Hi had a similar problem with my rb30 powered vk commodore like you I replaced the afm and it fixed it for about 6 months and it happened again so I tried a afm from my mate and away it went perfect until I changed it back I fornd I had to restrict the return fuel line to the tank and it ran perfectly again I ended up fitting a tomei external fuel regulator to the vehical witht the same afm and that was about 5 years ago and never had a problem since and im still using the same afm.

I have a similar setup as you have only im using a Wolf version 5 hypergear ss2 turbo and 660cc injectors and 98 pump fuel and getting 410hp at wheels with 15psi of boost when I go to high boost which is 19psi im getting 455hp at the wheels but I have std cams and my head was ported and flowed with heavier valve springs by Lewis Engines. I have a bit more lag than you but my tuner said it was to do with the slightly lower compression pistons 9.1.1 greddy manifold and the larger diameter primary tubes in the exhaust manifold but when the power comes on its a handfull. I wouldn't go heavier springs unless your going to go for solid lifters and cams as hydraulic setup doesn't really like too much valve spring tension you will wear out the top end of your motor. It might just be your tuner there are a lot of tuners out there that cant get the power out of a wolf computer.
  7. The ecu is up to your wallet and what your local tuner is used to working with I use the new Wolf as I didn't want the air flow restriction but that is my choice. There will allways be people telling you what is the best I suggest you find the tuner you want to use and ask him what ecu he is confident in tuning and that suits your car mods etc and go with that.
  8. I have had 1.2mm Cometic head gasket on my engine since my rebuild also have ARP head studs. I also had block and head machined running up to 19psi boost at 300+kw no problem. I would recommend the use of head studs with the gasket better clamping pressure between head and block.
  9. New ones wont make any difference unless there is something defective with the ones you are using now. Id spend my money on a good fuel pump instead
  10. Sounds like you have a piston failure It sounds like the same when my engine failed it ended up having cracked ring glands on 5 pistons hope for your pocket it isnt

Hi I have a 1995 ecr r33 gtst and when im just cruising along I can hear a clicking noise almost like door lock relay coming from the drivers door it does it approx. every 20 seconds has anyone ever had this problem before as im tired of just turning up the stereo to drown out the noise im also worried it may cause electrical problems in the future thanks Sam..

Hi has my car running with a wolf ver 4 plugin ecu with 660cc injectors it was not tuned by a shop but I had problems with idle and partial throttle so I changed the settings and minor change to the injector wiring for semi sequential and the car idled much better and didn't have lots of soot coming from the exhaust but as I say it has never been tuned drop me you email and I will send you the info if you like

Hi its been a while since I have posted here about 3 years ago I bought a Wolf 3d ver 4 plugin ecu all I had was a base tune on it and I was never happy with it so I fitted the stock ecu back into the car. I have hardly driven it since approx 2500kms in the last 3 years due to not having the money to go further. Recently I have saved my money purchased a new turbo from hypergear and I also sent my spare head to Lewis engines and had it flowed with new valves, springs, retainers new steam pipe exhaust manifold with GM LS3 coil paks. I still have the wolf in the cupboard but im not holding much hope with that one the new turbo I purchased has a 3 inch inlet and im sure there would be problems with the air flow meter or id have to lie to the ecu when getting it tuned. I have found a couple of ecu's at a very good price but I would like to get some feedback on them especially from some people that have actually had them in there car as I live quite a long way from any tuner and my other car which is a CHARADE is incapable of towing the vehical to the tuners and I have 2 quotes from towing companies to take it to Sydney at around $500.00 plus dollars . The ECU ;s that I have found are Haltech E8 which has a tune on it and I could get it to the tuners with it. The other is a Haltech E11 v2 with no tune on it and I would really like to get a Computer that is easy to find a shop that can tune it I really would like to be able to upload and download tune files to my laptop so I could have a couple of files that I could use different tunes and also have a map sensor instead of AFM. What are your thoughts on this as I am about to move premises and I will be even further from any dyno tune shops thanks Sam
  15. Hi i used 2pac paint on my engine parts as i tried acylic paint before and it ended up cracking The 2pac has lasted a year now and its like the day i sprayed them. I wouldnt use 2pac clear over the colour as i think the heat from the engine would react to it causing it to crack.

Hi years ago when i used to play with v8 engines if you had a lightened flywheel and used a large hi po balancer on the front of the engine it would occasionaly spit belts off this was mainly on small journal engines when changed to a lighter one didnt spit belts anymore.I put it down to the rpm and harmonics from the drive train. Maybe the same is happening here ?????

Hi i have a nitto pump in my rb25 with crank coller i removed the inner spring in the pump because i thought the extra pressure would give me oil problems I was advised to restrict the oil to the head which led to lifter and cam failure I removed the restrictor and used the standard restrictors with new hyd lifters and new cams and 5000kms later have had no problems and allways have good oil pressure i also add an extra 500mls of oil at oil changes.
  18. Hi im looking for some maps for a Wolf 3d version 4 plugin ecu. To suit a RB25 R33gtst series 2. If possible maps with modification info as i want to get my R33 to run better and i would like to compare maps and try and get my setup working better. PS. I know take it to a tuner but id like to try myself i just have to get my head around how it all works if i fail then ill have no option to take it to a shop.

Has the oil restrictors in the block been changed i have a forges engine with nitto pump and had to replace 2 of the oil retrictors for smaller size as the larger pump sends excessive oil to the head leaving the bottom end in short supply not a good thing to do on the limiter i think you may have more problems than just the oil pump.....

Hi thanks for the info i was offered a pair of new cams to suit an rb20 and a set of new hydrulic lifters to suit nissan 300zx dett he told me they should be the same he told me the cams were not std 256 deg 215 deg at 50 thou thats why im asking if they are compatible as it cant hurt to replace these part as there verrrycheeep and brand new also not interested in disconnecting the vct on my engine

  24. I live in nowra area and i havnt heard anything about any track the only construction in a staight line is just west of huskisson and thats sopposed to be an airstrip but its been under construction for many years but if your right quarter mile in my back door would be nice .....
