  1. Fair call, if you've been doing your research; go for it! I did enjoy the endless hours trawling Yahoo Japan looking for bit, and the further endless days/moths waiting for them to arrive... Actually; it was a massive pain in the arse... But it did add satisfaction when it was all finished. Watching with interest to see what you find, and then how you modify.
  2. Yep, there was some "arse covering" in that ad. I must be cynical too...
  3. Not wanting to tell you what to do; but unless the particular car was an amazing example with some decent add ons; why not keep looking? See if you can find something with the factory Aero kit; much nicer looking than the base model "smiley face" front bumper. The Aero kit is NOT cheap to source secondhand. I did it on my car; it would've been easier and a LOT cheaper to purchase one with the kit. The better the base; the more fun you can have modding things you WANT to.
  4. I know exactly what you are saying, but engaging a good traffic solicitor isn't a free exercise, and is probably more than the fine. Even if you fought this yourself; a day in court would cost you a days pay; and that's if the Police prosecutor even turns up, (which will result in the matter being deferred not dismissed) costing you another days pays. You are arguing a point of law; and what SHOULD happen. I'm telling you what the Police WILL do. It's not right; but they're doing it anyway. How you fight it is up to you, but even getting the fine waived is going to cost you money. This crap is EXACTLY the same as defecting cars on suspicion of a defect when they KNOW there is nothing defectable; but doing it anyway. At least the sticker was a visual cue that you could use; now even the information that you are supposed to rely on carries NO legal weight. I totally support the use of the ANPR cameras; this has to be the best use of technology to keep law abiding road users safe from unregistered arseholes ever. ANPR is also being used to flag vehicles possibly being driven by unlicensed drivers, so the days of taking a chance driving whilst you are suspended; are over. 11,000 plates an hour in a country where an estimated 10-20% of vehicles are unregistered or being driven by unlicensed drivers is a GOOD thing.
  5. I've been watching this subject with interest; especially after a discussion with a workmate the other day. My workmates son was assisting a friend move house (son's friend is Police officer) and workmates son was asked to transport a car to the new home. On the way; car was pulled for RBT and it was discovered to have no current rego. A fine for $600 was issued to workmates son as he was driving an unregistered vehicle. The penalty notice carries no demerit points. If the owner had been driving; the fine would have exceeded $2000 and would've included demerit points. A fairly animated argument ensued, as the driver had been told that the car was fine, and he hadn't checked. The officer told him that it was HIS resposibility to ensure that any vehicle he is driving is registered and insured. This flies in the face of your reasonable assumption theory. The car was ordered to be locked & left and they were told to return with a trailer/tow truck to remove the car; if it was seen driving, it would be fined again. The owner of the vehicle apparently tried to use his force contacts to have the fine rescinded; but was subsequently reprimanded by his superiors. The final piece to this puzzle must be; that even when you check the rego details online, there is a disclaimer that absolves RMS of any responsibility should the information on their website be incorrect. Furthermore; it expressly forbids the use of any information from their website being used to mount any kind of legal defence. TL;DR; You are responsible for any vehicle you drive, but RMS is under no obligation to provide factual or legally binding information to assist you in doing so.
  6. The only issue with the "antenna" is if you want to get rid of it down the track; it leaves a huge hole in the front bar. You'd actually need a new bumper skin if you wanted it gone. Good luck with the search.
  7. Scotty was saying in another thread that he had 2 sets he was looking to get rid of; shoot him a PM. Otherwise I have 2 sets at my place; use mine, and just replace them for me; at least then you can get it sorted ASAP.
  8. Impul still has throttle restriction. Nismo is the only one that definitely removes the throttle restriction from what I can gather, other claim to but when pressed on the issue they leave it in.
  9. That's pretty good Alex, nothing over 85 is a great result; looks like Scotty's cooling mod is my next move. What was ambient temp?
  10. If you can hear the turbo spinning after it's shut down; that's a good thing. Well balanced, good cartridge. As for the clunk; not so sure. Wastegate snapping shut, bov opening?
  11. Mine have done over 100,000km, I think that's a pretty decent life for a bearing that takes the kind of load they are subjected to. Not really a design fault, peoples expectations of mechanical component life expectancy is the issue here.
  12. Well, since the early 80's; when a ragtag group of renegade Renault engineers invented the internet, they have been an unstoppable force. If you have any doubts; just look at the Fuego turbo.
  13. 245/45/18 would be mint on a 9". Not really stretched; but no muffin top either. Speedo will only be off by about 3% too.
  14. I just noticed the M35 dig in your Sig. Nice.
  15. Got some nice features in that unit; I'm amazed at how many HU's still don't have Ipod AND Bluetooth interface.
  16. It's a relative increase; it's not like the car will understeer more than it did before. What Alex is referring to is changing the BALANCE to more of an understeer than oversteer bias. Using a heavy rear ARB will increase low speed understeer markedly. If you are chasing handling at all; you are wasting your time with 20's on this car. You have no sidewall flex to absorb impact or surface change and the tyre just bashes around going all over the place. Go back to a 19" and get some sidewall. Also, use a decent quality tyre; just because they're wide, doesn't automatically make them grippy. It wouldn't be a bad thing to get some Super Pro compression rod bushes (Strut Rod bushes) with additional caster; this will drastically reduce the inherent understeer once you start pushing hard. This will allow you to use your adjustable ARB's effectively. You speak the truth my good man.
  17. Thanks Iain! I'm going to see if it comes back this week, and I'll be in touch. I still have to get the name of the shade sail place for you too. Cheers, Dale.
  18. Where do they come from Jules? Dickheads...
  19. I don't normally replace the washer every time, in fact; the current one has been on the sump plug for at least 5 changes.
  20. Do you intend to pursue his threats of vandalism, and actual vandalism to your car through the Police? Perhaps if his professional conduct it brought to the attention of the Police, and fair trading; he might stop scamming & threatening other car owners. Just a thought.
  21. It should be a 12mm copper washer. Worth less than $1
