Classic length on a skyline regardless of 4dr or 2dr is the same and i think the cefiros and laurels are quite similar also so thats positive.

Ive got both a skyline and cefiro driveshaft downstairs so will compare them and post up for everyones reference.

Cheers

25 box going in soon and am trying to get my head around this whole speedo drive deal..

Question I have is: what final drive ratios does the Navara 17T gear suit?

Question 2: anyone know how many teeth are on the worm drive in the gearbox?

Apparently. My mates auto-eleccy said bring it down and he'll fix it up for me. Now that I need to throw a 25 box in (current box has started making some not-very-nice input shaft bearing noises after boxing day burnouts) I figure I'll either try to solve it with a correct toothed speedo cog, or just do what everyone else has done and get the auto-eleccy to fix it.

Cya in an hour or two avrahan

Cheers, read that earlier in between work stuff but must have missed the bit at the top.. so 4.3 is 21T, 4.1 is 20T and 3.5 is 17T. Logic dictates that I would need 19T for 3.9s.. anyone know if a 19T cog is available?

Spoke to the parts guy at my local Nissan when I picked up my waterpump on the weekend.

Apparently you used to be able to get a whole Navara sender with a 19T cog, can no longer get the whole assembly though so he's ordered me a Navara housing and a separate 19T cog, will find out next week if the cog is the right length and cut the right way. Fingers crossed :D

What crown wheel should I run for the new rb30det?

Anyone know how much there worth?

Are you asking what diff ratio to run?

I run 3.9s and really like them, acceleration isn't as brutal as the 4.3s but it's much more usable and all round a lot nicer to drive.

If you change crown wheels, you need to change the pinion gear aswell, best way I found to do this is get an S13 diff with good pinion bearings and swap that into your 32 (only thing we kept was the 32 backing plate).

    • Not sure the US can import anything other than the C34 Stagea's, but if you can and you need to to tow, DO NOT under any circumstances get an M35 Stagea. If it is just as a family car and your country/state allows it, absolutely and definitely get an M35 (3.5L if possible as it is effectively a 350Z) over a C34.
    • Punch your VIN (nm35-xxxxxx) into Amayama.com You can see everything there quite easily.
    • Thanks for that, I'll check it all out. I can always do the brakes last anyway if its a problem.  The 16's are super cool, if they do fit I'll cruise around with them for a bit.
    • Well, that's kinda the point. The calipers might interfere with the inside of the barrels 16" rims are only about 14" inside the barrels, which is ~350mm, and 334mm rotors only leave about 8mm outboard for the caliper before you get to 350, And.... that;s not gunna be enough. If the rims have a larger ID than that, you might sneak it in. I'd be putting a measuring stick inside the wheel and eyeballing the extra required for the caliper outboard of the rotor before committing to bolting it all on.
    • OK, so again it has been a bit of a break but it was around researching what had been done since I didn't have access to Neil's records and not everything is obvious without pulling stuff apart. Happily the guy who assembled the engine had kept reasonable records, so we now know the final spec is: Bottom end: Standard block and crank Ross 86.5mm forgies, 9:1 compression Spool forged rods Standard main bolts Oil pump Spool billet gears in standard housing Aeroflow extended and baffled sump Head Freshly rebuilt standard head with new 80lb valve springs Mild porting/port match Head oil feed restrictor VCT disabled Tighe 805C reground cams (255 duration, 8.93 lift)  Adjustable cam gears on inlet/exhaust Standard head bolts, gasket not confirmed but assumed MLS External 555cc Nismo injectors Z32 AFM Bosch 023 Intank fuel pump Garret 2871 (factory housings and manifold) Hypertune FFP plenum with standard throttle   Time to book in a trip to Unigroup
