From my experience and Scotsman who spoke to racepace a while ago. He said ben said some pfc's do it and some don't. It seems to happen when the pfc jumps out of or into closed loop - using the o2 sensor. You can stop it by turning the o2 sensors off I have been told.

Didn't read the whole thread though. Am I close??

Mine were always off. Still did it. Tried the old extra ground to the ignitor trick, no good......

Carton to the person that gets rid of this damn hiccup for good!

i have the same problem but i have splitfire coils, hks ignition amplifier new plugs and earth lead and still does it, i am however going to put a new ignition sub harness hope this fixes it.

a little more information if it helps anyone with ideas, i run PFC 8.04a and suffer from the hesitation. a little while back i swapped it out with a mate running the exact same version, ran it for a period of maybe 3 - 4 weeks without a hitch. swapped back and the problem came back with it. so it was looking like it was only specific units, however recently his has started getting the problem after a long period of hassel free driving... as mine was second hand when i first received it and his only played up after a while, could it be somethin that comes with age? something breaking down?? has anyone had the problem with a new from the box PFC?

i'd be interested in the pin connector (blue thing) and the state of it

is your securely fastened and neat or is the wiring shabby and kinked etc?

it could be something as simple as the pins for the ign for each cylinder is a little weak/finicky

and when users remove the stock ecu and fit the PFC its enough movement to make it not contact properly

its a long shot , but would explain how your mate now has the issue you mentioned - only after removing ECU and plugged in a new one

so it could be the connector on the car side (blue plug) or the socket on the BNR32 PFC's

put in splitfires STILL DID IT

changed the ignitor STILL DID IT

changed the cas STILL DID IT

added earth wires STILL DID IT

I got over it...seems too hard.

Any other model car do it? Like 33 GTSt etc..

yes does it without hand controller, i try leave my controller unplugged so stupid passengers dont go "ohhh can i play the playstation" and pick it up and end up with god knows what. as for my wiring, you could say its a bit of a mess its an accomplishment in itself to unplug the thing.

Ive just removed my twin turbos and replaced with large single so its going for a tune next week, ill ask matt spri at PITS if he has any ideas that man knows PFC's like the back of his hand.

Tried regrounding the ignitor pack and no sucess, has anyone tried to contact apexi in japan and ask for a fix. Maybe it maybe a companent in the ecu which is not soldered in, software????? This is very annoying

Anyone tried running datalogit with sucess maybe a solution if someone does.

Mine is doing this too - such a pain. I think Paul you might be on to something with the pins - going to get in and push on each of the IGN wires hope it makes a different.

Some days it wont do it at all, other days it will do it every 15 minutes.

I had never had this problem with my BNR32. I have a completely new ignition system, all looms, earthing kit, HKS DLI twin power, Splitfires. But I had my engine rebuilt, and since getting it back, I get this damned hiccup/stumble at around 2500rpm at light throttle. It usually misfires once, but sometimes twice.

I question whether its an ignition problem because I have wideband logs. If it were an ignition misfire, the AFR would spike rich, and ignition cuts are smooth anyways. This hiccup is a slight jolt, and if you've ever hit a fuel cut limiter, you'll know just how bad a fuel-cut jolt can be!! Anyways, when it misfires, the AFR spikes LEAN. Meaning, the ECU is cutting an injector or two...implying a software bug.

But the thing is, it hadn't done it before. Only after getting rebuilt, and my earthing wires did get moved around to different locations. I'll try to put them back where I had them, see if that makes any difference.

i have a 95 r33 gtr, with power fc, and have the occasional hiccup with the car at light loads, generally ~2500-3500rpm....

Im so used to it now it doesnt bother me (so long as it doesnt damage its all good)......i have it happen once every few days....

both my 32 GTRs have done it. one didn't do it for years, maybe 2 or 3 years with the PFC fitted. then out of the blue it started. not very often though, and it's not very bad, just a minor anoyance. the other GTR had big $ engine, turbos, cams, AFMS, the full monty and it did it too. the PFC in the first one I bought used (but 8.04a) the other one I bought brand new also 8.04a.

I must confess I've done bugger all to fix it. but the first car I mentioned is about to get new AFMs, new injectors and brand new engine, and new coil pack harness and new grounding kit so hopefully it disapears.

Sounds like ignition problem. When tehre is a missfire, the AFR goes lean, as an O2 sensor measure oxygen, which there is plenty when there is no spark.

    • For these last 7 years of ownership, I've always had to use a small scissor jack under one of the front tow hooks to raise the front just enough so my low-profile jack fits under to reach my subframe jack point. I'm beginning to get annoyed of always having to do this. Are there any lower low-profile jacks that fit under the gtr lip on a dropped car?
    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed 
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
