Sorry to hear and to say "If it is a rollover, it is a write off".

I'm quite suprised to see the roof held up so well with a rollover.

Keep the car and strip the parts or chop the roof and make it into the world's first R33 Skyline convertible.

Main thing is no one is injured and no property got damaged.

Good luck mate...

I was just reading thru the Just Car insurance booklet thing they send every year.

If you're insured and you're the passanger in the car that is being driven with your permission, the car is covered by insurance.

Next car you buy, dont do online quotes - call the place and get a quote over the phone.

Next car you buy, read the conditions for the insurance - you woulda been covered being in the car.

that pretty much took his last ray of sunshine out of today...

i was about to get it insured with just cars,......the 3,000+ they quoted me was alot for me so i had to save up, and i was $600 short.

It's a bit late now... but they probably could have helped you out with a payment plan, and you could have at least had a cover note in the meantime until you'd paid in full.

Im sorry your car is a write off but you really need to get insurance sorted before you start driving a sports car thats worth more than 2 K.

It's a bit of a stretch calling an NA 33 a "sports car".

Thankyou,

I have just bought insurance for my car after reading this thread. I just had third party as the car only cost 8g so I thought it was not worth insuring. but after reading this full comp will make me feel safer..

all the best with getting it all sorted out

Another crash due to in-experience  I dont think id ever get my missus driving my car in the wet without traction control. Even then id be worried as she hasnt handled a rwd car before.

Gas+corner+wet+liner = skids no two ways about it.

Bad luck mate - at least your not hurt

Its an expensive lesson, but one well worth knowing

When i sold my 180sx the kid that bought it had no insurance on it whatsoever. 2 weeks later he ran up the ass of a brand new merc - both cars were written off

Last i heard he rode a pushie to work

That'll be written off (statutory) - the roof A, B and C pillar inners will be bent...

lots of bucks to fix it right - looks like every external panel is shagged plus all inners will need replacing

sills may be bent too...

yeah oh well, i spose in a way its better i didnt waste any more money on it because it would have been 3000+ excess and even then i wouldnt have been able to collect it because of gf driving, anyway

here are some pics of the pain

the back quater panels are dented like all f**k, but the back/spoiler is perfect

Who told you the cars a "right off"

I know you don't have the money, but I would seriously look at the cost to repaire it.

it may not be as bad as you think

If there wasn't enough money for insurance, there certainly won't be enough money to repair it.

Almost every panel is dented, and the roof is squashed.

Add to that the cost of new mirror/s, light surround, a full re-spray & replacement glass, plus fixing whatever damage was done to the suspension etc, a decent set of new tyres, and probably at least 1 new wheel...

Plus all the other damage that can't be seen by looking at photos.

The roof looks like its sitting a few inches lower than it should be.

I agree with what Ronin says, going by the damage on the roof it doesn't look like it's safe to repair it, and if it was repaired it would never be the same again, and if it were to roll over again, any occupants would have very bad headaches (if they had heads left)

Glad to see you guys are alright, but that's really bad luck.

My GF has driven my car once, was under strict instructions to back off at any sign of tail-end twitching...which happens dead on 4000rpm in all gears in damp conditions, she reacted *fairly* well.

It's not a good idea to let someone who is unfamiliar with a RWD turbo car jump straight in (I had no choice due to alcamahol)

Hope everything turns out well.

Gawd I can't believe you guys haven't convinced your GF's to get rid of their crappy FWD's and get a decent car :P

I'M always really worried when my b/f drives my car because he doesn't drive as much as me and he's used to the heavier skyline anyway  hehe

i hope at least your gf is hot. that will be some consellation as you ride the bus together.

very sad story, but definately proves the value of comp insurance. perhaps letting her drive in the rain was not such a good idea in hindsight. if she is decent she will offer to pay for the damage she did to your car.

Also I know someone who wrecked their 32 recently after an accident, no insurance and he made back more than like 10k and he still had heaps left at that point. You have to have the patience and time to pull it apart bit by bit though.

    • There was a great one on Victoria Rd in Gladesville too back in the day. I can only assume GTSBoy is thinking of the mill up on the wollondilly, no restaurant there any more but they have restored the original steam engine on site and run it every few months, have an annual steampunk festival etc @The Bogan, you came to the wrong town for restaurants. we have a few reasonable asian and indian options but the Paragon is as good as it gets otherwise. That brewery is apparently just opened, been meaning to give it a go some time. The Highlands have plenty of fancy options but I suspect you are more a hearty eater than fancy eater
