I had a great day. First time at Winton and andfirst time on a track for 2 years. Unfortunately my day was cut short with the loss of 3rd gear synchro :D

Fanatstic time there Dane. I wias really impressed with your speed coming through the s onto the straight. I think Ray might need to get some wider tyres for more grip, otherwise there might be a new SR20 ontop. :P

Hey Nick, thanks for the compliments mate. I was really trying to nail that section, and it seemed to pay off, apart from one hairy incident! whoops haha :D

You should be pretty happy with your time too mate, very quick times mate considering you were on street tyres! Sorry to hear about the box, I just broke mine a few weeks back...

It's because we are cool John! :nyaanyaa:

Have already been talking to Charles from Autosalon and we'll be bringing a whole posse of these cool cars upto Wakefield for Rnd 2 of that Circuit Battle in November.

Watch out for the Vic invasion.

You guys get some awesome roll up of tough cars down in Melbourne town for some reason way more than Sydney or anywhere else in Australia.

You better believe it John!!! :) NSW lacks some quick circuit GTR's, plenty down here in Melbourne

Cheers,

Jack

Chr1st Dane, didnt realise that your car had a kevlar Recaro!!! NOICE!!!

And all the mod rwd guys into the 1:39-40s your first goes there...thats 2 seconds quicker then i have gone:(

It would be so much more fun to be out there with some more cars in mod rwd...its killing me sitting out all these rounds.

...Thats it, i have decided im taking holidays and going to get my car back on the road...all these SR20s, need to get the yard stick out and see if the RB20 can keep up

2.0lts belong to 4cyl's, you need real power Troy, get a 2.5 mate!!!! ;)

I know you want too.......;)

:D

**Stirs the pot**

Too all GTR owners, i do realise RB26 is KING, just the 25 i alot more affordable :)

Actually, when i get my car back on the road, if the massive exhaust leak is something minor then im sticking with the Trust setup and 2L, which means all my new gear/manifold etc will be for sale. If the manifold is cracked etc i will probably finish the new engine...but im looking at stopping the spend on the car. I have spent more on my car the last 2 years on my car then i did the previous 4 years and i have done next to no trackdays....doenst make sense and is shitting me. Try doing 14-16 track day a year to none the past 12 months, and only doing 5 or 6 the year before ....;) ;)

Yep will be great to have you guys up to the Circuit Battle and no not many tough GTR's or anything else up here for that matter.

I have a new mech started here at UAS who has done some improvements to the Slot Car. He worked for East Coast Suspension up here in Sydney who are a very good race Suspension workshop, and his last job was 2 years for a V8 Super car team. He has also pit crewed for lots of Konica cup and Porsche race teams etc Anyway he has sorted out my slot car. We now have digital corner weigh scales and found my car was way out and adjusted now and sorted also as I suspected has massive bump steer problems and now sorted. Went out to Eastern Creek last Friday with some of the Zed clan and SAU boys although it was wet and oil on the track so no good. But you guys had better have your s.... together or an old bloke in a boat my beat you.

John, i feel very strongly about UAS needing a demo R32...i know the perfect car :D

Then you can give them grief about a boat and an old man beating them as well as an RB20 with a hillbillie driving :D

Yeah go Roy and good to see you are still having a go or sounds like getting ready to again. Will stick with the Zed its has got potential and if everyone had a zed I might get a GTR. I think GTR's are a great track car and awesome road car.

Re the tyres maybe, mabye not and not advantage in the wet at least. Re the Hoosier semi slicks may or may not be better than the other semi slicks at twice the price Dunlop or Bridgestone which is the main reason I use them as they are cheap. The guys up here are always looking for a reason why the zed goes so well and I have given up explaining why they are under estimated. Check out the latest Zoom mag for a story on it and explanation about the physics and facts of the matter. I may well go faster with other semi slicks.

I have been using old and quite worn, but free slicks in Sydney for years and the guys ap here are always saying yes but John you have slicks. I have said many times yes but old, hard and worn and if I had new semi slicks I reckon I would be faster. So I finally bought some and go out and guess what?? .37 sec faster at Oran South than best ever on slicks and many goes at that with slicks. My zed does have a lot of GTR part in it though. Oran South did a 47.99 compared to 48.36 best ever. At one point there I said OK guys I give up I am top driver and my workshop are unreal, but set up and driving has a lot to do with it, however the car is under estimated and not such a suprise for those in the know. I might add not many serious GTR's up here compared to you guys. Although a well set up S15 could well beat zeds and GTRs. I won't mention GT3's.

Hey John, no doubt the zed is very quick around the track, I admire your persistence and the fact that your different to others. Its good to see something out there other than a Skyline performing so well...

I think the main difference between your car and the GTR's down here in Melb is that they can be daily driven, on the street. Most of us guys haven't stripped out any weight and you know how much of a lard the GTR is.....

I guess what I'm sying is that its hard to compare a street GTR to a fully race prepped slot car, and we won't even start talking about tyres!!!

Would be great to see how the cars compare on the track if this track day at EC was to eventuate... after all I here EC is a HP track....

Although a well set up S15 could well beat zeds and GTRs. I won't mention GT3's.

The quickest GTR's down here are faster than the GT3's.... and as Jack said, our GTR's are also full road cars, not stripped, and i still drive mine to and from work everyday (but i'm one of the slow ones).

    • @666DAN sorry to bring you and old thread.     I've got my de+t done and it's all running great other than 1 small issue.    Car has remained auto with the na auto and tcm, I've used a stagea ecu with. NIstune board and everything is great other than my gear selection on the dash. It illuminates park, reverse, neutral, 3rd and 2nd when selected . But nothing when in  drive or what gear your in when you pop it into tiptronic. I'm sure there is maybe 1 wire in the ecu plug I need to move to rectify this. Do ya have any ideas?     Cheers man
    • Well I recently changed my rear axles and was thinking if I bumped anything, I have been driving the car for a while now though... But it has been raining today so everything is wet under the wheel arches. Brakes feel fine and can't hear any of the metal screamers, I had a squeak coming from one of the handbrake drums but that seems to have gone away a while ago. I was going down a hill when it lit up and I did feel the abs bite for a second and question why it did it?
    • Correct. Um. I dunno. I haven't cared enough about the way that the NA cars work to know for sure. But..... The 33/34 turbo manual cars have an electronic speed sensor in the gearbox that outputs a +/- (ie, sawtooth AC) voltage signal. That is connected to the speedo. The speedo then outputs a 0-5v square wave (ie, PWM) signal that the ECU (and any other CU on the bus) sees. The speed sensor is NOT directly connected to the ECU. So here's the problem. Your new ECU expects to see the PWM signal, but must somehow be getting a direct signal from the diff speed sensor. Which would suggest that the wiring of the NA car is not the same as the turbo cars. I think you will need to spend some time with (hopefully the wiring diagram for the car) and a multimeter to see what is connected to what. Then, presuming I am correct**, you would then want to separate the ECU speed signal input from the rest of the car's wiring, and probably either buy a speed signal converter, or build one using an arduino (or similar). That would take in the speed sensor signal and output a scaled (and suitably rearranged) signal for the ECU. ** We shouldn't presume that I am correct here, because there might be something else crazy going on. I don't think you could convert the speedo to be fed from the gearbox sensor, because the pulse rate from that sensor is probably different to the diff sensor and then the speedo would read wrongly. And this also wouldn't fix the ECU's problem either, because the ECU doesn't want to see the gearbox signal direct either (assuming that they are all on the same wiring, for some odd NA related reason, see above caveat!) Does this help? Probably not. Can you make it work? Almost certainly. With the above work. You should buy a handheld oscilloscope from Aliexpress so that you can view these signals directly. Connect up the probes and drive the car. Show photos of the screen when drving at known speeds and connected to different places, and we'll see what we can learn about it.
    • Assuming your brake pads are not worn right down, I'd add a little brake fluid. Is there any sign of a brake fluid leak?
    • Hello all,  I need of some help. On my drive home my handbrake light lit up and started flashing. When I got home I checked my handbrake sensor under the centre console and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. I have scanned my car via the consult port, no codes shown. Checked my brake fluid as well which is half full. Tried unplugging the brake master but it didn't change anything. Thoughts on what it could be? The master float doesn't seem to be stuck. My car is an 1998 ER34 sedan GT. No hicas but has ABS Photos below 👇🏾
