Yeh a date would be good. If its in 2 weeks time i will struggle, If its in 6 weeks time, no prob. If its in 4 months time then i mayhave a few extra tricks on my car

And the one lap thing will help cars i think. I know if its only one lap i will ahve a better chance, as the cars with serious brakes, coolign systems will be able to get a better go at a quicker time. With stockish brakes and coolign system, and std engine, i cna give it 1.4bar for one lap and its will be a good chance of holding together :D

You put your name down Roy?  Woud be good to see you out there again as your silver under dog used to go hard and give a few  R33's and even some GTR's  a hurry up.

Yeh im down...im expecting them to only invite 10-12 cars, and would expect the base lap time to be about 1:09s or better, so doubt i will get a look in.

It would be interesting if there was a "Workshop Car" class, street car class etc. The i may have a chance...but right now if i make it i will just have to lay back and be the village idiot

Why only 12 cars do you think or have they said this somewhere and if so where? Not much of a show. They would have to have a lot more than that I would think.

Ahh 1 lap would kinda help those who have dropped by before. I think you'll find the serious ricers will find someone to drive the car for them, and I bet the open day before will be full of people practicing.

John, Dunlop DZ02J are the tyres of choice, or some of those purty Pirelli Corsas if you cant get the dunlops big enough

Or if you are really serious and its less than 3 laps at a time, Bridgestone re55s wets would be the go

Ok - apparently I'm in :D

They had 420 entries and they are culling them down to 30 cars. There is 2 classes - race class and street class. So - street registered cars V's full race cars. There was also a huge % of GTR's entered and they want to try and mix up the types of cars as much as possible.

Also they are looking at doing it "mid March" which is the only issue since I'm already committed to doing the Calder Rally Masters on March 11-12. But apparently it will be a 2 day event as well with basically practise sessions given to everyone with lots of cars on the track and multiple laps before they settle down to the day of single timed laps.

OK sounds good and los of GTR's to play with. 420 entries that is huge.

Yep Dunlops good although cost. Depends on time of year if winter maybe the RE55 as sound like softer.

Hey my car was in HPI way back. Only bling on my beast is bonus of function. I know what you mean though some bling cars are slower than stock cars in fact especially with good driver.

Sounding like a good show with some tough cars. Will see when the rubber hits it.

I remember that day at Sandown, Snowie (the Ice Supra pic). The Ricebucket was pissing oil everywhere and it went all up the side of my nice 33 in right of pic :)

No love for 33's Pete, it's not a slider's battle; now where's my sump dammit? :P Maybe Drunken can bring it as cabin luggage next time he's down.

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
