Yea all i can say is im glad my car is off the road at the moment getting a few things done to it because i happen to live right around the corner from noble maccas.. Before anyone asks no i wasn't there on Friday...

And i can tell you the police presence in my area is a lot greater than what it ever use to be... i see a TMU car a lot and if i go anywhere near maccas i saw a cop or a cop motor bike in the area...

But i totally agree with adz in saying if you have an sau sticker on your car the police will take notice of this and pull you over and paint a picture of the club being "hoons" so to speak due to you being there!!!!

Also think one of the worst things which is also going to add to the problem is the media referring to the whole event as "hoons" again if you have a nice car and don't abuse it on the street everyone will just think bet he was there on Friday night....

I also am not convinced that come Friday this will not happen again along possibly with things getting worse. Which is disappointing.

I'm in agreement with Mav I think things will probably escalate again possibly even further. With only 6 arrests and the courts being so leanient I personally don't see anything stopping further repeats of last Friday. In relation to members Hooning or being associated with hoons with SAU stickers on their car it's not a club issue but don't be surprised if one day one of our convoys to club day get pulled over and everyone's car get's through going over EPA, NOU etc because the club wrongfully gets reputation of hoons.

Do Officers look after one another in the force. I have heard of stories in the UK with the equivilant TMU guys looking after one another on the motorways if caught speeding (could just be hear say though). Just thinking if there was a police presence in a convoy to an organised off street event such as Heathcote, would that have any bearing? >_<

BTW - Anyone hear the clowns on Nova this morning between 7-7.30am with their heroics!

Yeah I heard the d|ckhead and his girlfriend on Nova this morning, some guy with a new R33 scaring his girlfriend so much she didn't want to get into the car. Saying how fully hectic the drags etc are.....hero

Something i have been thinking about for a while...which by the way will never work...but

Is for CAMS affiliated clubs to be able to give members lic plates that are a unique colour or have distinct prefixes.

My thinking is if you are a member of a car club, you have participated in off road driving events, be it motorkhana, drag, drift, track work, defensive driving etc and you have a good driving record then you are eligible for one of these lic plates.

My thinking is i would hope this would help police differentiate between the car enthusiast who uses their car responsibly and those that drive like tools in whatever car is available to them.

I would gladly pay extra every year ontop of rego if it was a means of distinguishing myself from the tools who may be driving a similar car. If i do something i shouldnt be then i turn in the plate.

Another idea was if your car runs say a filter and intercooler then you pay a Performance Tax, with certain mods attracting additional registration costs. Of course they must still be safe, but if you chose to change the car from std for club motorsport purposes or personal choice, then you are able to pay a penalty for driving a non std car and then be free of being dragged over the coals shoudl you be pulled over. Repeat the mods must be safe...but i hope you get the idea

If not a licence plate then a drivers licence designation, like being an organ donor something that can be seen on your licence that you've a CAMS licence / etc.

At least that way if you get pulled over (and it wouldn't be for anything irresponsbile no doubt) you'll have some form of positive reputation rather than being labelled just another hoon.

roy u do have a good idea there

perhaps a small sticker on the rear number plate or something that only cops would notice. also would have 2 have a driving course done affiliated with them and a clean record i guess

or a line on ur licence that says "i have a gun!"

its a good idea, but all you need is one person with the special plate doing something stupid, then everyone looses credability

No he loses the plate.

But seriously, the criteria need only be a clean driving record for 2 years with over 5 years since a serious driving offence, such as 30+ over the limit. To that you have done a number of driving courses and your log book shows you have done 3 events in the last calender year.

If you meet that criteria you will not be doing anything stupid on the road. Odds are you are over 26 and you dont do stupid things on the road. But again if you do then you lose the plate and have to wait 5 years until you are again eligible.

Damn. I'm kinda glad to be leaving the country.

I want to beleive that this wont affect all import owners, but I'm fairly sure it will.

Still, I wonder how many of these cars were imports, and how many were hotted up falcadores?

This sucks im from the West and was meant to be @ my missus' house that night and she lives down that way, I told her today im not coming to see her till this sh!t dies down, she cracked it with me, am i being a bit over worried about it?

I get anxious everytime I have to go and pick her up from the stories ive heard of the East >_<

Sidenote: Saw an Unmarked cop car the other day and it looked like the officer was in casual attire, someone tell me this aint true?

LOL Wish i was still interested in Video Games more than cars, then id be driving something that doesnt ingest fear everytime i drive it :)

      You know what, I am enjoying your updates, but I have to say it is pretty poor form to walk into a shop that is paying for space and stock on the floor, try all their seats to work out what you are happy with, then buy somewhere else. If everyone did that the shop will be out of business with no opportunity for anyone to try a seat before buying. 👎

      Yeah mate that’s the plan, I just want something I can have fun in and work on during weekends.  There’s really only 1 road fit to drive the car on and luckily is been redone recently.  I do want to tune it next year sometime, no dynos here so I’m looking at an ECU that can be remote tuned.

      Initially I thought having a pair of Recaro seats would be a big bonus, it turns out these do get a little uncomfortable on long journeys (my fault, not the seat). I had a look through the GSM Performance website at reclining seats and booked an appointment to visit their show room. I got the Recaro Sportster CS for the R34 from here, was very happy with the service received so of course a re-visit was in order. Unfortunately the two Corbeau seats I had chosen aren't on display but they had 4 other options available. Two seats dug into my back, one dug into my legs and the other was perfect. I also found out that Recaro seats use a larger bolt pattern so some adaption was required. Luckily GSM offer some universal adaptors that should solve this problem. I searched the interwebs for price comparisons and Corbeau themselves were the cheapest at £300 cheaper (for the pair). I asked GSM if they could price match, unfortunately they couldn't. I later received an email saying Corbeau would honour them the same discount, but the purchase was already made. I did however order the brackets from GSM, both arrived on the same day. I started with the passenger side seat, knowing this was going to be a little trial and error. There are 3 mounting holes at the front and 2 at the rear on these JURAN Racing seat rails.  With the adaptor brackets mounted, the allen cap bolts started to push into the seat, NOT GOOD!  The rear mounting holes lined up but there were issues at the front. The holes were 1/2 hole out, so the brackets got a tickle with the drill to modify the holes. The supplied bolts weren't going to be long enough and a spacer was needed to stop the adaptor bars from bending. A local fasteners company supplied be with some nylon spacers and longer bolts (M8x30, although these will be replaced with 35mm long shortly) A before and after I pre-drilled the front bracket before making a start on the driver's seat to save some time. And in no time at all that was in the car too. The all black seats have transformed the interior and these are MUCH more comfortable. The only downside with the new Corbeau seats is I sit a little higher, but I'll happily accept that over discomfort. The Youtube video can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPyttKPktXA
