  1. Ooh thats scary. I would never risk that. D I Y Carcareproducts .com.au. Cheap and local (aus), good service too. Im going to paint my car this summer, so i got a big box of stuff: massive selection of cloths, polishes, clay bar kit, DA and 7 different pads for it, and other sprays n stuff. No ive never done it before, but thats what youtube is good for, expert advice.
  2. The old and the new.
  3. Finished the engine bay finally. Took a lot longer than i thought it would. Thats the problem with too many mods, you have to work it out yourself, how its all going together. Pipe didnt fit, things have moved about 15mm, lucky i had some extra bits to make it work. A transmission cooler off a ford at the wreckers, nice and solid, for a return line fuel cooler behind the diff. And $115 delivered, cheapest i could find, made in taiwan. Old and new.
  4. Diffs been done, they send it back tomorrow. Kaaz 2 way, kaaz oil, bearings, seals, installed professionally, for $1890. I probably could not do it myself for that price, or very close. So im very happy, thank you Award diff and gearbox.
  5. Nice! Thats a smooth lap, nice flow. Smooth as. Thats the secret to fast.
  6. Re fitted my oil lines today, its a messy difficult job cutting the hoses and re fitting an end on each one. This is the pic i used to set mine up.
  7. Just a word of warning: No ute makes life harder, mines gone, no more piles of sand or gravel, you cant transport this stuff in a wagon! Stuffing a gearbox in a boot sux, wheels and tyres in the back seat, boot and front seat, or they wont fit......... get the picture?
  8. The ghost in the machine, (deus ex machina) Pink is love, from all the attention youve given her. She loves you back.
  9. Read this: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/35129-im-buying-a-skyline-what-should-i-look-for/
  10. Gave my back a good twist this morning, so i was like an old man all day. Last nights chilli & pepperoni added to the effect. But i did manage to get some stuff done, a bit of fabricating, new steering cooler, getting it together.
  11. Yeah right. Thats what you get for buying a car from idiots. Bits put together wrong. So many....... Anyway, another one to fix. Ill swap them around.
  12. Got my rear tyres fitted, 255, 40, 17. Must massage the guards out a little more, 10-15mm. Got the box made last night, to cover my wiring mess. fits good, and i didnt snap it this time as ive made it stronger. All the little hoses and bits connected up, now i have to make some bits to mount the oil and pwr steering coolers properly. And then more stuff to make properly, no more bodgy brackets with rivets and stuff. Radiator top brackets are going to be tricky to make look good.
  13. Spent ages making a perspex box... and snapped it on install. Got a few more bits in the engine bay, got my oilcap today same as robs. Spoke to Award diff and gearbox, no 1.5 way diffs for 6 weeks, Kaaz is behind in manufacturing, and Nismo got fked up by a tsunami. Going with a Kaaz 2 way. 1800 and something dollars for a properly installed 2 way, thankyou. Couldnt do it cheaper if i did it myself. Should be ready monday, which means ill have it back and installed by friday.
  14. The $70 one is made by NGK Japan. I got mine from Kudos
  15. Plus all the extra junk ive put on. thermofans, gauge senders, earth kit, sloppy wiring by me going to be neater.
  16. Getting there... still need to clean up and make a cover for the mess of wires on the left there. And put he rest back of course. Waiting for red oil cap to finish it off.
  17. Diff is out, gone to award diff and gearbox for a new centre. The old viscous centre wasnt much good. Engine bay is getting a clean up while i wait. reo plates for the intercooler pipe holes
  18. On the slave cylinder If the bleed nipple is not at the high point, it wont bleed the air out.
  19. Is this all because alloy has to fit perfect to weld or you get holes n stuff? I know with steel you wouldnt need a linisher to get it that perfect for welding. I just got a cheap mig welder and havent tried alloy yet, so im curious.
  20. Still wet and looks glossy, should dry as a satin finish. Hey rob i just noticed this thread you started is at 100 pages!
  21. Hey Rob, if you want those cam covers shiny and never have to polish again....... Ever do metalwork at school? remember that Josco buffing compound? Its REALLY good, very effective. you can buff it so hard even the gouges from the grinder get polished. And then this clear adhesion promoter, and clear gloss over that, even the tie coat is glossy so you wouldnt really need more clear. So its polished under the paint, and as you know bare alloy oxidises nearly instantly, but this cant happen now with a protective coating. And no more oil or coolant stains that take ages to buff out. Anyway you can borrow if you want.
  22. Ive spent hours stripping the paint, sanding and polishing my valley cover. At first it was a bit lumpy, but ive got it good now, sanded nice and flat, just needs final polish.
