trez
nice GTST. I have to say that navigators foot rest is a work of art! can I ask who made that or where did you get it from? it's almost too good to rest a shoe on....almost. thanks for the comments guys. I got the foot rest off good old ebay, they are to suite escorts and just had to cut the bottom part to suite the floor pan where the indent for the cat is. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Rally-Race-Car-Co-D...=item2c5209ea6d Edited June 30, 2010 by trezy85 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/177171-show-me-your-racing-machines/page/127/#findComment-5320582 Share on other sites

screamin'
My Rally Car.Its the 2nd car ive built for the Amsag southern cross rally series. Its a 1993 S13 Silvia with SR20DET. Like the Silvia, but boy some of those roads are straight! Noticed in the photo's you are running A symetrical 4WD tyres on the front. I found the best improvement on my turn in was going to a narrower 185 steering tyre, that is a different pattern. Works very well in the thick graval also. How do you find the turbo boost on the gravel. There are a couple of guys out here running various RWD turbo's and they really struggle in the twisties, I seem to have it all over them. Had a minor mishap the other week too.... 140km/h backwards. sav man
do you run full pace notes? or just a roadbook? You pull up ok after the hit, looked pretty big. screamin'
Just a roadbook on that sprint. I knew the corner was there, just had brain fade playing with the jammed wipers. Got a bit of whiplash and other than the body work, a bent lower suspension arm. Love how strong these cars are! Yeh they were, it was definitly a different event to what im used to. Yeh for that event only they were just second hand tires i got from a mate, i now run 195 BF Goodrich all round and am very happy with them. Yes Turbo boost can be very explosive since it makes peak torque at around 4500rpm but with the external gate fitted now so that boost is consistent i am finding it not too hard to control you just have to stop yourself from planting the right foot too hard which is quite hard when your previous car is a 1.5litre Datsun lol The car is still very new to me but it is already showing some very impressive stage times, at the moment we are fitting Murray coote suspension all round i will post pics when they arrive which should be in the next 2 weeks, it was an expensive upgrade but should definitely be worth it. Glad to hear the car didnt have too much damage after the hit, was it too much rear brake bias that contributed too that spin? or was it the fact you were too wide and on the loose stuff? it seemed to snap soo quickly Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/177171-show-me-your-racing-machines/page/127/#findComment-5349182 Share on other sites
Noddy
We have been playing with bump steer adj over the last little while. Typical me, "can't be that hard to make". MkI was pretty basic and worked well...... until there was a big excursion at speed hitting the back of a ripple strip at an odd angle. Result below. So then the thinking was we would try a commercially available option. Just Jap sent these ones that were cool but way to short. My brain did its usual trick and put me infront of the lathe again, And this is what came out after 2 0r 3 nights of toil and frustration. 9Mine left, JJ right) And fitted in the pig. I'm slightly ashamed to admit, Its a Toyota. With all Nissan underpinnings!!!! It's the same with the Skyline over here, very pleased with the results, consistantly in the top 3 in class and usually top rear wheel drive. Bloody FWD cars are so quick (dull) these days. The loose was mainly brain fade, but we also have this stuff called mud over here and the car just aquaplaned on it. The first run there was more grip because the mud haddn't come through yet. The corner caught out about half a dozen cars that day. Couldnt agree more about the dull comment haha, but we dont seem to have many FWD guys running in the events i do anyway. Yeh mud makes any corner exciting when its bad like that, my last event was very similar i was a passenger most of the time thank goodness for some ruts that saved me several times from an off. The 4wd guys killed us on that event unfortunately. I have some in car of that but still have not put it up onto youtube as the files are too big. You get the idea off how bad it was from the photos though lol. phunky_monkey
Who is doing it this time? Machining was done by Blackwell race engines, and a friend of mine and an ex-supercar engine builder are putting it back together for me. What failed on the previous motor? The engine builder It was leaking water into the oil, which was basically due to not having the head and block decked together after it was pulled apart to fix a minor oil leak. Long story short is that the engine was in and out constantly for a year, the warranty work they were doing on it was taking forever and I lost confidence in them so I cut my losses and took it to someone who I knew would have some diligence and take some pride in their work. Those bearings were in the car for a dyno session and half a lap of Sandown... Duncan
got mine back on the track this weekend, the guys at UAS did a great job. 150+ laps flat out without any temp problems. Basically the only time we stopped was to refuel it. next up is a 1 hour race at wakefield in 5 weeks Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/177171-show-me-your-racing-machines/page/127/#findComment-5354901 Share on other sites
