  1. 225/50 18 - Is this a mis-type - seems a high profile?
  2. I've got a brand new, in box set of EBC Redstuff front pads for a 350GT Coupe that I no longer need. The part number is DP31636C. I want $120 for them, plus postage at cost - they are in Adelaide. I ran Redstuff front & rear before I put Akebonos on, and was very happy with them. The initial bite in particular was excellent compared to whatever pads were on the car when I bought it. I bought my Redstuff's from the UK, and ordered a spare set of fronts as I use the car for events, and expected to need them within the year. This set hasn't been used, nor fitted - they are brand spanking new. I have had them since late last year. EBC's promo info says: "As EBC’s flagship street brake pad material for prestige and faster cars above 200BHP the 09 version on EBC Redstuff sets new standards in brake performance. Redstuff has always been known for its low dust ability but the latest blend has greatly reduced the phenomenon of pad “Pick up” or disc scoring and reduced dust even further."
  3. If it helps - my rotors are 292mm diameter & 16mm thick. The calipers have "15" & "4306" cast next to the bleed nipple, and "27A" cast above where the pads sit. I've got a full set of F&R rotors & calipers in the shed, so if you want any measurements or pics let me know.
  4. I've got the original rear rotors of my coupe in the shed, and just measured them at 55mm (actually closer to 54mm). Both have a small un-worn (is that even a word) strip around the outer rim, so the pads definitely weren't overhanging the rotor. Just to clarify, I have a 2003 premium coupe, and these were the standard (non-brembo) brakes. Were there different calipers on different years?
  5. My locksmith was able to copy a key with a chip that starts the car, but not the remote lock/unlock feature. I have one original key (with the lock buttons), and the copied one. If the original ever stops working I'll just put an alarm in that comes with remotes.
  6. There used to be a 2" rule, but I'm pretty sure it's been replaced by the 15mm rule (as above). I am certain this is the case in SA, and believe it is in other states. Even so, 18" was an OEM size on the 350GT Coupe, so a 20" rim would fit within the 2" rule, and should be fine as long as the tyre diameter is within 15mm of stock.
  7. Grand Auto Wreckers in SA advertise as having V35 parts - http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/christie-downs/wrecking/nissan-skyline-r32-r33-r34-v35-datsun-parts/1016069870
  8. I think you may be reading the rim size rules wrong. The way I read them the rim diameter doesn't come into the equation - they are talking about the rim width, and the tyre diameter (not the rim diameter). As long as your tyre's diameter is no more than 15mm larger than the largest size on the sticker, and no more than 15mm smaller than the smallest size, you will be fine. If you have 20" rims you just have to have lower profile tyres, which I'm sure you already have. There are lots of online tyre calculators you can use to confirm your sizes - I use http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html. The standard tyres on my 03 Coupe are 225/45 x 18 front (659.7mm diameter) and 245/45 x 18 rear (677.7mm diameter). Having said that I've got a stock set of 17" Coupe rims that I'd happily swap for your 20's
  9. Be aware that the stock 350Gt Coupe 18" rims won't fit over the front Akebonos without a bit of creative work with a sander & file.
  10. What used to be Revs is now PPSR - Personal Property Securities Register - and you can run a check at http://www.ppsr.gov.au/Pages/ppsr.aspx (although it's down at the moment). Cost is minimal - $3.70 or something, paid by credit card. It's a national database now, rather than state based.
  11. The crankshaft guy at Prospect is called "Crankshaft Grinding Specialist" - he's an old school tradesman who does a good job.
  12. How heavy is it? Can 2 people lift it in & out of a station wagon? Do you have a photo?
  13. Well you had it at $100 & then asked for offers, so I made an offer. How much will you sell it for?
  14. I have 2 only Toyo R1R 245/40R17 Semi-slicks for sale. I bought these earlier this year for my V35 - it runs staggered front / rear sizes, and these were for the rear. They have been fitted to rims, but have never been used. I've bought a big brake kit for my car, and 17's don't fit over the front brakes. The front tyres are sold, and the rears are for sale. These are excellent for trackdays, hillclimb, and many other types of motorsport. Pic of the tyre (not actually mine) is at http://musclecarnews.tenmagazines.com/articleImages/37848.jpg You can buy these from St George Tyres in Sydney on ebay for $359 for a pair, plus $45 freight to SA (so $404 shipped). I will sell these for $340, and they are already in Adelaide. If you want 4 of them you can still get the other 2 from Sydney. I've also got a set of 4 Nissan V35 Coupe alloy wheels - fronts are 7.5" x 17 & rears are 8" x 17, 5 x 114 PCD, +30 Offset, 66.1mm hub. They aren't perfect (were going to be my track wheels) but are pretty good. They are the same as these (pic is not mine, but the same rims) -http://img843.imageshack.us/img843/9718/imag0074c.jpg They'll fit Nissan 5 stud (duh), Ford after AU, Supra / Soarer (with hub rings), and numerous other Jap cars. I want $250 for the set. As a bonus if you want the semis & the rims, they are already fitted & balanced.
