  1. OK i've tried posting on other forums but they SUCK! SAU always gets a response. SO, my brother has an AE92 Corolla and we're trying do decide if he needs a new CV joint for the driver's side front wheel, or new bearings, or both. The CV joint boot is busted, and grease has evidently p!ssed everywhere, so that's a definite But with wear and tear i'm thinking the inner & outer bearings are screwed too. The wheel shudders on acceleration, makes a 'crack' noise on full locking (u-turns mainly) and has tons of play when i jack it and twist it left and right, making a clonk noise. Just a CV joint, or bearings too? Thanks
  2. I'm planning to replace my old clutch (on stockish R33 gtst) with a heavy duty single-plate soon. Is flywheel replacing/lightening a good idea to do at the same time? I know under massive power a lightened flywheel can be dangerous, but i'll never upgrade more than what stock internals can take on my RB. With the factory flywheel they basically chop & grind to lighten it, right? What about aftermarket aluminium fly's too? I figured it's a good mod for increasing throttle response. Opinions?

    I'm In Denial!

Keichi Tsuchiya (the Drift King) said in a YouTube Time Attack video that he's always loved inline 6's for how they make power, and is regretful that companies in the 21st century are now reverting to V6's because they are more compact. I prefer inline 6's but that's cause they blew me away. If i drove an R35 i'm sure i'd love V6's too. That said i think the RB is nicer sounding and makes power more aggressively than the VQ. But stock for stock the VQ is more advanced, and the VR is well above them all re technology. Sadly for the thread starter- you just have to accept the times, inline-6's are old tech and will be appreciated like an old burly Mustang, but they're superseded.
  4. How is this GTR different to the standard one, dropped, rims changed, exterior changed blah blah- we're only speculating it's performance. I'm not going to repeat what everyone else said, but i'm only holding my breath for when Nissan say, "OK guys, here's the V-Spec"
  5. They're crap. Pimped R35 =
  6. With the STIG at the helm GTR can do anything! "Some say water runs off his skin like a duck" C'mon, let's aim close to no. 10
  7. You might be right. There isn't much resistance, not noticable anyhow, but it doesn't feel as smooth as normal under load when i turn right.
  8. Yeh i posted in forced induction cause i need a response ASAP It's not pad indicators, had pads inspected recently with plenty left. It sounds like a chirp/squeak every time the wheel does a rotation, and when i jacked it it sounds like a soft 'sucking' sounds when i spin the wheel round. Possibly the bearing, but bearings normally made a humming noise when they go, right? Checked suspension and nothing seems busted. It's coming from the wheel's rotating assembly! Anything i've missed?
  9. I figured your advice is the way to go...need the breaker bar...BUT This sounds like a good idea. It was straight before the alignment now is wonky. I'll redo the alignment with this post in mind.
  10. My front-right wheel squeaks every rotation, it's getting annoying and i want it fixed asap. I jacked the car and couldn't find any problems like leaking fluid around the wheel. My guess is the CV joint is worn. Any opinions?
  11. I have a Momo steering wheel and after a wheel alignment the car drives straight but the steering wheel isn't dead-centre. I thought of removing it and putting it back on in the right position. I'm having trouble removing the centre nut though. Any advice?
  12. Gorgeous car mate I'm seriously considering importing a 350GT as an upgrade to my R33 gtst. Have you driven one before? What are they like? I've been in an '03 Stagea with a VQ35 in it, but haven't driven any new Skylines. Enjoy when she arrives!
  13. This is interesting So what block's it got for that stroke? Someone know? It's like a hot-pot of every RB engine all in one!
  14. 263.0rwkw O ye of little faith.
  15. That's my first reaction. Defeats the purpose of the R35 being the top-of-the-line Nissan supercar. So all new Skylines will only come NA out of the box you reckon?
  16. Can anyone kill the rumors that the new 370GT coupe (also Infiniti G37) with come with a pumped up version of the VQ37 in twin-turbo guise, AWD and 500hp? Isn't thise too close in performance to the R35?
  17. This thread made me shudder.
  18. Whether Nissan brings them in, or only private importers, doesn't make much difference to prospective buyers. As long as they're available here in reasonable numbers within a reasonable timeframe.
  19. The point of buying Nissan is for a turbo IMO. If you're going NA (that's the only realistic option) there's better NA's than Nissan for several reasons (such as any Honda will be lighter than an R33 = economical, good for apprentice wages) and why bother with something that isn't great to begin with . I'd go a Civic/Integra or Celica with light mods (exhaust/intake/ECU/increase compression a little) until full licence. Still fun but realistic. Keep for a year or two and learn how to take corners (if you're a virgin ). I got my R33 at 22 years old, full licence, and appreciate it heaps more cause I was driving a dog box corolla for all these years.
  20. Ok sweet, it runs good but he wasn't sure if 'slight' roughness was a result of doing this. He probably put them on properly then. It's not running like a sack of shit Cheers Simon
  21. If two ignition leads for spark plugs are swapped around by mistake (i.e. when changing plugs) and timing is off is the missing extremely noticable? Or will it still drive OK? My mate did this in his Hilux. Cheers!
  22. GTR = Stays true to its family genes Supra = Has sold out cause it ain't good enough, is more German/Italian supercar than JAPANESE. If Nissan stuck a V10 in the GTR, would anyone stand a chance?
  23. When you gun it from the tolls making all this noise and see a Holden V8 ute chasing behind tryin' to get in on the action, and he doesn't catch up until you slow down (true story) When you're in a Maccers carpark and this punk kid walks up and asks a million questions about turbos and drag racing, then another punk in his work ute drives past with a hot blonde girlfriend who stares at you and your car and smiles like she wants another boyfriend, then the dude throws his large coke out the window and nearly splashes your car. You and the little punk kid have a laugh about it (true story)
  24. You know you drive a Skyline when pedestrian couples walk past you at a red light and they both check your car out. And you pretend you don't notice but secretly you love it. You know you drive a Skyline when you wait around till it's warm in the morning, and till it cools when you get home, wasting time and petrol because you worry about hurting the RB. You know you drive a Skyline when you're doing 60km/h in a 60 zone but constantly checking your mirrors for cops. You know you drive a Skyline when you make a list of "to do's" and "mods" and leave it on your desk. You know you drive a Skyline when you park, step out, and take a pic with your phone and people are watching you and wondering. You know you drive a Skyline when you drive something else and realise how good your 'line is. You know you drive a Skyline when you read this thread and laugh cause 99% of the posts you can relate to.
  25. Hands down the hottest looking GTR i've seen so far (but its only early days). I'm still unconvinced about those rims though Top Secret is, only by just, my favourite tuning house! (Mine's is very close behind ) Can't wait till someone strips GTR and fills it with racing testosterone...
