Which Tyres! Help! :)
R31Nismoid replied to GTRKat's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Or just get them to send them through at 2x2, avoid all taxes that way. Use a mates address and you are set. A mate recently got tyres and the Fed-EX guy said that's all he is basically delivering at the moment. So gives you an idea of just how many people are doing the same thing. Screw Aussie rip off pricing IMO. There is no way something is $1000-$1500 more expensive on a $1200 (US) item. -
PM hassling does nothing but piss people off - i get sometimes 20 a week about all range of ridiculous things, and on purpose, those people get ignored
-
PHT33 - You are about to be banned if you do not start sorting out the people you have ripped off. SAU will co-operate with ANY Police/Count involvement/requests. We have plenty of your details so it won't be hard to track all of this down should it come to that. Admin

Not the biggest, as stated - however for 2.6l, they are as big as you would realistically go. The larger "-10" are supremely laggy on a 2.6l, suffer from surge issues and so on. Basically not a very good choice and you need a very expensive motor build to make them viable. So as i said, -5 or -9/-7 -5 / 380rwkw -9/-7 / 330rwkw All of those turbos will put you into the 10's if you can drive. -7/-9 will just snip a 10, a -5 will put you well into them. A R32 GTR can do 11.5-11.4 on stock turbo's as it is, so there is no reason the above isn't possible. There is plenty of info/build information on these turbos and which ones you want etc. Best advice - get into a car with each type of turbo, there is bound to be someone in your state. Then see for yourself which you like best. I mean then you also need to factor in other things like clutch. If you are racing, and with -5s - then there is a fair chance you will bust a gearbox as well (strip 3rd is common) as 380rwkw is a fair bit for the ole factory box. Same for diff, you could potentially bust one. So it's not just a motor you need to worry about, there are many $1,000's in "hidden" costs you wont think of. All the above said - it's pretty well covered and you'd do yourself a big favour to actually use the search function. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/310181-gt2860r-7s-9s-5s/ http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/254450-79s-or-5s-garretts/

standard build then 33 crank factory rods/decent rod bolts factory cams whatever piston you want, talk to your builder n1 oil/water pumps a bit of a tidy up of the head, oil restrictors etc. good bearings, assembly, new head studs, manifold studs and all that type of thing. Decent prepping of the block (grout filled and so on) etc etc 700-800cc injectors nismo AFM's Turbo wise, if you want brilliant response, Garrett -7s/-9s. Otherwise if you want a bit more top end with a loss in the response area, garrett -5s. Forget Trust turbos, they will not perform as well as the Garrett items. You will need at LEAST a 3.5" exhaust and a 4" CAT as a minimum requirement. All that is going to set you back around the 10-14k marker drive in/out. Pretty standard build, very bullet-proof and well proven to hold 380-400rwkw as long as it's bolted together well and tuned accordingly.

The d-jetro MUST have/use MAP sensors. That is how it is calibrated. You either use: l-jetro for MAF d-jetro for MAP There is no other way. You cannot have a d-jetro working with MAF as your car stands now. It must have MAP plumbed somewhere.

Well for 300rwkw, a GT35 is the wrong turbo. I told you that not 2 posts above, it is capable of ~370rwkw. If you really did read the dyno graphs, you would have seen this yourself. Either way there are plenty of threads on GT3582 (~370rwkw) and GT3076 (~300rwkw). Please use the search function in future: "GT3582" http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/index.php?app=core&module=search&do=search&fromMainBar=1 "GT3076" http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/index.php?app=core&module=search&do=search&fromMainBar=1

As stated above, please use the PM feature to contact me. I'm not giving out my email address Please be aware that at this point in time, I cannot provide options/details as we are still working out absolute costs. If you PM me, i will PM you back - when i have the information available to me and proposals to distribute to people interested. Thanks Ash

If you don't want "hi kw", then that turbo is a terrible choice. A GT35 is capable of around 370rwkw on a normal day, and not the turbo for a factory motor. So as with all other threads like this, how about we try a bit of Q&A. What are your power goals? What is your budget? What is the use of the car? Do you want to rebuild the motor? What other mods do you have?

