Hey guys,

got my tax return so ive just gone and gotten a quote at Carline Mufflers. X-force Mild steel turbo back with hi flow cat, supplied and fitted will be $1,150.

I was hopeing it would be about the $1k mark.

Does this price sound reasonable?

Stainless steel was going to be like $1,850, way too much. And from what ive heard Mild steel, although it rusts quicker, is still good for 5+ years.

Id call some other places but Carline is nice and close to me and ive dealt with them before, nice people.

1150 for a MILD STEEL cat back? wat highflow cat is it? if its one of the batmbl metal cats.. it may be a fair price.. if its a xforce ceramic cat.. its not worth it

were abouts are you located.. someone may be able to recommend a better and cheaper place to get an exhaust done.

In in the blue mountains, carline is at emu plains.

Ive seen the mild steel version at Justjap for $800 yes, but once you add shipping and instalation costs, it would probably be close to $1,150 anyway.

As to what cat it is, im guessing the whole system is Xforce. Its on their website, www.xforce.com

the turbo back zorst for the R33 GTST

Just Jap in Sydney does the X-Force stainless turbo back system for $950, and the mild steel turbo back for $799.

http://www.justjap.com

I paid about 800-900 for mine just jap $699 + shippin I think was about $80 or something and $100 to be fitted.. Not to sure on what high flow cat it was though just talk to the guys at justjap...

$1150 turbo back is pretty resonable including a hi-flow cat IMO.

Could be $100-$150 cheaper, but meh. Depends how tight you are.

Make sure you get your old exhaust back off em for that price

Yeah look really Ill pay $1,150. Was just checking to make sure they arent like $300 or something... lol

Anyway I want to goto Carline, got a Cat-back done on my old car and they seem to do good work and are friendly, which is worth paying for IMO.

Im a little concerned about how loud its going to be. 3" with a Cannon muffler (6" body, 4.5" tip)

Being within legal limits would be nice...... But somehow I get the feeling it wont be. Oh well.

just get one from justjap or something then knock out the cat  SUPER high flowed!! (personal choice as this is illegal)

there all power robbing lil piece of crap!

i got mine done for $900 installed but im in perth (turbo back though)

tooooooooooo expensive!!! Should be a turbo back for that price.

Buy a second hand one from the trading post for about $700.

I must have typed something wrong...your the 2nd person to not see the 'turbo back' parts of what I have said.

It IS turbo back buddy :P

    • You Gregged a whole racetrack!?
    • Look for broken wire or bad connector at the motor. Might not be it, but is worth starting there, as it is easy.
    • Hi everyone, I’m having an issue with my R32 GT-R. Sometimes, when the car goes over a bump or experiences some vibration, the 4WD warning light comes on the dashboard. When I check the code from the control unit in the trunk, it shows Code 19 – ETS Motor. However, everything seems to be working fine — if I turn off the engine and restart the car, the light goes away and everything functions normally. Has anyone experienced this before? Where should I start troubleshooting this issue? Thanks in advance!
    • I'm back from the dyno - again! I went looking for someone who knew LS's and had a roller dyno, to see how it shaped up compared to everything else and confirm the powerband really is peaking where Mr Mamo says it should. TLDR: The dyno result I got this time definitely had the shape of how it feels on the road and finally 'makes sense'. Also we had a bit more time to play with timing on the dyno, it turns out the common practice in LS is to lower the timing around peak torque and restore it to max after. So given a car was on the dyno and mostly dialled in already, it was time for tweaking. Luis at APS is definitely knowledgable when it came to this and had overlays ready to go and was happy to share. If you map out your cylinder airmass you start seeing graphs that look a LOT like the engine's torque curve. The good thing also is if you map out your timing curve when you're avoiding knock... this curve very much looks like the inverse of the airmass curve. The result? Well it's another 10.7kw/14hp kw from where I drove it in at. Pretty much everywhere, too. As to how much this car actually makes in Hub Dyno numbers, American Dyno numbers, or Mainline dyno numbers, I say I don't know and it's gone up ~25kw since I started tinkering lol. It IS interesting how the shorter ratio gears I have aren't scaled right on this dyno - 6840RPM is 199KMH, not 175KMH. I have also seen other printouts here with cars with less mods at much higher "kmh" for their RPM due Commodores having 3.45's or longer (!) rear diff ratios maxing out 4th gear which is the 1:1 gear on the T56. Does this matter? No, not really. The real answer is go to the strip and see what it traps, but: I guess I should have gone last Sunday...
