  2. RBR test a red hot new front wing and Webber's breaks his when avoiding debris from a Massa crash in P3....with Webber 7 points ahead of Vettel do you reckon they are going to give Mark a 1/10th of a second per lap advantage to Mark for Quali? I was ok with the weekend's race result but today I have been stewing big time. Whilst it will be great if Mark gets the job done this weekend, its not like help from his team would by any means lessen the result. Hell, they are a team and you would think they would do what was the highest probability of yielding a result. At present they are taking each way low percentage bets.... Button has sucked lately, so that really leaves only Hamilton in there as a spoiler....so i cant see RBR getting a perfect race weekend under their belt. Its very hard to string a good race result together and danger looms on the horizon. For all their clear pace this year, they have only had 4 x 1-2 finishes. It will either be an eopic Sunday night or one that BLOWS! No middle ground for me...and frankly RBR can bite my ass....
  3. No biggie. You basically have to do that every 2 years anyway if you are tracking your car They only normally last about 2,000km of track work ...though there are many variables
  4. There are better solutions...lol you just need to be willing to spend a few hours and a shit load of cuts on your hands HPC Coating (the brand) is far more durable then anything I have seen from Competition Coatings. I have not treid Jet Hot, but HPC are worth the extra money. Though I still think its more an anti-corrosion thing and durability thing then out right thermal control. On the new setup I am going to do a wany McLaren trick and throw some gold thernal film in the engine bay, along with more of the ACL heat guards. I am going to replace the Greddy turbo shield with one made from the ACL stuff. Who knows how it will work out, but air is a pretty good insulator so
  5. Usual conditions apply... happy to see it go to a good home. Only I want to wait and see if i will need it in case the plenum is crap and all the ravings reviews I have read on them are about as good as some of the other fanboy reviews on parts I have wasted money
  6. I still have not sent you the pack of goodies. Have not forgotten, just with Targa High Country last week the mechanic was away and I have no idea where they are in his factory
  7. If they are equal on wins, it goes back to number of seconds. If they are equal on number of seconds it goes to number of 3rds etc etc
  8. Massa did the dodgy again in Korea! He was going to jump Alonso in the pit stops, but this time Ferrari were smart about it and Massa lost 3 seconds on a very slow in lap and another 2 seconds on his out lap. That is all RBR would have to do, ie Kimi in 2007. Doesn’t make it any better…but the more I think about it…part of me says its ok, it’s a team sport. Part of me says, win it or lose it…..you and your mechanics can be proud and like Mark says, S”um will still come up on Monday”
  9. Vettel has been keeping his nose clean since Spa and getting good results. But, as a Webber fan you have to be frustrated that hs is easily as fast over a race disctance, I woudl still argue that Webber is perhaps a little quicker over a race distance, but he seems to be able to get quali just that little bit more right and shade Webber by a few hundredths most weekends. Must be so frustrating to follow him knowing that a fraction of a second better result on Saturday or a better start off the line and it would be you up front cruising. What does upset me a little is that RBR are almost showing preference for Vettel by letting Seb erode Marks lead. It wasnt that long ago they took parts of one guys car and gave them to the other because he was 2 points ahead at the half way mark of the season so that he would have a better chance of winning. Races later the same guy that lost car parts has been leading the other for months and he gets nothing for his trouble..... But, it will just mean if Webber gets up then he does all on his own. If he doesnt, well he can only hate himself for two very silly errors this season. I think Vettel will play ball...he isnt stupid....and i suspect Webber wotn get close to him at the final race...He seems to suck a little at the night races compared to Vettel...Brazil was his big chance to get the job done....but....
  10. Teh, Button is making himself look pretty ordinary. How many times this year has he missed Q3? Also, he is at sea when it comes to car setup and getting it to work. Makes you think last year that if a more versatile driver was in his seat, whether there would have been far more podiums in the back half of the season. My money is on Rosberg woudl have made him look average as well. But, the Hulk has made it pretty clear from Monza and a few other moments this year that he is a competitive little bugger so expect there to be all sorts of chaos in th efirst few laps. Hamo will be right in there with nothing to lose....Webber and Vettel tip toeing around not trying to lose wings etc...Hamo and Nico can afford to take the piss a little....so should be an entertaining race...shame about feeling shit on Monday because of no sleep
  11. How good was that? Would so love to see Williams win a GP, but being a dry race think he will be aiming for a podium. Hopefully Webber can do a Hamilton from the second row and by the end of the first lap its Webber 1 and Hamo 2 with the Germans bashing into each other seeing who is the superior specimen of the superior race
  12. Seems Mark had car problems....there were people working around the back of the car...though in the final minutes they seemed to think Webber was happy to sit out the session...Quali will be so interesting...wet and Renault look strong and so close amongst Webber, Vettel, Alonso, Massa, Hamilton and Kubz....lets hope Webber can get teh job done in the wet and Kubisa and Massa are in teh mix with Vettel and Alonso.
  13. Practice in another 5 hours, quali in 8hrs time
  14. Some of Horners comments are pretty silly regarding the team being built around Seb...so it seems too many members of the team are too interested in saying silly things publicly. Just hope Webber gets back in teh trenches and toughs out a result this weekend. Off for a few beers then....quali!
  15. Weather looks to be the only thing that might mess with an RBR front row. Funny to see Webber having a bit of a sook in public. What he said was perfectly fine but you know what the media are going to do with such statements. I read tht Webber and Horner had a quite animated talk to one another outside the motor home last night
  16. I made it from some 316L stainless from work. It is coming off soon with the new plenum

