  1. I would never run a decat Terry, I was just wondering because I was having this conversation with a mate and he told me the fine was in the vicinity of 10k which I found hard to believe :I
  2. Just wanted to know what the fine for running a decat pipe is, and whether anyone's been done for it? I hear the fine is something ridiculous like $10,000 and mobile EPA officers at defect stations can d!ck you for this simply by getting an emissions reading and extrapolating the fact your car is passing out very dirty gases.....can someone shed some light on this?

  4. were any of you guys done on emissions or just noise??
  5. ps. I agree with Anth - not as many skylines/GTRs as I was expecting for my first meet, but still a good night
  6. I also saw a few cameras rolling about. More photos!!!
  7. So the story goes, I was on the way to work today driving through Templestowe and noticed traffic was much heavier than usual at 8.30 in the morning. Started getting flashed by on-coming cars on Porter St and I just thought it was a booze bus (yes, strangely at 8.30 am on a tuesday morning ). As I drove past I saw the havoc, cops directing cars into a nearby carpark to get defected and sent for EPA. Lovely. A mate of mine called me at lunch to ask me if I'd gotten through ok and told me the very same thing was happening on Plenty Rd at the same time - morning to Early arvo. I heard that it was also going down in the Western suburbs later on in the afternoon. Who saw it and who got d!cked by the po po?
  8. I just sold a set of 18x9.5 +12 for $2800 with rubber, bargain!!
  9. Congrats on the sale mate. All good things come to those who wait!!
  10. I was going to say check out Muztek's black GTR. It loos immaculate from photos and hes located in Melb, but yeh I agree with ^, get off the drugs!! 15k for a 33 GTR, you must be on some heavy sh!t
  11. Ali, those calculations were based on the standard tyre size being 245/45R18. I assumed these were the OEM tyre size as my car was complianced with these, but just realised that you are in fact correct, the OEM size is actually 245/40R18. My apologies !! And I think in Melbourne you are allowed a difference of 3% in rolling diameter.
  12. I've got a a mate with a whole 34 GTR engine for sale. PM for his details. Also, you can pick up the 24U N1 blocks for about 13k brand new....even less if your lucky.
  13. Ok, just to clear a few things up. I've been doing a tonne of research, speaking to a few wheel & tyre shops, and also test fitted a few rim and tyre combos, and as it turns out, when replacing the stock R34 GTR wheels with aftermarket 19" ones, the 275/35 tyre combo is actually the CORRECT size to go for. The rolling diameter is almost identical to the stock diameter (literally only 0.4% difference), which means that the speedo readings will be pretty much spot on, not way out as you claimed they'd be. The only problem with the 275/35 combo on 19s is the width of the wheel causing rubbing on the inner plastic gaurds, so to avoid this problem you need to go down to a 265/35, but then the diameter becomes marginally smaller (but still within recommended limits), and the major problem is availability of tyres as this is a very RARE size, which has only really been used/manufactured in recent years on some European cars. Now for 275/30, the rolling diameter becomes way too small (it's 4.4% off factory rolling diameter). So this in fact is the incorrect size. The ride becomes bumpy as hell, rims get very easily damaged, cars (which are already low) become lower, police break balls even more, BUT, the wheels at the front just clear the inner gaurds, and I mean just (only by a few mm). Some people suggested I pull the inner plastic gaurd out, others said cut a hole in it where it rubs, and others said use a heat gun to remould the gaurd - I wasn't too favourable with any of these as I didn't want to bastardise my beloved BNR34. So in my experience and after my dramas, my advice to all R34 GTR owners is stick to a nice set of 18s and go for a tyre size of either 265/35, 265/40, or 275/35
  14. Keep it Shaun!! They sound ridiculously good! - I just had mine put on in place of my nismo !!
  15. Hi all, just wondering if anyone has dealt with the forum member 'PandaGTR'. He PMd me a while ago offering me a part i needed but unfortunately it appears that he doesnt use the forums regularly so I'm having a hard time trying to contact him. Has anyone dealth with him before and have his phone number/email addy? - He's in Vic by the way
  16. Check out my thread which I posted about 2 months ago. The bastards at Just Car put mine up $1400 and I've made NO CLAIMS!! When I called to lose my sh!t at them they told me it was becuase of the floods in QLD and the hail in VIC.......thieves. Lumleys and Shannons are MUCH better if you can convince them to cover you. Better on price, much much better on service. Just car is aimed at younger guys who drive imports with no other insurance options to turn to, so they exploit this fact and charge ridiculous amounts for their cover.
  17. It's a no brainer. Let them pay you out whatever the sum may be, then buy back the wreck from them. I had a friend who did this with his s15. It got written off earlier this year so he got paid out 18k from which he then went and bought back the wrecked car for 4k. He stripped it of all the parts he wanted and sold them off, then sold the remaining wreckage for 7k!! Just from doing that he ended up making another 4-5k on top of the 18 he got paid out If in your case you did this and your car was valued at lets say 18k, you may be lucky to buy back the wreckage for 4-5k and if repairs are truly 5k or even a bit more as you were quoted, then you're making money!
  18. Sexy as hell! I had the pleasure of driving the new Mclaren MP4-12C last week and WWWWOAAAAAW this thiing blew my socks off!! . Launch control is insane, everything in this car was made to hug the road. Feels like its impossible to lose, unless you really really puh it (then I can imagine things would get quite scary..)....and that's just the MP4-12C. I'd imagine the P1 would be all of the above x 10
  19. No luck. Got PMd by another member who told me he was in the process of making some but that theyd be much more than the 300 i was expecting them to be around. Contacted the guys in the UK, they said they can get me the hasemi ones but for about 750 AUD
  20. That's what the forums are for! Talking about common problems!! Hmmm. Has anyone moulded it with a heat gun and stopped the rubbing completely??? I'm not entirely sure but I doubt this is possible on the right side without custom fabrication as the BOV is literally right behind the gaurd
  21. Ok, another question for everyone. Who has pulled out the inner plastic gaurds from their skyline (due to rubbing tyres) and had any complications/issues because of it?? I'm very tempted to pull out the 2 front plastic gaurds on my GTR but am worried that this will expose my BOV and what not to water/dirt, and also the possibility of my tyres rubbing against the BOV itself!! Has anyone done this on an R34 GTR?? What are the risks involved with doing this?? I've heard of people using a heat gun to make the gaurd bigger though that doesnt exactly work as the standard BOV is RIGHT behind the front right gaurd....
