  1. ACtually Schedule I of the CAMS manual (http://www.camsmanual.com.au/pdf/10_gen_req/GQ10_Schedule_I_Q411.pdf) covers off their requirements (and recommendations), but fundamentally the shoulder straps should be horizontal to the shoulders, and as short as possible The standard seat belt mounts are not OK according to CAMS because it is more than 40o downwards from the shoulders. Zeb, this is the 5th car we've built over 10 years, and the biggest thing I've learned is racing is incredibly hard on cars. Anything that is not 100% OK will catch you out sooner or later - so do it right the first time. Neat is OK, but it more important to be simple and quality/reliable.
  2. so, I can kind of accept that a mistake could be made and they could be bolted on the wrong side. However it is impossible that they would not notice that when they went to bleed them. Something dodgy there.
  3. jeebus go easy I'm not even 50 yet!
  4. Indeed they are harness mounts, for the lap points. Good location really, between them and the shoulder straps mounted to the cage between the rear strut towers you are held firmly back and down into the seat. 2 more points under the seat for the 5th and 6th belts
  5. omg...better catch it then! HAHAHAHAHAH AHA HAH HAh Ah a HA HAHAHAH HAH AH ah ah ha h AH aHHAHAHA A
  6. dirty ricer I couldn't stay around and wait for you, it was Stagea weather Funnily enough also spotted MADGTR on the bridge but in his CRAPPYTERRIROTY so it doesn't count I guess
  7. +1, genuine race cars built to rules are funny things. Sounds fan-bloody-tastic. Anyway....it's more stagea weather today, I need to hit the highway and terrorise some camrys.
  8. Hi Brad....to be clear, I was not questioning the authenticity of the car, just pointing out the blue plate on the left is on every GTR. There was a discussion around the other blue plate above the motor and what it covers (not the nissan build plate you have posted up either). What is on the other blue plate above the motor? I don't remember having seen one of those before
  9. Neil said flange, and bush, in the same sentence the other day!
  10. copy of evidence, thanks and the person I mentioned is bound to be one of the ones you know But enough off topic for this thread I think.
  11. closer pics of that plate above the engine are required. the one on the left is the standard japanese build plate on every GTR I've seen
  12. I walked into Shaun's silver c34 in the city today. Ouch.
  13. I spotted MARRSSSSS today on the bridge!
  14. Junk eh? done a lot of testing yourself or are you just repeating stuff you see on the internet? I've had no problems with the 3 kits i've bought, and I've only ever seen 1 person who had a problem with the provided brake lines.
  15. Of course they are, pretty much any car in a serious global market like that is for sale. In fact the calsonic R32 almost ended up in Oz a few years back, in the end only price was an issue.
  16. you're a funny guy. Jenna may be A+++....but your racing career is over.
  17. they are certainly not operating as Powerplay Imports. And the shop is long gone
  18. oh god, don't take Pete seriously, no one else does. Here's a sample of him at his best: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/380554-thinking-of-starting-my-own-mini-superlap
  19. damn straight.....it better see a race track this year. Needs front and rear screens and a wheel alignment as the main problems.
  20. Ben (W), are you telling me that all of the top runners were on commerically available tyres? I know what I saw. Even those on commercial tyres ran multiple sets at $2500+ per set on the weekend. The bottom line is, superlap is an extremely expensive supersprint with regs that won't allow you to run anywhere else. So for anyone who knows what they are in for, go for it - it is a hell of a spectacle to see. The committment and creativity shown by the serious competitors is great to see. But anyone who thinks it might be "worth giving a go", or "interesting to try"....either expect to be nowhere in the results, or be ready for disappointment. And huge bills for a once a year event. Ben (the OP one), there are race events at hidden valley and mallala, if I were you I would go through the CAMS 3D (sports sedan) regulations, make any required mods including a proper roll cage, obtain a log book, and go racing. In terms of outright pace for sports sedans, you would probably be right up there in a local field. Given that you are ~1000klm from either track it would probably only be a few events each year anyway. BTW good to hear there are more skylines in town now, when I lived up there, there was only 1 other....the SAU NT cruises were pretty shithouse.
  21. Well I give up on Neil posting up...here are some (crap phone) pics: And most important, the big mod engine bay. Yes, that is a front mount cooler In for log booking on Sunday
  22. sure, but you are a brake whore I've had perfect results with these, even at targa and long races. I've bought 3 sets now for different cars (1 and 2 bolt bridges) and had no problem since the fit/clearance problems on the first set 5+ years ago.
  23. BTW....got this back again lately, and it is running brilliantly. I love the surprised look when the old stagea whooses past in peak hour. fuel useage is better now, but still poor. I haven't had it on the dyno but will post up when I do - it is running very well and making over 300kw for sure (definately makes more power than the race car it is meant to tow). Injectors are now gtr 440s, but the standard AFM is running out of resolution so I don't want to push it further - I am very happy and have no further mods planned for now. Not until I build the new race car, anyway
  24. good brakes are damn cheap: http://www.justjap.com/store/product.php?productid=18716&cat=&page=5
  25. looks like good welding - did you work to the CAMS manual or are you not going to log book it?
