But that would be useless to most people without pics :)

NS2500: We have excactly the same headunit in our car, I'm going to take half of it out again so I can spray paint the plastic surround black. The grey colour doesn't match with my dash.

Howdy, just though you might like to update the link, as I get a 404 - Error not found when trying to load it!

Also I have just bought an R33 and it did not come with a stereo, as the guy wanted an extra $2000 for it, so now I have put just a cheapy in to get buy until I can get a half decent one, but for some reason, the dash clock now stays on all the time? I have unplugged it so it does not drain the battery, but can someone tell me what I have done wrong?

Thanks,

Ska

Greg,

Looks AWESOME! I am going to take your lovely wiring guide now and try to see what wires are connected to what as there is definatly something wrong as I could not get my stereo to work off what I thought was acc power, so I just bunged it on constant power, which is alright, just have to remember to turn it off, but an interesting side affect was that my dash clock now stayes on, so i just unplugged it.

But now I can really see what is what, THANKS!!!

I am such a dumbass..... was in such a hurry to change CDs today I accidentally missed the slot and shoved it into the R33 - like really INTO the car.

*sigh*

quick question... anyone know how to retrieve it without having to drag out the whole deck??

Use the force???

I once found a Michael Jackson CD that had been lost in a car this way... Who knows what you might find behind there

is this the same for installing an R32 deck. mine doesn't sit properlyt and I found out it doesn't have the standard brackets. gettingh them from Just jap. bought a new sleeve from nissan. if I follow the R33 guide will it fit the same? I can take the dash apart myself easy enough, so is fitting the same

Fitting is straightforward, eg. screw the unit in where it fits! As to the wiring I'm not so sure. Does anyone know if the R32 wiring is the same? S1 and S2 R33 are the same.

Hi NS2500,

Thank you for your AeroPro links, they were most informative. My only question is this. I had as factory a tape and CD player, but it appeared that there were two wiring looms for the car.

I can only presume one is for the pwr, remote etc, and the other is for speakers etc. Given this, do you know where I can find the other loom (model no. etc,) to plug into the second factory adapter?

Thanks heaps for your help.

Has anyone installed the DEh-8500MP or DEH-850MP!!!!

I installed it yesterday but the outside bracket was too large to fit...does this mean i have to pull the headunit out further from the chasis so the frame can fit???

Thanks in advance

    • Yeah, plenty of air flow, there is a dedicated path that feeds the air in to the OEM intake tube behind the bumper As for a "tangible effect", maybe, but getting the pod/intake air out of the hot engine bay is worth it psychologically to me, even if it gives no performance difference, so the tangible effect in my Lizard brain saysss yessss  In the end, to me a tangible effect isn't always about performance, sometimes it a sound or a look, or even a...... feeling  Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga
    • yeah first and reverse is where you will find clutch release issues (whether hydraulic or mechanical) because the difference in revs required is the highest there; particularly changing down from 2nd to 1st when still moving. To be clearer though, it is possible that the clutch release bearing is the wrong height. This is less likely than a hydraulic issue but it is not unheard of when you are mixing and matching

    • Hi all, Restoring r33 series 1 rb25det. All the heater hoses were on their way out, have replaced them and put it all back together. After testing I noticed a small leak from behind the head on the actual metal water line to the turbo when cars warm. I tried running a longer hose over it but it kept leaking...   I am about to take the (stock) manifold off again😔 to change the water line does any one have any lines they recommend? I was looking at Aeroflow Turbo Oil & Water Line Set but not sure what everyone else recommends. Car is completely stock but want to upgrade turbo eventually. it looks like ill have to disconnect a lot just to replace these lines so if there's anything else recommended to do please let me know. Thank you in advance!
    • From memory, on the R33 GTSt at least, while everyone says "It's not adjustable", I found when I changed clutches in mine, it just needed a small adjustment on the rod length. But be very wary here, as you could end up trying to push the pushrod in the master too far, or blowing out the slave.   Most likely though, if the master/slave isn't bypassing internally or leaking out, then the throw out is the wrong height compared to the fingers on the clutch, so when it moves to disengage the clutch, it isn't 100% disengaged. You can check part of this out too by jacking the car up, having the engine running, put your foot on the clutch and try to engage 1st gear. If it goes in pretty easy (Compared to the ground) and/or the wheels start turning a fair bit and it takes a bit too much brake pedal to bring them back to a stop, this is likely the issue.  I'm not sure if you can adjust the height of the forks etc in these though, it's been that long since I've touched any RB gearbox.
