Getting a GTR is one thing, it's another to afford the upkeep.

Having AWD is a great bonus. For under 21 consider a GTS-4 instead of a GTR for lower upkeep and more managebale power.

But hey, whatever works.

Very true if the young driver puts in every cent spent on the car he will respect it more, but in the end it all comes down to driver attitude and thats it, theres nothing really more to it.

But it aint that bad ive been pulled over once in a whole year of driving, just for random breatho n licence check - that was it.

Behave!

They're RWD, until there's slip, and then power starts feeding to the front, right?

Yep exactly, and they can bite hard because of this.

I was 21 when I bought my GTR. I didn't have an accident or kill anyone.

I would recommend that if the person had no prior track, kart, rally experience then sure buy the car, becasue it's your decision and your money, but just take it easy and treat it with respect. Learn to drive it off the road not in traffic, if you feel the need to punt it hard.

End of the day it's his decision. I say go for it. I feel I was mature enuf at 21 to drive the GTR. But I know plenty of ppl that aren't.

And if it all goes pear-shaped - could be my life (as well, or instead). I reiterate : You can NEVER have too much driver training.

pear shaped? no one wants things to go pear shaped but hey things happen and its good your making a point about it, although 1 person on this forum who probably is a sensible driver isn't going to save you, me, or anyone else from the amount of f**kheads that are out on the road now.

Laws are there to try and prevent younger drivers from owning high powered vehicles, i've still seen p plater corvette drivers, p plater gtr drivers and p plater xr8 drivers, i'm sure i couldn't drive my skyline when i was a p plater but i did..

Can't a p plater in a mitsubishi magna hit 180-200kmp/h? How you gona stop someone? Their 1st f**k up might be their last...

But hey what can you do?

well after reading all the post ive come to the conclution, that is the same as most of you. if he (the driver) is mature and responserble fine let him get a GTR.

driver traning should be consided.

well ill just keep saveing now for my GTR :D

hmm it all depends how he was driving his r31??

As for me i was going to buy a r33 for my first car.... after given it much more thought i bought a r31 silhoutte...

Then came the r33

so preety much if he is a good driver and knows how to drive, i see no problems him driving that.....

hell if you are going 160km/h in a gtr or a ford focus... its the same thing, only difference is in a gtr you will get there really fast

I have known a few well skilled drivers who have terrible street ethics.

Most of which have had serious accidents and loss of licenses.

So if he has never lost his license for speeding..running reds...or drink driving and still has most of his points.

YES BUY THE GTR....

If he likes to speed...hand-brake stop, fast launches and street drag....and thinks he is never going to get hurt.

NO...you are going to kill some-one you dumb f**k.......and I really don't care for his life but the ones he will hurt.

So I think I made myself quite clear.

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
