haha at school kids these days.. 'rip it bro rip it upppp'. Funnily enough ive never had anyone try and 'go me' which i guess is a good thing!

I had a kid on his bike constantly egging me on to "rip it up"... I shook my head but he kept bugging me. So I decided to "pretend" to run him over... he shat himself and fell off his bike swearing his head off at me. Harsh but it was hilarious at the time :D

But I think it's the case with any import that looks/sounds modified... I get heaps of dirty looks by people in my neighborhood and even happy school kids pointing at my car get pushed along by their parents followed by a dagger stare :)

It only takes a few bad apples to ruin it for the rest of us I suppose...

hey Ben, how come you didn't come to the drift day?

I decided to save some money and buy a r32 GTR, personally I wouldnt buy a run of the mill skyline and I dont like r33 or r34 (besides I would never spend that kind of cash on a r34 GTR)

so I got a r32 GTR and shelved my plans to go 911 for a few years, atleast this way when I do get one I will have a GTR for the track aswel

I think the attention generally comes with the area you're driving and at what time of the night. I don't drive late at night and nobody has attempted to race me in about 6 months and I have never had trouble with police. Fingers crossed...

There are a lot of idiot drivers out there of all ages not just P platers. Not all P platers with skylines are hoons looking for trouble. Don't look down on us as though we don't deserve to drive a nice performance car, we bought the cars to enjoy just like everyone else. With that said, I'm now on my full licence...

hmmm...if you can afford a 911, why did you go for a 32 gtr...if it had to be a skyline for whatever reason, why not a 34GTR...

He said a 911 not 911turbo 4wd $350,000 .

Anyway he made a great choice in car.....GTR32 still turns heads and beats all 911's made in the early to mid 90's

thats why it got the name Godzilla

I had my 34 for 18 months, got pulled over once (but that was by Knox TMU) for beinf stationary in a side street, and only had the odd Leb in their VL/VN's wanna race.

Not sure why you get hassles... maybe it depends on the areas u drive.

Most, if not all drivers know the Skyline's have good strret cred, they just wanna rev you up to see how it goes.

Just don't end up like that Ferrari owner racing the Ford GT in Warburton the other day - Dead!

dont be suprised by copping a bit of shit from the public, most of them r jealous bogans in commo's

i drove past 3 schools on friday, I tell ya them kiddies get really hyped up

hahaha, the school kiddies. that's why you do it all, huh ?

to impress the school kids :D

i drive a riced up R33gtst. i dont get hassled.

lol, na it's not riced. it's plain and subtle.

but if i wanted to get hassled, i'd hang out in carparks at night where cops, heroes, and ricers hang.

but fortunately i dont get off on that shit.

i wonder why ur getting such a hard time.

and well done LTHLRB...you've pretty much told everyone that you do what they've just told u they hated...only you're NOT EVEN on your p's, and you "fry 2nd" with your mum in the car....good work.

So Dezz... are u saying that u never on any public road have "fryed 2nd" gear (which i assume means redline it)? Coz it would be alwfully hipocritical of u if u had.

Look, yes there are idiots out there in all types of cars, not just imports and commos. The best advice is when u drive, pretend that other drivers have no ability whatsoever and are unaware of all surroundings... that way u will stay safe.

I think that it is wrong however for ppl to "judge" or criticise others for breaking laws or doing things that they themselves have done.

I'll tell u now, any person who owns a skyline and has not redlined 2nd gear yet should sell it ASAP and get a car more suited to their driving style. I'm just being brutally honest here, dont take offence ne1

cheers

No, it means he was spinning second gear and fried the tyres while in second gear

maybe not everyones got something to proove :D

No, i have never fried my tyres in second gear to shut up someone who was trying to race me....

Exactly :nyaanyaa:

I've driven skylines (silver 33, yellow 34, and Golgo here and there) around metro Melbourne for a good 2.5years and 50-60,000kms and not once have I had a single problem with the cops, people giving me dirty looks or any "idiots" trying to show off in front of me. I'm not a granny about it either, I've had my share of speeding tickets in my younger (Ps) days.

