Hi Frank, can you please explain a little more clearly about the pin outs from the TV Control unit

The plug looks like this : . . : (each dot represents the pin)

Starting from the left, can you please advise what is a ground, video in, left audio in, right audio in etc. Thank you!

1st Top Pin -

1st Bottom Pin -

2nd Bottom Pin -

3rd Bottom Pin -

4th Top Pin -

4th Bottom Pin -

JK

1st Top Pin - audio Right (core)

1st Bottom Pin - audio Lefr (core)

2nd Bottom Pin - Ground

3rd Bottom Pin - Video in (core)

4th Top Pin - Shield

4th Bottom Pin - Named: VTR- Has no idea what it is, Unused

also DO NOT UNPLUG THE YELLOW PLUG! It is the airbag for the passenger side. you will set a light (fault code) if you do and turn the IGN on!

Thanks Chris.

I almost unplug it .

Luck I am not.

Hey Frank,

Would you consider doing another car? Mine is the 05, non BOSE but should be similar. I'm in Syd as well.

PM me if you like on how long it will take and your price.

I can take everything apart and help you as well, but am pretty hopeless with the rest of it.

Cheers

Bobby

Frank,

the SHIELD pin - where does this connect to?

Also do you run ground to all 3 RCA grounds or to EARTH ground?

Thanks

Jai

Hi jai:

For the compsite, they used shield coaxial cable, so the core is the core of cable, shield is the shield.

We suppose to used this kind of cable, but it is too big and will be very difficult to hide somewhere, instead I choose the flat shield cables.

In the flat shield cables, each one has a core and a shield, so we can just joint 3 shields into one.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

BTW: Chris: can I ask, Do we have to go the ground?

Thanks for supporting, Sorry I am not a perfossional people in this business, it cost me about 5 hourse to make them done. But I believe next one I can finished in 2 hours, If skilled people like chris do the same job with right tools, I bet 1 hour is enough.

This the first time to me either, trust me, you can do that your self either.

or move the standard DVD drive behind the dash (as its useless anyway) and put a factory-looking DVD+TV unit into the stock DVD location

some aftermerket DVD units come with a remote and IR sensor that plugs into the back of the unit and can be mounted anywhere on the dash, that way you can navigate the DVD drive while the upper glovebox is closed

once I'm done 30 min or less with instructions will be the norm.

mine will plug straight in and have a choice of 3.5 mm plug or rca plugs depending on application.

give me a bit I'm waiting on an answer (and waz is waiting on his lead  )

...and waz is waiting on his lead

you know its funny i initially didn't even want the reversing camera.. given i thought it looked like a pimple on a model's face

but now that its not useable, i can't imagine living without it!

this might even be a good opportunity for others without a reversing camera to hook up somethign aftermarket given we now know how it is hooked up

Yep, the most I spend on make the connectors and RCA scokets.

Damm, everything is tiny.

    • The wiring diagram for the R33 RB25 is freely available, and is essentially the same same as most other RBs (just with differences as to which pin # does which job). To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
    • Yep...so unless someone posts up the answer you will need to probe from the ECU connector to the dash plug with a multi meter in continuity mode to trace the wires.  Note the ECU has multiple - and + (and across different key settings - Battery, IGN and Start) and most likely the power is fed from the connector(s) that is normally near the left hand headlight.
    • Thanks Duncan, I am actually just trying to get the Rb turning and running with the RB25DET S2 original loom itself  I am just trying to get it going outside the body and not thinking about the S15 or trying to match anything to the S15 loom at all I am only trying to see if anyone has done this and what pin they found to be the ignition trigger and ECU+/- on the dash connector, that's about it. Thanks
    • Hi Guys, Does anyone know any aftermarket part numbers for a starter motor to suit the VQ25DET? I can find lots of alternative part number for the VQ35DE, which I assume would fit, but there is a lot of conflicting information out there. Thanks..
    • I don't understand how this hasn't boiled down to - Upgrade the turbo when you have everything required. ECU, injectors, fuel pump, turbo, etc. Do it all at once.  If you don't have everything required, just enjoy the car as it is and keep saving up your pennies.