Trust is one thing, being blatantly ripped off is another. Because although it's touted that men have ego competition drama's in this department, a chick will always be 10x worse. Same as the 34 incident. Anyway... $35k into a clevo is very much getting stung rotten. Nothing wrong with them in stock/mild form, and my old ZJ used to go around in circles for 45mins without even needing water in the radiator, but alas, that was a long time ago. BUT... You could build a soild, blown LS1 for half that. Weigh less, and have less overall drama's to boot. Forget about a turbo as well. Heat is the enemy, and a turbo is just going to make more of it. lol without a doubt the post of the thread.

Which Tyres! Help! :)
R31Nismoid replied to GTRKat's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
tirerack.com My two choices would be: Yokohama AD08 or Bridgestone RE-11 RE001's will last longer than any of the tyres mentioned thus far, including the 595's and the KU36's. They are nowhere near as soft being the point to note. -
Read the FI Guide. There is a link to "what spark plugs". Has plenty of info. And it's not like a RB26 is magically different to a RB25 making the same power...

Dezz - as Justin posted, 5kms... You might as well just get ADSL It'll be about the same speed and most likely cheaper. But it's a fine line. Also do not go off "Line of Sight" to the exhange. Im only about 400m from it, but in effect i am actually about 800m cause the cabling goes around the fken block or something stupid before it comes back up the street to my complex. And ye, TPG are the bottom of the barrell IMO. When was the last time you saw Labour deliver something on time & less than 20% over budget? It'll be well into the 50mil at the very least if they are touting 40mil at this stage. Guess who's going to pay for that difference? End of the day a NBN is fken pointless as we are still externally limited. People will be under the impression it will bring faster internet, faster web page loads, faster downloads etc. Fact is - it won't. We are still limited by the residential connections to the rest of the world. EG: Residential/Commercial "ping" to the US is around 180-200ms Industry (Oil & Mining companies/big commerce etc) using the super uber sea pipeline is around 70ms Its over a 100% increase to the average peasant just because of the external links. Nothing to do with the network in AUS. By putting in a NBN, the pings/latency will NOT drop for residential people simply because they are not upgrading the O/S & External connections. The money would be better spent on investing in wireless within AUS, and then upgrading the underwater connections for residential/commercial use to similar grade that big business has now. THAT would be a far better way to spend the money and it would actually show tangible benefits. Hell even forget the wireless all together and just do the external connections. Also Telstra's current nutsack strangle hold on everything is fked too. Just to get out of the US via IINET, it takes i think 10 or 11 "hops" across various points to hit the US. Each point adds delay/latency etc. Where as if you are with Telstra the equivalent is about 6 hops IIRC which speeds the net up and gains you can actually feel/notice. Simply put Labour/Conroy etc, all have no fking clue. It's such a gross waste of money and really jacks me off. We are going to pay MORE than we should, get ripped off and end up getting something that in 10yrs time will be old-hat tech.

Wiseco are a common choice down here. More motors with those than any other.
-
You signed up just to post that link? lol what a waste of time.
-
Yep, there was no proper infrastructure planning. There are no trains, limited bus services. No decent phone/communications installs done. Even the roads in these new estates are totally fked. I was driving through Caroline Springs last week and the roads there are worse than Hoddle St that has 1000x the volume of cars It'll be interesting to see in a further 10yrs what happens to these new areas, im slightly worried.
-
Ah i get ya. mmm sounds like you are on the outer rim etc, you are basically fked You also wont be able to get cable if they have not installed it - which i would doubt they have. A mate of mine is having the exact same issue in Caroline Springs. No cable, and only ADSL1 Based on what? The gross waste of 60mil? Pretty much it all has stopped for the time being until everyone knows whats going on.
