A few pics from today ;)

Does anyone know what the module is i have taken a close up of? It is located in the boot in the opposite postion of the factory jack/tools location.

The is the unit that controlls the voltage to the fuel pump in a gtst. Basicly it stops the pump from priming after a few seconds if the motor is not started once the ingnition is turned.

hey dane back to your setup....have you allowed for the remote triggering of the kill switch? I would like to put ours there somewhere as well but am worried about the cable routing to the outside. Needs to be near the base of the windscreen drivers side according to CAMS

We were discussing it before we decided on mounting it where it is, as it was originally going to go in centre console in front of the shifter but we were forced to move it somewhere else due to gearbox position. I think it should still be doable running it down the transmission tunnel, but we'll find out soon enough... hopefully it'll be fine!

Duncan, have you seen the latest batch of electronic kills? Was reading about them on the weekend and they are obviosuly more expensive but far easier to install and far more reliable then the cable type. They are also now cheaper then they used to be

it can be done with cables mounted next to the window on the drivers side, you will need a long drill bit but it takes it directly into the main cabin under the dash. I can send pic of my old slugger when i get back to dubai if you like. I then just ran the cable to the battery box located where the pasneger seat used to be so i can turn the isolator with my hand rather than two cables. Also works for the fire system too.

yeah chris that's where we've always put ours in the past, its like nissan wanted us to put them there lol. But it kind of restricts you in where you can put the kill switch.

in the production car the kill switch activates a NO relay right next to the battery, the standard fuseable link plugs into it. It works fine but if you forget to kill the switch the relay drains the battery.

so in the new car I would like to put the kill switch on the tunnel and cut the actual main power feed - but I'm still worried about the cable pull.

Roy - I've never had any trouble with the mechanical switch an electrical one sounds worse not better to me. I have seen people have the switch key wear out, I should carry a spare one around like Neil does.

Is it all c/f or is it fibreglass with a c/f layer?

it weighs 3.5kg and is fiberglass with carbon fiber top layer

pretty sure bolt in cages are still legal, aslong as you get a cams approved one. From what i've read, the japanise cages run smaller diamiter piping, but run thicker walls.

Yep, I have a CAMS approved bolt in. It's just the jap cages that won't pass

in particular the bends around the dash take all the strength out of the front arms of the jap cages. and like Ben said the diameter on them is too small for cams rules too.

no wonder they are cheap to buy second hand....you can be knocked back by event scruitineers for a non-complying cage, even if no cage is required for that event.

    • Yeah and hence my ghetto way of slamming the brakes, get the ABS to cycle, rebleed seems to be a sensible workaround.
    • Hey! Happy to help. Nothing inherently wrong with the adapter, it's more so with Brett Collins himself. He gave me a lot of incorrect information when I was in contact with him and was extremely rude when I challenged him. He stated I could not use any aftermarket twin plate clutches except for his own, not to use the dush shield, bla bla bla and it was all BS.  Collins stated to cut roughly 14mm's off the housing, I took off 15mm to make room for the dust shield. I would confirm with whatever adapter manufacturer you're using. 
    • There's plenty of OEM steering arms that are bolted on. Not in the same fashion/orientation as that one, to be sure, but still. Examples of what I'm thinking of would use holes like the ones that have the downward facing studs on the GTR uprights (down the bottom end, under the driveshaft opening, near the lower balljoint) and bolt a steering arm on using only 2 bolts that would be somewhat similarly in shear as these you're complainig about. I reckon old Holdens did that, and I've never seen a broken one of those.
    • Let's be honest, most of the people designing parts like the above, aren't engineers. Sometimes they come from disciplines that gives them more qualitative feel for design than quantitive, however, plenty of them have just picked up a license to Fusion and started making things. And that's the honest part about the majority of these guys making parts like that, they don't have huge R&D teams and heaps of time or experience working out the numbers on it. Shit, most smaller teams that do have real engineers still roll with "yeah, it should be okay, and does the job, let's make them and just see"...   The smaller guys like KiwiCNC, aren't the likes of Bosch etc with proper engineering procedures, and oversights, and sign off. As such, it's why they can produce a product to market a lot quicker, but it always comes back to, question it all.   I'm still not a fan of that bolt on piece. Why not just machine it all in one go? With the right design it's possible. The only reason I can see is if they want different heights/length for the tie rod to bolt to. And if they have the cncs themselves,they can easily offer that exact feature, and just machine it all in one go.
