  1. oh really? didn't know you could do that... cheers, will sign up tonight!
  2. It has a OS gearset, around 6-7k installed and thats on a good exchange rate day. The FS ad has all the specs, and a long list it is. So I'm not thinking of a GTR, im 100% aware of what the car is (GTS-t) It would be a solid 45-50k round trip to replicate that setup and that is with some heavy shopping around. Hence the only way to sell, part it out. Just about every single person I've known with a 300rwkw or more skyline has parted and sold the car near stock. Most come out at least 5k infront, some as much as 10-12k
  3. most likely. 3" is not enough for 400rwkw+
  4. id like to see you try that, as frankly, it'll never happen. just in gearbox and motor there is well over 15k. add another 20k for purchase price + body work/wheels & other expenditures and you are at 35k, that's without anything else. so the car i can assure you has over 40k, doesn't mean its worth that, but also doesn't mean you'll replicate the setup for 'considerably less' - that is a pipe dream.
  5. the VLt setup will have all you need. you'll find once you source injectors, ecu and so on the end cost will be the same and you've spent endless hours more... time is money, and less effort. upto you of course.
  6. Yes its still for sale, I don't have a box. A 24" monitor box is ridiculous in size to just have sitting around an apartment
  7. Open the ECU cover up.
  8. That's the point Femno was making Who's to say because you built it, that it wont fall apart in 10k --> 30k kms? The fact you want next to no power, have a ridiculously tight budget - its really not making any sense at all. The 2nd hand motor makes more and more sense with each post you make
  9. 3D TV at the moment is a waste of coin, better off getting the best LED/LCD you can for the same price (if you are going to spend "XXX" on a 3D TV). Plus i mean come on, you have a few mates around and you wanna watch a movie and suddenly you need 4-6 sets of glasses and you all look like poofters.
  10. EB will price match - they did it when i grabbed my copy of SC2. So just go in with a brochure from a competitor and you'll be right. They will kick up a stink about it (the guys i approached did at least), but they did it none the less and i was $30 better off someone review the game - on PC, im not convinced it'll be worth it
  11. Characteristics? I want hard specifications. Not some marketing mumbo jumbo. There is hardly an iota of specifications. Doesn't even tell you how heavy the piston is for gods sake. I've had 3 motors (2 26's, one 25) with the apparently inferior pistons - Not one has made any noise on start up. All motors have made 350rwkw+ without a problem, 15,000-20,000kms and compression is fine. Good enough for me, and good enough for the vast majority of users here and around the world. My budgets generally are not tight, I just refuse to waste money on exotic brand name Jap stuff that offers no discernible advantage over another product local or US etc other than to lighten my wallet unnecessarily.
  12. 40k for a motor? Jesus. If thats the case - as per above. Just fork out for a RIPS super banger. I think they are a bit shy of 40k, and with good reason as you'll be needing some gearbox attention
  13. Tomei “cooling channel” are over 3k landed (RRP) Normal Tomei are around 1800 landed (RRP) Wiseco or CP (as an example) that come in around 1k-1.2k landed (RRP) Tell me then please - what exactly do you get for 50% more cost (Tomei standard issue vs Wiseco/CP)? Just reduced piston slap because of slightly different composition? Come on… Hardly a deal breaker. Looks to be nothing drastic either way – as I cannot find a detailed spec sheet which would have me believe it’s probably not a lot different to most other pistson on the market, that for which, you can find detailed spec sheets. Tomei ones don’t magically support another 1000hp, are any less prone to failure or anything else. If the only thing they can claim is reduce piston movement in the bore due to their composition, then that honestly is not a deal breaker at all when you can have a motor built tight enough these days that piston slap isn’t really an issue. I'm all for buying the best parts, but you must be mindful of a budget - and this guy is working to a very tight budget. An extra $600 or so when its simply not required, doesn't help him at all.
  14. Thats nice. Still $600 more expensive than what i said above if you get them outta the US/delivered.
  15. You said it was everything to do with the brand, which is not the case at all as I've said - plenty of OTHER brands can also achieve a "slap"less result when the motor is built right. Hell you could build a shit motor and have Tomei's slap as well, wouldnt be hard with some of the motors I've seen built around the place. End of the day Tomei pistons do not magically achieve something that nobody else has in the realm of piston slap in a cold motor.
  16. *yawn* tomei is the way to a broken bank balance, and this guy doesn't have all the money in the world. IMO you are best to get a set of CP or Wiseco pistsons mate for what you are trying to build at present. Best compromise between price and quality and have been proven in a ridiculous number of 350-400rwkw+ setups.
  17. Search this users posts: “Gav” He went from a 2.6ltr to a 2.8ltr I believe with either large twins or a big single – the increase in response over the entire rev range was excellent. I don't believe cams were changed either (but have a search, he posted some great info) Peak power I believe didn’t really change that much overall, but thats not the point of a stroker. Either way with a 1.0 housing on a T04Z you’ll need every bit of help you can get as IMO it’s a poor choice of turbo and rear housing. There are certainly better combinations out there I would imagine. What is the goal/use of the car? Also the budget?? What parts currently do you have on the car? Going a 2.8ltr isn’t exactly a cheap option, but the gains are there without question. Remember if it spins a bearing and makes a mince of the crank – 3-4k instantly to get a new crank
  18. ^ hope you use another tuner once its rebuilt. rarely hear of a single piston melting on a proper tune.
  19. no doubt they are a good piston. but most motors, built tight... won't have a problem regardless of what brand. motors with wiseco, cp, whatever. ive heard plenty and all of them you couldn't pick if you tried. plenty of tried and proven pistons out there without having to blow $3000 on tomei cooling channel items when a decent set will set you back around 1200. either way to suggest tomei cooling channel as an option in this thread is ridiculous.
  20. Can't say I've heard any "slap" on any of my motors when cold.
  21. of course its the bleed valve, the turbosmart ones are very well known for it. just get a turbotech one if you want a cheap solution.
  22. Min 20 Max 25 works for me. either way remember last year. was meant to rain heavily, and didn't drop one ball of water in 6hrs. no more weather panic BS please
  23. please post items and prices as per forum rules.
  24. you should not be getting spikes on a stockish GTR. if you are, there are other issues.
