#1; possibly, but only if you are driving through a splined shaft length that is less than the Diameter of the shaft + 12%. This is also the rule of thumb with thread depth for bolts and width of nuts. #2; I can't see any way cutting the end off the spline (which is concentric, and therefore balanced anyway) would effect the balance of the shaft at all. Feel free to explain it to me if there's something I've missed. Cheers, Dale.

Changed The Wheels On The V35...wotdoyareckon?
Daleo replied to superspit's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Looks good! Maybe pop a link in the Stagea parts for sale for your rims, I have a set on mine, they look great! 18x8"+30 offsets are good for NM35 Stags. If they're undamaged, you'll get a good price, that "Shadow Chrome" paint costs around $200 per wheel to apply... -
I'm not really a fan of those either, in extreme cases they can cause similar problems to no thermostat, if the opening temp is low enough. You're only masking issues of an inadequate cooling system, either not enough water volume or not enough heat shedding ability. Both of which you can correct with an appropriately sized, well designed aftermarket core.
-
No thermostat, is almost always worse, car takes forever to heat up, if it ever does. Rich fuel mixture uses heaps of fuel, as you never get out of cold start map, washing oil off bores, allowing rings to score everything. Not a single good thing there... Don't forget your cooling system is pressurised, water will not boil at 100deg, under pressure.

The standard front swaybar is 29 mm hollow, so I replaced it with a 30 mm solid adjustable. I didn't want to go too big in the front bar as the 4wd's are fairly front weight biased and so need to transfer their weight rather than skip wiht too much antiroll. Something to keep in mind is that the front bar is linked to the lower control arm around half way to the wheel, so there are considerable leverage and movement ratios to be considered. As a comparison the previous model Stagea front bar is 1 to 1 with the wheel, hence why a 24 mm front bar is the go on them. The standard rear bar was 18 mm hollow, which is way undersized, so I replaced it with a 24 mm solid adjustable. It was fairly obvious that the standard rear bar was way too small considering the high rear centre of gravity (it's a waggon). Something to keep in mind is, like the front bar, the rear bar is linked to the upper control arm around half way to the wheel, so once again there are considerable leverage and movement ratios to be considered. To complete the comparison, the previous model Stagea rear bar is also similarly located, hence why a 24 mm rear bar is also the go on them. Driving impressions; I set the front and rear bars on their softest setting and did a quick lap of test track #1. The improvement was both obvious and impressive, the previous plough understeer and excessive weight transfer to the outside front wheel was almost gone. I thought it need a little more on the rear, so I went up one hole on the adjustment. That balanced it out a even more and gave a noticeable improvement in the lift off front tuck in to the apex. I'll let the owner drive it around for a while and then take his feedback on the day to day balance. Plus I will check the fittings and make sure there is no distress in the mountings or links. Once that is done the bars will be available for sale, if there is enough interest I will do an SAU Group Buy for those that are interested. Perhaps I should've included this quote in my original search. If you search "M35 Stagea Suspension" you will find the entire thread. This quote is taken from the initial Sway Bars designed & manufactured by "Sydneykid". I believe this quote refers to the bars on your car Andy. My intention is to exactly replicate the original kit, which Todd has agreed to, and he was also in agreement with the sizing. The feedback from yourself & others who also have the original bars, was what prompted me to get this going, especially in light of the watered down, and (I believe) overpriced Fulcrum versions. Hopefully, Gary's (Sydneykid) original findings will give everyone a better understanding of how these bars work, & my motivation to reproduce them. Cheers, Dale

It was literally a 20 minute job It's been driving me bezerk! I'm happy to not have you not pay me to not do it? Not? If you want some tape I can probably hook you up. Either that or Con-Tact adhesive backed felt is good for this too. -
Chris at Penrith Nissan is really helpful & told me he's happy to track parts down for us. Just needs your VIN.

Andy, as per post #46 in this thread: Front, 30mm solid, 3 position adjustment. Rear, 24mm solid, 3 position adjustment. The adjustment will be one hole either side of the original, with 18mm between each hole centre. Even on the softest setting they will be significantly stiffer than the standard item. They will be supplied with new "D" bushes & clamps as required

True, I must admit, I was anticipating a much higher price than that. Always pays to check first

Disassembled centre console, teflon taped all mating surfaces, reassembled; no more squeaking & rattling! How's that serenity! -
The amount of useless information I've collected, you would not believe... Case in point; the active collection of useless information is known as "Spermology"

Were they really that low? Enjoy your new beast! -
Ok gents, update. Todd has the sample bars now , I'm going to give him a couple of days to sort us out with a firm price, then I'm going to put up the group buy. If you are Sydney based I'm going to try to save a bit on postage & essentially sort out a meet up to distribute the goods. If you wish to have bars freighted, Todd is happy to do this. Please PM me your postcode, and Todd will be able to give me a price for shipping. Todd has confirmed his lead times for manufacture at 3-4 weeks, and given we appear to have the minimum requirement, I'm planning to run the group buy until mid December, which should see us delivering Bars in the 2nd week of the New Year. Thanks everyone for your patience, more info as it comes to hand. Obviously, if anyone else is interested, shoot me a PM, and you too can be a part of the Sway Bar goodness. Cheers, Dale

This took on a bit of a life of its own eh? I'm the first to admit to some monumentally stupid car behaviour in the past, some of the other posts give the impression they've never done a skid. You won't get any more criticism from me. Get going on that rebuild. Cheers, Dale

I have an idea... See below

Classic! That was the first time I saw the Stag, couldn't find any info at the time...

Ok, update. I have a set of sample bars for Todd to work from now (thanks again Ben!) and was intending to get down to drop them off to him today, unfortunately, just had 2 wisdom teeth taken out and it's giving a bit more curry than I was expecting So I'll be going down to drop them off tomorrow and I'm hoping I'll have the group buy up by Wed/Thurs. Apologies for the delay, was only supposed to be having one done but you know how these things go.

BC BR's. Been running mine for a year now, love them. For the money, they are brilliant. I defy anyone to do better. -
Sounds like your highflow is bang on the money, Andy. Must be pretty pleased.
