Heater box positioning. Placing an extremely expensive, non serviceable item prone to leakage where it generally is impossible to access without removing effectively half the interior, and is guaranteed to at some point leak and spark off rust issues in the floor pan, is pretty stupid really.

Everything on the intake side of the HR31 RB20DET; it is near impossible to access anything on that side with the gearbox in, in fact most things would be easier with the engine out. That doesn't just go for the complex network of sensors and vacuum actuators, but also for things like the oil filter. I believe its mostly due to the short deck height and extreme width of the head, which puts the bulky intake very close to the strut tower. RB25s and RB30s in the same engine bay are nowhere near as bad.

alot of cars i get into with manual window winders, i find the winders are facing up when the window is right down, and sticks into the side of my knee. frustrating when just trying to cruise with the window down, i either have to put the window up a lil and have it sticking into the underside of my arm, or leave it down and have the winder in the side of my knee

I just realised this morning that the 32's handbrake position is shit. You can't have your car in reverse and push the handbrake button down easily. Just say you are on a hill and need to reverse out. The handbrake is a bit close to the gearstick.

+1 For That in my 33....the long ass gear leaver in my car touches the handbrake in reverse

My R31 looks like a fridge on wheels.

In my experience, fridges often have beer in them. I don't see the problem?

Re R33 antennas, mine went crazy one day and went all the way up on half. i turned it to full, and nothing happened. turned it back to half and it went all the way in. turned the radio off and then back on again and it stayed in. turned it to full and it went all the way up.

a day later it mysteriously fixed itself and went back to normal :laughing-smiley-014:

R33 has very, very few things that bother me. They are a well sorted car.

The R33 cup holder isn't movement proof, its got that thing for holding cans but no support at the front. Even under gentle braking I've had it fall out.

Boot space is shocking in the 33 for a car it's size, it just fits 2 sets of golf clubs... just. Victim of having the fuel tank between the rear seat and boot.

People quickly learn that anything not bolted to something else in my car, moves. I don't leave drinks in the console for the same reason, besides which it's not deep enough and it gets in the way of changing gears. I suppose that's a minor annoyance but it doesn't bother me *shrug*

Boot space is pretty bad but I think it is designed for the jap businessman who only needs to carry golf clubs.

f**king jinxed myself, now it has shit itself good and proper

Electronic throttles suck balls.

Oh doesn't it. My driving style dictates that to slow my car down while going down a hill that I push in the clutch, hit the accelerator for a moment, then shove it into a lower gear. Works just fine with a cable driven throttle. Electronic ones don't quite have the response I like... and I don't enjoy compression lock up in a front wheel drive Volkswaggen Caddie...

The beverage holder in the R33 seems pretty useless, mainly because I'm always changing gears. Its usually my mobile holder, and it does that pretty dismally too lol

Reverse in Euro cars, I want it under 5th or next to 6th, not next to 1st.

Wiper/Indicators in Euro cars, wrong way around

Anything with over 120kWs and front wheel drive... Magna, 380, Aurion (although, its ment to be pretty good lol), Camry, ect. Torque/under steer... Plus, I want a tail shaft damn it!

No dimmer for the dash illumination in my R33. Sure, not needed in the city, but when I go bush and there is wildlife near the road, I want full concentration on the road :D

The fuel consumption thing in BMWs. OMG!! Distracting :D Wants an on/off button.

Over use of plastic in engine bays.

Plastic throttle bodies designed for climates around Britan and such. Got 3000rpm idle?

Overly powerful power steering. I like to feel some effort.

BG model Mazda 323s - the A pillar plastic trim always goes brittle and falls off, and you cant get them second hand because they break as soon as you try and take them off :yucky:

Surprisingly, +1

definently +1! haha ive owned 2 BGs, the first one was mint and had them (but wrote the car off...) but my current ones are totally broken!

oh and the oil filter in BGs is also a real bitch.. not sure how it compares to rb26s tho..

apex seals in rotarys? i really wish all cars were rotaries (cause they just keeep spinning) but those bloody apex seals....

    • You very likely need to get it on a dyno and tune it. My assumption is, you've got an RB25DET tune in it, which has a different manifold, different injectors, and different cams as a minimum. What O2 sensor are you running?   When you say it runs extremely rich from idle all the way to redline, is this just free revving it you see that?
    • I seem to the be only person that is using a Haltech 2500 on an NA motor, I've installed a Bosch DBW throttle body to the OEM intake manifold and am having problems maintaining AFR even with the wideband o2.  It will run extremely rich at idle and up to redline, but under load it will go extremely lean in the 20s and i'm essentially having to rev it over 4k and feather the clutch to get it up to speed.  I've read a few other threads of about the butterfly, it seems removing the vacuum to it is supposed to have it remain open, i've noticed no difference under 4k with the vacuum line to it plugged.  I'm hoping someone here has had luck using the NA manifold with Haltech, and if they happen to have a tune for it.
    • I don't know any details, but I really wouldn't be surprised if they do it as a LHD only version, at least initially.
    • Thanks for the replies everyone. Definitely a coolant push. Oil catch can is empty and always has been. As the engine is out now I'll be having a good look over things. I do have some detonation on the piston tops from a trigger issue back about 5 years ago. I felt it and shut off then bought a new ecu and changed the trigger. Never been an issue since. It never hurt the power, its made almost 80hp more since that incident but I will pull the bearing caps to take a look. If the bearings are damaged I will do a bottom end refresh. Head is being re conditioned at the moment and the block will be cleaned and checked to ensure it's flat. I'll go with a kameari gasket and see how it ends up. The other thing I'm not super keen on is the cylinder colours. I suspect this is from the inlet manifold. The plan will be to put it back together, retune and then stick a plazmaman billet inlet on it and retune. I'm happy with the power, if it makes a little more, then great, but I would rather just make everything more efficient at this stage.
    • Maybe they'll look to do a bunch of presales to help inject some cash fast for their financial issues...