I travel through areas like Greensborough, Ringwood, Epping, and down to Mulgrave quite regularly so I have to ask, what are you guys doing on the roads to provoke this reaction? Or if it's not you - list some areas where you're getting this a lot? I just don't understand how you guys get hassled so much!

ns2500, sometimes its not the person driving the cars that are provoking, when i had my skyline, just cruising home from a friends down dandenong road, and i would get the odd moron in a civic, or vl try n egg me on. Now, im 25 now, and got all my stupidity out of my system when i was younger, i tend to not speed, altho i admit i do on occasion :D

having had a vl turbo calais, an old monaro, an r33

i can tell you, peoples reactions are different for every car .. skyline, ppl cut me off, admired, eviled, tried to race etc, similar affects with the vl, only there was probally more ppl trying to race me, (which at the time unfortunatly i was very happy to go ahead and do it ... stupid stupid) and with me having to drive my old monaro around these days, i dont get anyone trying to race me, ok maybe the odd old school ford, but im just not interested. get looks still, they vary from dirty to envy, as its not quite.

some people are also more aware of surroundings and peoples reactions.

once u get into a skyline, expect all this crap to happen to you. But dont let that get to you, just enjoy the car

thats pretty much exactly what i was going to post.

i cop this ALOT from other skyline drivers with their riced up and stocker gtst's.. Just because mine looks like a stocker its self, doesnt mean they haveto prove a point to say "i beat lthlrb"... Peasents dont know whats going on when i scream past them frying 2nd :). That shuts them up good and propper. Also cop alot of death stares from other ladies driving next to me.. OK im 17 OK im on my ls OK my mums in the car with me.. BUT IM NOT A SPOILT BRAT WITH EVERYTHING I WANT.... Its called.. Earning it.

lol. that whole post contradicts itself.

i get the usual VL guys making sure they flutter when they pass me, to show me how much cooler than me they are....and the odd shitbox VN that wants me to race his performance car.....

lol. i love clapped out VN's with there monster tacho and shift lights in auto's that all think they drive bathurst winning cars. they are my amusement everytime im in shepp.

was that a smartass comment?

tharaka, smart ass comment?, never.

but if i wanted to get hassled, i'd hang out in carparks at night where cops, heroes, and ricers hang.

if your parked in a car park standing around your car talking to mates why would you get hassled.

its only when you do stand stills etc in said car park you will.

I've had my line for about 5 months but only on the road for about 2 lol. I don't find too much trouble from other performance car owners such as Supras/ WRXs / RX7s even the 180s or EVOs but mainly from the commies and the older fords...must be slow man syndrome.

funny enough I get a lot of tools in 318i BMWs from work wanting to drag...which is kidna funny.

Overall cos I own two jap imports a lot of my mates have chnaged their minds...I took one for a spin in ther R33 when it was only putting out 170 and he said it was awsome.

I find now I know my car is fast I see no need to prove it to the wanker in his mazda 6 with the young family in the back.

    • After using a protractor for an actually accurate assessment of what is required,  and by NOT using my uncalibrated eyeball I worked out I need a 25° silicone bend from the TB ro the MAF, but, my choice was either a 30° or a 23° (23° is a weird spec), so I grabbed the 23° one from Raceworks I also grabbed 1mtr of 3" straight from Just Jap, I needed 350mm, but they only had 300mm, or 1mtr lengths....meh Also ordered a 1/2" hose bulkhead fitting from fleabay, this has a smoothish mushroom looking head (they are designed for below the water line of boats) that will fit inside the bend, the hose bit and threaded bit looks to long, but nothing that a hacksaw cannot fix if required, the hose will then just get jamed on the threaded bit up to the retaining nut Fingers crossed and the unsightly amount of hose clamps will be reduced down to 4 once all the parts arrive
    • Oil change does not trigger code 21. Code 21 is for coilpacks primary side connection. You can try to clear the code with a battery disconnect, hold down the brake pedal to drain capacitors through the brake lights with the ignition on for 10-15 seconds before you reconnect the battery. I have seen R35 coil conversion permanently cause this code with no ill effects so it might be the resistance it wants to see isn't quite right on one or more coilpacks. Could be inside the ECU, could be the harness, could be a coil. You can test it all if you want or just ignore until the car actually starts misfiring.
    • I forgot you have a Nistune ECU. Use Nistune to do all the tests I mentioned instead of faffing with 30+ year old electrical connectors. You can read MAF volts off that too, there are reference values in the service manual to tell you roughly what it should be in different conditions.
    • No. I think it might be the AFM. Hence the use of the terms "swaptronics", which implies the use of swapping out electronics for the purpose of diagnosis. It's about the only way to prove that a small/niggling/whatever problem with an AFM or a CAS or similar is actually caused by that AFM/CAS/whatever. A known good item swapped in that still gives the same problem is likely to be caused somewhere else. They're all the same. Spraying AFMs with cleaner is an each way bet between cleaning it and f**king it.
    • Oh wow! This might actually work amazingly. Do you know the ratio of the diff? I was told the only thing you need to make sure of is if the front & rear diff ratios are the same. Ours is a 4.083 Thanks!
