haha been there so many times. mine is cabled tied into off now days

yeah 3071 looks better, thanks titan and ash. surprisingly hard to find dyno graphs for 3071 (although they are on here with patience), the ratio of expectations to actual results is about 90%/10% can't find one for $300 tho
-
Its got a china stainless zorst manifold and china front facing plenum as well. From looking further there must be at least 2 or maybe 3 different turbos called 3040 because people mention .63 all the way to 1.02, and peak power ranges from 270 to 330. If I go one of these I'll make sure its the smallest one. still looking into another china turbo too.
-
yeah that's how the maths looks to me too....but I did commit to looking into something else. Strangely the turbo importer does not think they have to warrant the turbo when it fails thanks mate....might do...standard capacity, head and cams right? I'll check out 3071 and hi flows I guess, maybe gtrs. I was assuming the hi flows and gtrs would be a little small on a 3l even for response, maybe not.

Rb25de (supercharged) Project
Duncan replied to r33_racer's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
yeah it has an electric clutch on the front because the turbo takes over above 5000rpm. just like an ait con compressor clutch -
yeah china t04e is what I am running now. 260awkw @18psi. full boost at 2000. external gate, it holds boost perfectly all the way. they break a lot which doesn't worry me...but the mechanic is trying to talk me into something more expensive.
-
I should restate my goals instead of asking about a turbo. Looking for 250-280kw, with full boost at very low revs. top end > 6000 not important.
-
nah too high before it comes on boost then, I must need something smaller. I like 14psi at 2000. and 250kw is more than enough too so I think this one is too big. thanks tho
-
with a standard rb25 head, external gate what is the max boost it should run? what revs can I expect full boost? about what power? the workshop is recommending against another china turbo against my better judgement....

Rb25de (supercharged) Project

ahh that side! need to box the intake, and consider the resonators like the standard intake system has. nfi how you would guess the right resonator volumes though. the march is damn loud on the intake side when the SC is running too....but it turns off over 5k. -

why not just get a link? same hardware as vipec but cheaper. -

lol complaining about exactly what you were hoping for for the noise....remember that we are all used to a dirty big turbo damping the noise from the motor....supercharger has no such restriction in the exhaust and you have to consider much more muffling than in a turbo setup. I know plenty of turbo cars running no mufflers and "acceptable" noise levels on the track....none of which have anything on even a tiny, non-turbo motor. It was really driven home to me when I pitted next to a (real) mini with side pipes....it was way louder than my race car -
Reimax High Flow Oil Pump Rb30/26dett
Duncan replied to BoostdR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
what turbs? mine are bush bearing (r32 N1) and have no oil restrictor - i have the same issue with my nitto oil pump. presumably it is not such an issue with ball bearing turbos which should run an oil feed restrictor. -
Kel's Super Turbo Super Build

another good question, although it is a 4 seater so maybe not a sports car. If Lofty's starlet or an early rx7 is ipra, surely this would be too? on related news I was speaking to an ipra person on the weekend and their "discussions" on turbos are continuing. their current line of thinking is ditch the restrictor but enforce a factory + x boost limit. If they did something sensible they would double competitors within a year. -

dope is good, right? I am sure they mean 2x 27mm with 2 intakes, not 1x27 if you have 2 chargers, even if that is what is written (ie I'm sure it can be "fixed" as it is not the intent). 2x27mm = 458mm2 intake 1x38mm = 453mm2 intake -
got mine back on the track this weekend, the guys at UAS did a great job. 150+ laps flat out without any temp problems. Basically the only time we stopped was to refuel it. next up is a 1 hour race at wakefield in 5 weeks
-
looks like it was mykk Best is 1.08 in production car form (12psi and 17x8 control tyres). Haven't had a chance to run it at proper boost on proper tyres there I guess it didn't go quicker than 1.09 or maybe high 08s, unfortunately the timer wasn't working. the focus was really on getting some long runs in prior to the 1 hour race there in 4 weeks. yeah about 10kw less on this motor, it is pretty tight compared to some in the past. ran very well though, even though it was literally only run in on the dyno the day before. But it does make very cool flames It was great to see so many new faces out there, and a huge thanks to all the instructors who gave their time to jump into passenger seats....hopefully they were able to provide lots of good tips

Did you try front and rear? I was surprised to find they are different sizes per end. BTW careful with the attessa controller, don't use 2wd mode if it has it -

Thanks Jason, I appreciate you mentioning I actually came across an EJ-1 on Yahoo Japan after about 3 months, and put in a silly high bid to win it, which i did. It was actually in great condition including original box. Just need to sort out the unique wiring in my car and drop it in. Already had the dash. The price in that thread is interesting, I got the setup for about half that price. Still damn expensive but very cool. -
Great work by the organisers today, I thought the day went really well. And like Ron said, the weather was anything but usual for Wakie in July. A huge thanks from us for John, Ben and Dave from UAS, they got our race car back together at about 5pm yesterday and it ran beautifully all day. We did about 15 sessions between Kel, Neil and I, so at least 150 laps. And got though 140l of fuel too (just for you Ben ). No sign of issues with oil or water temp despite almost continuous running. Tried to give as many people a run in the car as we could, but in the end I think we have a turbo seal problem so I parked it.

Congrats on running the car at Wakefield today - some niggling problems I think but that is normal for a first day out. well done
