R33 Steering Rack Solenoid
89CAL replied to 89CAL's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
yeah but it was 12V accross the plug so to get 12v it has to be earthed If it wasnt earthed it would not show correct voltage AFAIK -
Thought I'd ask in here because this is one thing that PCLink help files dont really give to much info on Virtual Auxiliary Outputs I can't get my head around these, Just trying to bring check engine light on under certain conditions (Temps etc) but from what I can find, the Aux 7 channel needs to be turned to a GP output. I'll copy and paste the advice from the link Forum here to save me explaining it: 1) In ECU settings set Virtual Aux 1 (or whichever virtual aux you wish to use) to CE light 2) In ECU settings set Aux 1 (or whichever aux your CE is connected to) to GP Output 3) Set Switch logic in Aux 1 to 'Cond 1 OR 2' 4) Set SW Cond 1 to Aux Virtual Value 1 = ON 5) Set Aux Virtual Value 1 = ON to 1 (or whichever virtual aux number you decided to use) 6) Set SW Cond 2 to Knock > Value1 7) Set Knock > Value1 to whatever minimum knock level you want the check engine light to come on at. So is this basically using the Aux 7 output to do what you want (In this case warn of knock) and switch condition 1 is just a roundabout way of setting AUX 7 as a Virtual CEL (which it actually is anyway) So bascially, its like having Aux 7 setup as a CEL as normal (through SW condition 1 (Virtual AUX set as CEL)) but with an additional 1 or 2 options to turn the CEL on (SW condition 2 + 3) Have I got this right? Or am I way off.... lol

Rear Steering Rack Bent?
89CAL replied to boobeedoobee's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yeah probably depends how the thing is wired. If you had yours unplugged (HICAS steering locked as you said) the pump/rack was probably on full. Cant remember if the rack or pump controls the flow, more then likely the rack like 33's. I dunno lol -
3/4 rattle gun? on a car wheel nut? I hope that was a misprint.........

Put like that ^ it does seem a bit strange that they now do the 5 second stop-go penalty where teams can pit, do the 5 seconds, then work on the car (therefore not as harsh/race ruining penalty), but then they seem to have made the unsafe release twice as harsh I guess there is more people in the pit-lane that can get hurt, but I dunno, still seems harsh to me. Unless it is one or the other and because Dan didnt serve his 10 second penalty he gets the grid penalty for next race

Mine are fine? Played the PS3 the other day and the joysticks seem alot lighter, so not sure if thats from wear or if the PS4 ones are a bit tighter no problems so far, but my L2 button is squeaky.....

+1 I bought an $80 kit a few years ago, then later on bought a near $200 kit from the states and while the first kit hasn't failed or given me any issues, it is nowhere near as good as the more expensive kit. It's a fairly massive difference between the two. The expensive kit heats up to full light output in about 1/10th of the time of the cheap kit. Seen as the cheap kit is on my low beams I don't care so much but if it ever fails I'll replace it with the same kit as I have in the high beams

Rear Steering Rack Bent?

On R32's the power steering does go heavy when the speedo fails. I've known a few people that have had speedo cables fail and the power steering basically fails -

R33 Steering Rack Solenoid
89CAL replied to 89CAL's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Small update. I put a meter on the plug to the solenoid the other day (from the HICAS ECU) when the issue happened and It was getting 12v, so the issue must be with the solenoid or the wiring. I'm going to test reistance accross the coil when I have something I can hook onto the pins. I'm using someone elses multimeter so I dont have my aligator clips Hopefully its a wiring issue or something. Otherwise I will just buy a new solenoid section of the rack -
did he serve a drivethrough in the race? I didn't think he did? Sucks for Dan, showing some real promise but just not having any luck
-
And because I'm in a good mood heres the wiring.... so basically copy that but just run power wire to the fuel pump then to ground (like the RB25DE)
-
The FPCM only changes the voltage so the pump doesnt flow as much at idle (because its not needed obviously) So if you run the wire from the ECU to signal a relay and then just run power from the battery through the relay to the pump you should be fine

It's like Mclaren all over again..... Luck has disappeared

Rear Steering Rack Bent?
89CAL replied to boobeedoobee's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I think its the way the photo is taken If it just bends towards the back of the car a bit then thats normal. If its bent any other way then you may have had rear end damageat some point in the cars history From memory they have a bit of a kink to meet flush on the hub -
Indycar....... gayyyyyy I don't care about the engine noise, I'd rather go watch quiet F1 cars then Indycars, they were never that spectacular on the Gold Coast and its not nearly the same as F1
-
If its already balanced, chances are it wont take alot to re-balance the crank with a small addition like a crank collar I'm still not even sure it would make a difference, so If OP does get it done, please post information from the report
-
Just go to Holden and buy one off them. It wont be much more than $100 and you know its genuine then Much better then a dodgy eBay one failing and the car overheating Not saying all the eBay ones are dodgy, but for the sake of $50ish is it really worth the trouble?
-
Yeah most likely the ERS wouldnt be to different regardless of fuel flow. But there may be more chance of it being used at higher rpm in the higher gears to make up that hp loss to get the top speed It was just a guess, this is my first time watching it on tv so not sure how its used, do they have a graphic in the onboard shots for ERS use like the KERS bar?
-
Well.... he is kinda right, if you limit the power from the engine side of it, you tend to work harder on getting the most out of the electric side. So they are probably using more electrical HP in the top gears, rather then purely using it out of corners etc because the engine can make the power up top. I dunno, much smarter people then me probably know more about it It's not an invalid point, but its not an overly smart one either. Looks like I might need to use the feed when Qualifying starts in an hour..... or tomorrow when One/Ten dont have time to cover it

I just googled it, was pretty shit lol http://www.vipboxoc.co/sports/formula-1.html I dunno if it was my connection or the traffic on the site or what, my girlfriend was watching something on demand on the t-box downstairs so would have been chewing a bit of internets

I tried watching a stream of FP3, had to watch at low quality and kep skipping every so often. Pretty annoying...... Really wish we had sky sports f1

This will be great, unless they do what they did with GTA4, was still fun but
