Apologies for the noob question, but what uses the reddish/orange colour fluid on RB's? I've found that this colour fluid keeps leaking from under the car. It's from that reservoir on the right side of the motor near the turbo. Opinions?

Another thread said a dying alternator does it too.

I'm pretty sure that's not a factory cat.

Depends on your choice, but i'd go the greddy. The full intake replacement is best for both big or low power because it will add some responsiveness. Which one suits your budget? Making 500hp isn't cheap. Add that and you have the answer.

Awww c'mon lads give him a break I'm a writer and i understand what Adam's trying to do- provide atmosphere, imagery, characterisation blah blah i can go forever, in the attempt to give us a rounded picture of what i'd consider to be an experience most Skyline owners would dream of, but will never experience. This is the equivalent of a short film, it's a great idea. Let's not be homophobes, whether Adam is ghey or not

I agree. The 2JZ is awesome at making huge HP, more than the RB. But any automaker can produce an engine spec'd to be a dyno killer. With the Skyline Nissan have focused on an awesome powerplant that puts AS MUCH of its power to the road as possible. It's got chassis balance the Supra can't compete with. What makes MINES famous, for example, is the handling precision and balance of their tuning. This is much harder to do, because so many factors influence handling, rather than make a 3L motor with superstrong pistons, con rods and crank. High racing potential makes the Skyline awesome. It's the perfect all-rounder.

All this BS means we need to take more precautions than the next driver. Imports are too much of a theft target. If anyone is missing insurance/immobiliser/alarm- get them! Or you could lose your hard-earned car. I checked NS forum, the dude didn't have alarm OR insurance. There's a lesson.

Don't recognise it but it doesn't look great from the outside. If you're unsure how old it is, or how good/crap it is i'd get a 3 inch upgrade. Metal cats are the way to go if you're not budget-tight. My 2c is that the cat is the most restrictive exhaust component after the stock muffler.

The story is in serial format? Touche

Do you mean 80psi cold start? The oil needs more pressure on cold-starting to get it through the motor/sump/lines. When it's warmed up it'll flow easier, needing lower pressure to move it around. Sounds fine to me unless someone else has another opinion.

Thanks for the advice. Yeh reco sounds good then. I'll just source another belt i think, don't know how old/worn the current one is. Anyone from Sydney know a good auto-electrician?

G'day lads, My alternator is squeaking and i've been expecting it to go for a couple months now. Squeaking was intermittent but doesn't go away now. What's the better choice: Remove and take in for a reco? OR Remove and replace with a new one? Also the old belt, should i replace it or not important? I'm in Sydney if anyone can recommend an auto electrician. Cheers

Wtf? Where'd you get that info from? The R33 never failed...it's a very popular model and to many of us is awesome, bodykits make it even sweeter. And WTF? Hence S2? They're practically identical, the bonnet and side ridges were sharpened, front bar tweaked, boot features coloured differently, and interior made worse with cheap upholstery. How is that more than minor tweaks, like on any other car? R33 S1 (& S2) is more mature looking than R32. Look, even Domenico agrees: Hmmm, one of the greatest ever? Yes, it's unique. 93kw in a RWD car is still going to be fun. I had fun driving my AE92 Corolla for fks sake! Buying a car should be an act of passion, not just reasoning. Now go forth and test drive!

I'm gonna sound old fashioned *tea and scones anyone?* but mechanical gauges are just timeless. Electronic do their job better, but just compare reading a mechanical rev counter compared to an electronic one... Have a demo and see what you prefer. For only $50 difference who cares, pick what you like.

The most practical solution is tow bar/roof racks. Just need to be comfortable with changing the car's exterior look. If you opt for it, get a fabricator to do a decent job of cutting up the rear bumper, so it looks like it came that way. I reckon a removable towbar on a 2door skyline will look kinda cool, "he's an enthusiast AND a sportsman" The chicks will think you're 007.

How Much Boost Can U Put Through My Car?
R338OY replied to WOG BOY's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Yes, this has been covered more then anything. But, don't worry too much about damaging the car. If your ECU is stock it'll rich + retard at 12psi+ to save the turbo. A tune/piggyback means you'll need to be careful to keep it at a safe level. 12psi should be the limit on a stock turbo. For a track day even less. Get a boost controller (search 'turbotech' here and on ebay, very good and very cheap) and a boost gauge. If you don't care about money get an electronic boost controller. Do a search, many opinions are better than one -
I think series 10 just finished...so you're gonna need some patience and a hobby.

Yeh i'll reset the ECU, though i doubt it'll fix it. My rpm's aren't affected but i can feel the engine vibrate, even with music pumping (no sub ). I'm guessing there's some magical thing i've missed that needs cleaning/fixing

Squirt a little Mobil1 on that sucker.