    Piarc Sprints

Car wasnt touched last week because of Melbourne Cup weekend. ditto this weekend with THC...i hope to be there but the car wont be sorted
  18. Well, I had a dream last night. In a very close quali Webber was racing Vettel on their hot laps and Webber got pole ahead of the two Fezz. In the conference Alonso called Webber am Aussie Champion and upon hearing started crying saying that he is nothing compared to recognised Aussie champions...he then started to talk about Weary Dunlop, Doohan and Don Bradman...?!?!??!?!!? Wierd dream, but lets hope it was right and it is Webber on pole for the race!
  19. Well, not long now until practice is underway...and there are reports of rain for quali. I really think the elements mean that RBR are less likely to get the win...ans also bad news for those hoping for an engine failure for Alonso. Only good think is Webz normally pips Vettel in wet quali so here is hoping
  20. Have you actually measured the rotors Russman? Sometimes pad deposits in the slots make people think they are worn off but actually just have heavy pad deposits in them?!?!?
  21. BIG difference between a rim failing when you are driving around your favourite bend at a track and bashing it straight up a kerb or gutter

  23. Harry, I understand what you are saying....but have you ever been a scrutineer or close friends with any scrutineers? It is not quite as clear cut as what you are saying, though what you are saying is generally correct. It will be a brave Steward or Clerk of Course who overrules their chief scrutineer. So going to complain to them is unlikely to have their decision over turned. If a quick inspection of the cage reveals that its fasteners are not appropriate, reinforcement plates undersized, or the diameter of he main roll hoop undersized then I say there is a chance that a scrutineer may knock back use of the cage. By being compliant to Sched J the scrutineer has a known baseline for inspection to measure whether it is acceptable. If it deviates significantly from the the requirements of Sched J then it is all of a sudden a judgement call of the scrutineer to verify that it is safe. Whilst he may have no personal liabliity, as a CAMS representative he has an official duty of care and as the insurers for the event you can guarantee CAMS officials understand that worst case they can be in front of the coroners court explaining themselves. In which case it will be an interesting tale....the cage did not comply with the accepted norm....question will go along the lines of "and what grounds/experience/investigation was performed to ensure that the competitors cage was safe in light of the fact that it did not comply with guidelines and was not iteself a danger inside the cabin?" So whilst you are correct, there are some steely old CAMS folk and scrutineers out there who if asked to make a judgement call on something pointed out to them will always err on the conservative side. You said it in your last line...if it isnt compliant with Sched J how is the scrutineer expected to understand if the cage is "safely constructed?"
  24. But does anyone know where you can buy the Garret competition turbos from?
  25. What sized exhaust housing on the T67? 8cm or 10cm? Could be interested in the turbo
