  1. 1:24.5 outta the RB7... Not too bad!
  2. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/35129-im-buying-a-skyline-what-should-i-look-for/
  3. Have trouble finding your test results?
  4. You can get the 048s (18s) cheaper from the US delivered
  5. ^ The way that is worded - it comes across the wrong way. So i hope it's just wording as overfilling the sump has nothing to do with breaking a pump. They are totally independant of one another.
  6. There are other options as well. The Dunlops that come factory on XR6 Turbos are an EXCELLENT choice for the price. In a R34 that is lighter and has less power, it's a very good combination. I had them for a while a few years back (older generation). In the daily driver/cheap spec there are many options. IMO you don't need to go over $200-250 a corner these days in 17's for a good compromise. If you are prepared to wait, order them outta the US and you'll be able to get $300 AUD tyres, for $200 AUD - simply because they are SO much cheaper outta the US. As it'll be uner $1000... You also avoid tax.
  7. Yours are working? We thought they were still broken...
  8. I clearly told your 'mate' p.dellagio - That you were NOT to sell phones on here. I'm not stupid. I know you are using a new account. You are a business. You are profiteering from our forum - and you are also pains in the arse to deal with according to users.

  11. Good to hear the F1's today. I was right above the pitlane exit in the Shell Corp box bit for a while and in the Ferrari Pits for a bit as well. Massa is SO small. I couldn't get over it... Also managed to get a crack in the F1 Simulator that Massa was using yesterday here in Fed Square (apparently there was some big thing on). The Ferrari dude running the sim said, through a thick italian accent, that the drivers spend almost 1 day/week in them... That's a lot of seat time and they are not particularly comfy lol. Tell you what though, it's so realistic i was shocked, as close as i'll ever get to driving something like that. I'll do a write up with pics and stuff when i get a chance over the w/e. Some rather interesting stuff i found out about it. F1 truly is something where money isn't an issue! I still love the porka cup cars though, man they just sound sooooo nice.
  12. bump pics of Nismo Circuit Link to come mid next week.
  13. I'm trying to find money for tyres... I'm not busy anymore! Pray i find 2k under my bed when i get home!
  14. Wastegate simply controls boost via exhaust. It has nothing to do with power vs boost. It's simply about flowing enough gas so that you don't have boost spike issues like some internal wastegate models have. If the internal gate is big enough, there is no reason why it will not perform the same. Imagine the below scenario. All are 600hp turbos with identical specs except wastegate. Turbo A - 20mm IW Turbo B - 40mm IW Turbo C - 45mm EW They will all make the same power. However boost control with Turbo A is going to be a major issue. Turbos B & C by rights, should pretty much perform the same. The only reason Turbo C might be better - exhaust restrictive issues. Turbo C might have an advantage if the gate is vent to atmo over Turbo B if the cars exhaust is not flowing enough Just think GTR turbos. They don't use external gates and you can see 450rwkw easily enough with 800hp lowmounts.
  15. 1.9 60ft is not bad for the setup at all! What tyres?
  16. I'm civil People just spout a lot of what workshops feed them without knowing any better. Thank god he doesn't post here all that often. I know that you've got enough smarts to see through that and look at results, cars and the overall. Obviously with added oil/larger sump the oil temps and similar are beneficial to the cause depending on use. Snowman & Scotsman both ran stock sump'd GTR's for 2-3 years no problems in that department. Motors were stock too and eventually the died but that's what happens @ 330-360rwkw over a hard life. Since then they've both used N1 pumps, as have pretty much all Vic cars. Not one has broken a pump yet. Most motors hand together fine as well (failures are not pump related). So if you are a bit worried then swap out the gearset. They aren't too expensive and if you get piece of mind then that's covered off. Comes down to cost really: Option 1 - 1500 Option 1.5 - 2300 Option 2 - 3200-3500 I'd also suggest if you are going to go all out on a pump, that you use the Tomei one. It's the only one that utilises a different gearset arrangement similar to that of the 2JZ (never hear of them breaking pumps). It's something I've never really worked out why the other aftermarket pump makers don't use the Tomei/2J style as for a bolt-on pump, it's the way to go.
  17. Hang on... you wanna spend $500 on a cooler with a setup worth over 15k? alarm bells dude! Unless the cores have been tested and proven (pressure drop vs flow), I'd be very wary about handing over cash as you could well find yourself in the same situation as you are now. Not saying a $500 option can't work as I know for a fact of a few workshops here in Melb using China cores, that are super cheap and making over 400rwkw from them. (not talking skylines here). But what i am saying - is get it tested and checked, don't just go for the most cost effective. Ensure you go in armed with all the information as your setup really does demand better than average or you'll only ever get below average results. That's unfortunately how these things work.
  18. So what are the flow rates of the N1 pump then oh intelligent one? I take it from the fact you didn't post them - you don't know either? What are these "tests" you've personally performed on all these parts? Please post the results for all too see, you know, so you don't loose any credibility. I'd like to know, as I'm sure everyone else would, how you know that you'll "pretty much never a problem" Definition of eventually: in the end Same could be said for option 1, 2 or 3, eventually all things will fail. I mean, eventually you'll die and so will i. See how much of a ridiculous statement that is yet?
  19. One is eventually likely to fail but the other isn't? Oh come on, thats just rubbish. There is no credible shred of proof that stays using option 1 will invevitably lead to a rebuild, or that option 2 will totally avoid it. A motor failing is no less likely with option 1, than it is with option 2. The same risks/issues are present. The only thing that is different is the Tomei pump is stronger. Doesn't mean it wont break, doesn't mean its indestructable. Doesn't mean there are not 100 other possible reasons or area's that could kill the engine. Indeed I've not seen them written anywhere. Although a fair few posts around here seem to suggest anything other than stock - most of them are around the same.
  20. Option 1 will be fine. Ensuring 1L of overfill in the stock sump. Plenty have done this without issue. only time issue has arisen is when they forget to overfill Or, to throw a spanner in the works... Option 1.5using all of option1, but changing sump. This setup is what most GTR's use. Only diff being stock N1 pump, no gear swap. I think though the N1 and Nitto have the same flow rate? Meaning restrictor choice should be same across both.
  21. If you want power, more boost. You can't make anymore power without it. otherwise the setup is fine as is.
  22. considering he already had sizeable lowmount manifolds (aftermarket) before this, i'd be surprised is there was a major exhaust note alteration. jury is still out on the performance side as well. 3 pages, we need results
  23. 4hr drive a day in a GTR The fuel bill for a week would be one days pay
  24. A GTR cooler will flow 360-400rwkw without a problem Wouldnt hurt to measure the pressure drop across the core (pre and post reading). Still exhaust is prime candidate still. I've seen cars go from 3" to 3.5" and pickup 20-40rwkw instantly. (when making over 300rwkw)
