I don't think you can get them anymore from Japan - as the earliest versions are 1990 and don't come under the old 15 year rule anymore. And AFAIK there is no SEVS compliance for them.

I got mine locally - already brought in. The guy a I got it from was a old fella (53) and had too many cars - it's bog stock (for now). Orig 70,000 kms and the owner did about 2000kms on it. I love it - been driving around in it all arvo and evening - plenty of power, good road feel - very solid feel.

It's in excellent condition too - hardly a scratch on it. New wheels and tyres. etc.

Good Val !

Keen to tak it down the 1/4 - apprently these babys can fo a 14 sec quarter stockm with the auto !

Have my eye on a cooler kit , zorst, boost, ECU etc ! But for now enjoying the standard ride -

It's so quiet when cruising - except when you out your foot down and you can then hear the turbos spool !

Wooo Hooo !

Ha Ha - I know of Alex - he used to be in Brookvale - Damn it ! that would have been good ! Have heard good things about him !

Rotarys - RB's - they all blow up eventually - right Duncan ?

yeah, just don't B-man it B-man! or should that be: Don't D-man it B-man?

either way it's a pretty cool car, if you are down with massive land yachts (i cant talk...own a soarer).

I reckon big stall, shift kit, TO4Z, all the other crap to go with. and away you go.

and, told you 928s were crap-o. i knew once you drove one you would agree... totaly pants.

Fatz - you are dreaming mate - just did a search on carsales.com. Cheapest 911 that is post 1995 is like $90K. More like 120K-140K.

911's that are <50K are 1970's models as har as I can tell

Porsche's post 1995 between 30K and 60K are only Boxters. (everyone has one of them)

lol

what the paper askes for and what they sell for ar completly diffrent

whatch how long the 80k 911's stay in the paper for

50 k's the going rate for one iwth 100k on the clock... the owners want 80k they get 50-60k

cosmo yea baby been in naths old one(looks verysimilar to that went a treat

there is only one plate you can get:

455 MAN

as in: "I'm cosmo kramer...the ass man."

it's funny on so many levels.

that would be dope. do it B-man.

pimpin.

UPDATE !

Well, for those of you who said that 928 owners are wankers ! YOU ARE CORRECT !

I looked at a few and spoke to a fair few owners - they are all up themselves and think the 928 is God's gift to cars - And after driving a few - they are definitely not !

So - Project Porsce is scrapped ! I have yet again come to my senses. Well at least for the minute.

Anyhoooo.

Since I have gone off the style of the Aristo - Yeah, they do look like a Camry - I contemplated what to get. I didn't want a Skyline again (sorry boys) - been there done that - twice......

I wanted a good performer - good looks - not too much attention ....

so

Today I bought this:

JCESE100972e.jpg

Yeah - I am crazy !

But it is a very very nice car !

And, yes - it is a 20B twin turbo !

thats the shit!!!well done, 20B FTW :P

    • Yeah, it's getting like that, my daughter is coming over on Thursday to help me remove the bonnet so I can install the Carbuilders underbonnet stuff,  I might get her to give me a hand and remove the hardtop, maybe, because on really hot days the detachable hardtop helps the aircon keep the interior cool, the heat just punches straight through to rag top I also don't have enough hair for the "wind in the hair" experience, so there is that....LOL
    • Could be falling edge/rising edge is set wrong. Are you getting sync errors?
    • On BMWs what I do because I'm more confident that I can't instantly crush the pinch welds and do thousands of USD in chassis damage is use a set of rubber jacking pads designed to protect the chassis/plastic adapter and raise a corner of the car, place the aforementioned 2x12 inch wooden planks under a tire, drop the car, then this normally gives me enough clearance to get to the front central jack point. If you don't need it to be a ramp it only needs to be 1-1.5 feet long. On my R33 I do not trust the pinch welds to tolerate any of this so I drive up on the ramps. Before then when I had to get a new floor jack that no longer cleared the front lip I removed it to get enough clearance to put the jack under it. Once you're on the ramps once you simply never let the car down to the ground. It lives on the ramps or on jack stands.
    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