  15. What is the width, offset & hub size of the rims?
  16. Can I ask about the harness bar location? Is it "normal" for the harness bar to be attached between the rear legs, or between the main hoop uprights? I understood that the shorter the shoulder straps the better - less stretch (I am no expert, just wanting to clarify:). What about "stays" for the harness straps, on the harness bar? I've seen rod bent to a U shape & welded to the harness bar so the straps can't slide very far in either direction - is this usual?
  17. Getting a rego refund will depend on which state it's coming from. Son bought a Vic car a few years ago, we handed the Vic rego plates in here (any ServiceSA office), got a receipt for them, then filled out a Vic form (downloaded from their website) and sent the form & number plate receipt back to Vic rego & got a refund on 6 months worth of rego a few weeks later. Bought a car from NSW a few months ago for my wife, and it had a couple of months rego left. Looked into getting a refund, but in NSW I had to pay a fee to put it in my name first (didn't have to pay stamp duty there though), then another cancellation fee, before I could get a refund. Worked it out & I would have got about $20 back, so didn't bother. Changed it to SA reg & handed the NSW plates in here. If the NSW rego was for a longer period I would have arranged with the PO to cancel it & share the refund, but I needed the rego for a few days to get the car home. Not sure how the other states work - Vic & NSW are the only ones I've bought from. Registering the car here at a later date would be the same as bringing any interstate car in - just the ID check at Regency. I believe if you turn up for the ID check with obvious defects they will send you for a full Regency check - once you've made the track car decision it would be hard to go bck & get rego. I'd keep a record of the interstate rego number & previous owner's details just in case. Registration isn't proof of ownership. If you don't want to register it you don't have to do anything with TransportSA (or whatever they are called this week). Make sure you get a proper receipt for the purchase, including the PO's name & address - that will be your proof.
  18. Just a heads up about the Adelaide Hills Tarmac Rally. This is on the 22nd & 23rd of June, and they will be having a tour class. This class is a non-competitive, non-timed event for everyday cars. The participants drive the same roads as the competitors, including the closed special stages, but are limited to 130kph on the special stages (supposedly - as long as you don't catch the tour leader....). You can enter for a single day - cost last year was $400, but this is for the car & includes 2 people. I drove with my son, and we swapped driver / nav positions every couple of stages. It was a really good day out - more fun and easier on the car than a track day. You do need a L2S Cams licence, and a helmet (only worn on the special stages). Your car will be scrutineered fairly thoroughly, so it needs to be in pretty good nick with everything working. You don't need a cage, or a driving suit etc. The supp regs haven't been released yet, but thyt are close. Further info is available from http://www.ahtr.com.au/ My only association with the event was driving 1 day last year, but if anyone wants more info I'd be happy to assist.
  19. +1 for Internode over Adam - just a more professional outfit in every way.
  20. Mushilea - where did you get the hood dampers from? Are they available as a direct bolt-on, or did you make something fit? Any drilling required?
  21. Installed my new brakes - 370Z Akebonos front & rear. Second pic shows stock size front rotors vs new 350mm x 32mm front rotors. My stock premium coupe 18" rims won't fit over the front brakes - need to either get different rims or try a small spacer. I've got a set of 350Z rims that fit, so have them on for the moment.
  22. Anyone looking for semi-slicks for the track day - I've just posted a brand new set of R1Rs fitted to rims in the SA For Sale thread.
  23. 4 x 17" V35 rims - rears are 17x8 +33, fronts are 17x7.5 +30 - 5 x 114.3 PCD & 66mm centre hub. These are the OEM rims off a V35 350GT non-premium coupe, but will fit many other models. plus 2 x Toyo Proxes R1R 235/40ZR17 road-legal semi-slick tyres, fitted to front rims but not to car - never been used plus 2 x Toyo Proxes R1R 245/40ZR17 road-legal semi-slick tyres, fitted to rear rims but not to car - never been used The rims are in pretty good condition. They had a little bit of rash on the outer lips when I bought them, but I sanded it back & touched them up with a brush - they were track rims so I wasn't too fussed. The tyres were bought brand new earlier this year, then fitted to the rims & balanced, ready for hillclimbs & track days this year. I haven't had a chance to use them yet, so the tyres haven't even been on the car. On an impulse I've bought an Akebono big brake kit, and the 17" rims won't fit over the front calipers - my loss can be your gain. If you plan to hillclimb or track your car, these tyres will give you a huge advantage over street tyres. I'm after $1000 for the lot, ready to bolt onto your car & go to the track. If there's no interest in these as a package I will consider separating tyres & rims, and also selling the tyres in pairs. I bought slightly different sizes because the V35 has a staggered fitment, and wanted to maintain that. The sizes I have are a lot closer front-rear than the stock sizes, and I would be happy to run them on any non-AWD skyline. Interested - reply here or call me on 0418 841 730. Pics available if required. Pickup only from Golden Grove SA. Perfect for the SAU SA track day:)
