Well as everyone has said lucky your not hurt.

But im guessin you can't do or expect to much from your mate as by the looks of the damage you guys were fair flying, and guessing again you'd have given him permission to do so.....?

Nah we weren't really going quick hey, lost it around the turn about 60-70 k's, I said when we got in the car take it easy you crash it you own it.

This wasn't no mountain run fun thing, he says he thought it was a different turn which is why he went into a bit to quick.

PSI_GTSII "guessin you can't do or expect to much from your mate"

your kidding right? so if you jump in someones car and you crashed it you wouldn't expect to pay for the damage you caused?

well that's unfortunate. bloody beer.

i let tharaka/darK drive my car the other day. beforehand though i said "okay, we are now entering into a verbal contract" consideration etcetc. then he got the back out first turn hahaha :P

I feel your pain man.

same thing happened to me bout 1 1/2 years ago.. i had a 94 starlet gt (back then they were worth bout 15,000) and my mate drove it into a fence... i also had no insurance as i didnt think i would ever need it. Worse yet he bailed on me, ive never seen him since and havnt seen a cent for the car.

Hope everything works out for ya

okay since no one else has done it yet ....

That'll buff right out :)

no insurance as i didnt think i would ever need it

Whats up with this ... is it the new way of saying that I couldn't afford insurance and therefore the car?

What happens if you run into a Merc or a porsche or something??

the side damage was similar to yours, but we didn't have any frontal or engine damage (although both doors needed to be replaced, as well as the front and rear lights).

i think in your case it would be better to strip the parts, and then collect the difference from your friend as with the money it'll cost to repair your car, you could have bought another gtr already.

I dont think the car can be repaired anyway, the c pilar is dented and thats part of the chassis, meaning structurally it might never be engineerable again even if it was repaired.

your best bet is to part it out.

I know you might not want to hear this already, but what do you want for the wreck and if you dont want to sell the whole wreck to me (I am willing to strip it myself as I need some parts myself) what do you want for the engine, intake side of things (fuel rail, injectors, plenum) gearbox, engine harness and all the pipework (thats still intact) for the engine. (Dont need turbos, exhaust, FMIC etc) Can discuss via PM if you like.

    • I don't think the shuffle can damage the turbos. It only happens at low shaft speeds and loads. It's just annoying (to some people - others are tickled by the effect) and it quite possibly reduces spool performance a little bit.
    • Oh dear. The panel beating needs to be done before the filler work. Do you have a photo of the dent before you started? Hard enough to not flex and only hit the high spots?  What do you mean it was just temporary?
    • Can u check this way it works for power supply?
    • These coils draw 10amps that what i read online
    • I appreciate the detailed explanation, think I understand now. I spent the better part of last night reading what I could about shuffle and potential solutions. I had replaced the OEM twin turbo pipe with an alternate Y pipe that is separated further away from the turbo. The current one is from HKS and I had a previous pipe that was separated even further away, both have shuffle. I had heard that a divider can be welded in to the OEM pipe to remove turbulence, and figure that aftermarket pipes that are more separated would achieve the same thing. From what I read, most people with -10 turbos get shuffle due to their size, though it's a bit less common with -5s on a standard RB26. I think Nismoid mentioned somewhere it's because OEM recirculation piping is common in Australia with -5 cars. It seems that the recommendation tends to vary between a few options, which I've ordered in what I think is most feasible for me:  1. Retune the MAP or boost controller to try to eliminate shuffle 2. Install OEM recirculation piping 3. Something called a 'balance pipe' welded onto the exhaust manifolds. I don't know if kits for this are available, seems like pure fabrication work 4. simply go single turbo My current layout is as follows: Garrett 2860 -5s HKS Racing Suction intake MAF delete pipes HKS racing chamber intake piping hard intercooler piping,  ARC intercooler HKS SSQV BOV and pipe Haltech 2500 elite ECU and boost solenoid/controller HPI dump pipes OEM exhaust manifolds HKS VCAM step 1 and supporting head modifications Built 2.6 bottom end All OEM recirculation piping was removed, relevant areas sealed off I'll keep an eye out for any alternative solutions but can get started with this.  Only other question is, does shuffle harm the turbo (or anything else)? It seems like some people say your turbo shafts will explode because of the opposing forces after a while and others say they just live with it and adjust their pedal foot accordingly.
