80mm cat back to twin 3" into single 4" and it is quieter then the 80mm -
You have hangover at 6 am, you quit to early, hangover are meant to happen after midday

A few hundred RPM in response, not really that noticeable, but the flat spot when the wastegate opened was for me atleast

r32 -r33-r34 dump pipe are all different, the r32 one are crap, the r33 ones are a massive improvement and the r34 ones are improved again, if you are looking for a budget upgrade then the r34 ones would be my pick for your setup with 2.75 into 3.5 front pipes, 3.5 cat and catback the reduction of back pressure from the turbo outlet creates a bigger pressure difference between manifold and exhaust this inturn forces the exhaust gases through the turbo at greater speeds which means the turbine will accelerate much faster increasing response ( just a different way of saying what GTSboy has previously said ) I use CES split dump pipes on both my cars and I swear by them, the problem with split dumps is if they aren't made right they can cause issues where the wastegate gases rejoin the main flow and create turbulence and inturn backpressure, if made right they are the best setup IMO and my 32 is proof of that, as for bellmouth dumps they are very hard to get wrong and give alot more consistency form one brand to another I have had HKS dump pipes and very much dislike them and the Xforce ones are a cheap copy, I went from stock R34 dumps to HKS dump and that was a small step backwards, I then replaced them with the CES comp series ones and that was a massive improvement over both, that was on a stock 2.6 with type R poncams and -7s

I can't wait, hopefully I'll get the first set the smaller base circle fixes the clearance problem, by reducing the base circle by 2mm and shimming the bucket up 2mm means the point of the cam can be the same diameter from center of cam as stock but pushes the bucket down the extra 2mm to end up at the same height as stock but having the shim 2mm thinker means the valve is 2mm further down, hope this makes sense, i'm all sorts of cut ATM

depends on funds and how far you want to go, I like Pauls cams but that is a fair chunk of cash the type Rs would be a good start and relatively cheap, 9.3mm lift is about as far as the stock springs will stand and IIRC about 9.5mm for head clearance on older heads with stock 32mm base circle which is why most high lift cams now have a 30mm base circle allowing 11.5mm lift just have to reshim ( which is a good idea with any cam change )

thanks for txt Paulie, I went from 260 type B to 250 type R poncams, same peak power just everything happened 800-1000 rpm earlier on a stock 2.6 with -7s Paul, your cams are what I would think are near perfect in lift v duration, and XKLABA only has two As

I have been interested in the FP HTA turbos for a while, but where would we buy them from, is there a dealer in Australia or do we order them from the US I'd like to see how a pair of GT2868r HTAs go on a 26 or stroked 26

sort of, boost isn't either on or off it is throttle dependent and being able to feed the throttle and have the boost go with it is the best setup IMO I'll use the 32 as example as it is setup right and the 34 isn't finished yet, I drive it between 2-3k rpm with part throttle and some boost, makes it very responsive and easy to drive and I have plenty of power available from 2k on to 7500rpm if needed, the car got 615km from a tank 4 weeks ago makes 293rwkw @ 19psi and has run 11.1 @ 123 mph

you live to far far away, I'm am hoping to get to the next nationals

I was requested to post this, I think just to stir the pot a bit I had the exhaust on my 34 GTR done today, it had ces comp series dumps and front to 80mm HKS 150 cell cat to 80mm apexi catback, no restrictors in it, all 80mm it has ces dump pipes twin 3" through twin 3" 100 cell cats with 5" bodies in to single 4" center muffler and out 4" rear muffler the difference in light throttle at low rpm is nothing short of amazing and the GT-RSs are now make useable boost as low as 2100rpm without a tune I will add a few exhaust shops I talked about this setup tried to get me to go 3.5" cause 4" was to much of a hassle as for street setup my 32 with stock turbos injector cams etc @15pis make 261rwkw and is a handfull to the point I have to be very careful until the AD08s have warmed up, even in 4WD !! my point is the turbos you chose are a small part of any giving setup and if the setup isn't done well then turbos want matter as the car will be a piece of shit to drive but get your setup correct and any of these turbos will over power the grip you have available
