Roy - do you really think the carrera cup guys hang on to their tyres for a year and then sell them?? They're lucky if they see more than 2 races due to the level of competition, so I don't think they are trying to save on tyres and use them till they're f(cked. Paul told me that usually they get a new set of tyres after each meeting, so alot of the tyres are in fair condition, not to the point where they are useless..

He even mentioned that some of the used sets have come off cars which had mechanical failure or accident damage and had only done about 20 or so laps, and new tyres are put on for the next event.

T04GTR - what excuses are you talking about?? and how many laps have the guys driving the civic and starlet done at EC?? Are you saying that we are shit drivers and should be doing better?? Not sure what you are trying to say but let us know coz its a bit unclear on what you're on about...

Anyway, this is not a dick swinging contest, we put in the effort and went to have some fun at a different track, and I believe was a huge success. Don't really care if anybody thinks we should have gone faster or slower because of the money we have spent on our cars, we had fun and the cars came back in 1 piece, that's all that matters...

N1GTR - yep, 2560R's on 19psi...

dezz - not taking anything seriously, just not sure on what some people are trying to say..

Next track day come down and bring your helmet... :)

Heheh I wasn't talking about you, I agree with everything you said in your previous post mate :P

And will do :sorcerer:

A gift of $100,000 from Gundula Holbrook, widow of the late Commander

Norman V Holbrook along with money raised by the locals enabled the Holbrook Shire

to move and display the Royal Australian Navy HMAS Otway in the park.

A real traffic stopper 400KM from the nearest seaport the submarine is about

90 metres from bow to stern.

To pass time during rest periods the men would sing songs and tell tales about their exploits, making up doggerel verse and rhymes. It was at a halt on a river creek just north of Gundagai the legend of the The Dog on the Tuckerbox was born, in about 1850.

A bush yarn told of the hardship of a Bullocky, bogged down in mud, having a great deal of trouble, generaly fed-up, with the last straw being when his dog sat in, not on, his tuckerbox, ruining his change of a decent evening meal!

The legend of The Dog on the Tuckerbox was eventually immortalised by Jack O'Hagen with his popular song that extolled the spirit of the early pioneers with their dogs, who endured hardship and peril to ensure Australia's future, which also put the town of Gundagai, nestling at the foot of Mount Parnassus in the Murrumbidgee Valley on the world map.

ha no one is saying anyone should have been going faster! Someone said something and the others felt the need to defend themselves

but bloody hell.. everyone needs to learn to stop dis-crediting each other. Both NSW and Vic did extremely well at both days! I was particulary surprised about the VIC times at EC, now, I'm no expert but they were QUICK! You guys all seemed to enjoy EC alot more aswell.

anyhow..... can't wait for the next one, i'll be sure to whip you all in my 'stock' Silvia Q (ps. I'm not joking!)

Hahahaha - some of this is hilarious. It's funny that sarcassim is hard to get across on forums.

Apparently many people here don't know about the long going joke - especially between a couple of us Vics and JP about the semi's V slicks thing. It's not serious - it's just shits and giggles.

We know why NSW guys runs slicks (cost) and why we run semi's (we can't run slicks down here without a cage) but I don't think you will find anyone gives a shite whether someone ran a 1.45 in a GTR or a 2.09 in an EVO. As long as you are out there is all that matters.

It's just like the Zed v GTR shits and giggles. It's just some fun peoples!

I mean if we compare dicks really we have to look down and hang our heads in shame and admit that the QLD's have the biggest in the appropriately named giant who has beaten all of us - and on semi-comps.

But then we could say he did that on race fuel and start another funny arguement.....

It slowed my speed down enough down the straight so my brakes didn't cook and did nothing noticable in the corners so the car handled as it alway did.

If you don't want it anymore send it this way Gareth...

Was wondering when Giant's time would come up....and it was damp when he whaled out that time right?

Qld owns all.

I'm comin' home and with Lakeside opening up next year a visit to Qld for all is a definite must with 3 tracks to try out.

I was especially disappointed to miss out as there can only ever be one first time event like this but glad to see everyone had a good time except the usual Rexie owner kissing some sort of barrier.

Both NSW and Vic did extremely well at both days!

and qld... hehehe

bunta runs semi's

Oh hell yes! That's great!

Ok ok ok ..Your bigger then me so im not about to argue.

...anyway, fark em, the black round things that dont really do anything all that interesting other then cost money and kill the environment. Not worth me getting a broken nose over

For the record, i think they sell them when they are no longer any use to them...so they have gone off to the point where they dont even get any usefel data to go testing on them. That probably means they are a tenth or two per km off their norm, which can equate to 0.5-1.0second per lap. How that matches up to new semis i have no idea, i have just always noted that guys on slicks are usually slower then guys on semis...perhaps not the case anymore. It has just been an obsevation of mine as the technical aspect of what makes cars go quick is what i find interesting. Proves the golden rule though, if you want to go quick then its all about the tyres.

Me...lol, no more semis for me, road rubber sliding everywhere and having a ball. It was fun seeing how quick the car could go with better rubber...but wont be buying another set for a long while.

...and i will repeat what i said in an earlier post...you guys went damn quick fist time out. Especially since the track wasnt kind to tyres in the heat. You only have to look at the times that NSW guys have been putting out over the years to see that you are light years ahead of them. Anway, i am having a blast doing my 1:56s at the Creek. Anyone want to call me a shit driver...thats fine, im tough, i can take it. Just buy me a beer so i dont have drown my sorrows out of my own pocket :)

And Bunta's GTST was super cool. I wish my old one looked as goo as that.

:) I am really feeling the love for the car in here!

All of you Vic guys had awesome cars! It was really good to see

PS I hate James for making me want an evo more

PS I hate James for making me want an evo more

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
    • Here's an idea, answer the questions I asked you as they are trying to work out WHY the LSD will be binding up in a straight line.
    • You haven't driven many modern cars then have you? Most of them have sfa steering feel with their stupid electric bullshit steering systems.
