Hey guys,

My car was parked at my mechanics for a little work, the factory next door burnt down, ash travelled from that factory into the workshop, many cars were completly covered, fortunately mine only had some ash on the rear end, most of it just came off instantly, but there is this stubborn section that not coming off with a cloth, the boys at the workshop had already cleaned up the rest when i got there. :P (refer to pics)

Anybody have any experience here?

How can i safely remove it?

I'd hate for it to spread, or stain other portions of the car, as my car is white...

Thanks in advance,

Ali.

nope.... Bug and tar remover would be best. I use turtle wax brand. Apparently works like a really fine cutting compound. Had to use it on my car cause it had been sitting out side and the dirt had stained the paint a bit. worked a treat.

Bollocks to all of that. Go and get yourself a spray can of WD40. Hose it on any ash/tar/rubber & then wipe the stuff off. Job done. I use it all the time to get all the little melted bits of rubber you pick up on the track from other cars. It will basically shift any hydrocarbon based gunk.
