that means you have seen my name pop up a few times :cool:

if you wish to fix the TV/NAV/Radio issue - best to find someone down there that has done a few.

speak to stylyn car audio (adam) in boronia. he's done a few of these cars now.

(He will probably fly me down to do the car)

they are NOT the car to hand to an installer that is not familiar with them. one mistake and you can do some SERIOUS damage.

alarms - steer clear of the viper ones unless you want wank factor. look at Oz std's alarms such as mongoose or autowatch.

hey mike,

glad you like it. did you work out the JVC deck?

yeh, the USB option works well. plays movies and mp3s perfect.

on the down side the OSD is a bit anoying as it only appears when there is a disc or usb device attached. but i think it was worth the extra bux.

Hi Guys

I have been a fan of the V35 for a fair while but they were just too expensive for me. Well I just sold my beloved 300ZX and am now looking for a 350GT Premium 6sp with sunroof. Need to save a little more but look forward to learning more about this great car.

Cheers

Geoff

Hi Guys, all the little extras look nice and go fast bits are great on the 35. But for f--- sake its a SKYLINE not an Infinity- thats something the egotistical yanks want to own .Stay true to its origins.

Die Hard Skyline fan-owned-R30, R33GTST, V35. Not to mention C119 (240K'). They are unique and should not have their name changed by anyone.

Hi Guys,

Just got gifted V35, pearl white 2003 model semi auto from my relos, great drive I have to say (Upgraded from a Camry hah!)

Anyway I've been a bit paranoid lately cause I'm still on my P's (Acquired license Nov 07), I'm over 21 and living in Melb.

So I guess my question is, are V35's P-Plate legal in Victoria?

All my friends say it is because its not turbo and the vicroads site states:

From 1 July 2007, new restrictions on driving high powered vehicles were introduced for probationary licence drivers who obtained their licence from this date.

From this date a probationary licence holder cannot drive a vehicle if it has:

* An engine of eight or more cylinders;

* a turbocharged or supercharged engine (except diesel powered vehicles);

* an engine that has been modified to increase its performance; and/or

* any of the following high performance six cylinder vehicles as published in the

However a friend from uni pointed out that under the old rules (kW/weight ratio) I probably wouldn't be able to drive it (hence my paranoia). Therefore I decided to garage it for now. So can anyone tell me if its legal for me to drive it or not? If not I'd probably just get the Camry off my sister and let her drive the v35.

Thanks in advance

P.S. Sorry if I posted in the wrong thread, just though I didn't deserve it's own post, also used the search tool and couldn't find the answer to my question

You might need to check with Vic Roads, but I would imagine that if the old 125kw per tonne rule still exists you could be in trouble.

Hi All!

I've recently purchased a black '03 Skyline 350GT 6MT and am absolutely loving it!!! Will post some pictures a bit later. I've recently stumbled across this site and have so far found it really helpful. You guys know your stuff when it comes to the V35 so I'll probably be throwing some nooby questions your direction in the near future.

Cheers

J

    • Have a look at that (shitty) pic I posted. You can see AN -4 braided line coming to a -4 to 1/8 BSPT adapter, into a 1/8 BSPT T piece. The Haltech pressure sender is screwed into the long arm of the sender and factory sender (pre your pic) into the T side. You can also see the cable tie holding the whole contraption in place. Is it better than mounting the sender direct to your engine fitting......yes because it removes that vibration as the engine revs out 50 times every lap and that factory sender is pretty big. Is it necessary for you......well I've got no idea, I just don't like something important failing twice so over-engineer it to the moon!
    • Yup. You can get creative and make a sort of "bracket" with cable ties. Put 2 around the sender with a third passing underneath them strapped down against the sender. Then that third one is able to be passed through some hole at right angles to the orientation of the sender. Or some variation on the theme. Yes.... ummm, with caveats? I mean, the sender is BSP and you would likely have AN stuff on the hose, so yes, there would be the adapter you mention. But the block end will either be 1/8 NPT if that thread is still OK in there, or you can drill and tap it out to 1/4 BSP or NPT and use appropriate adapter there. As it stands, your mention of 1/8 BSPT male seems... wrong for the 1/8 NPT female it has to go into. The hose will be better, because even with the bush, the mass of the sender will be "hanging" off a hard threaded connection and will add some stress/strain to that. It might fail in the future. The hose eliminates almost all such risk - but adds in several more threaded connections to leak from! It really should be tapered, but it looks very long in that photo with no taper visible. If you have it in hand you should be able to see if it tapered or not. There technically is no possibility of a mechanical seal with a parallel male in a parallel female, so it is hard to believe that it is parallel male, but weirder things have happened. Maybe it's meant to seat on some surface when screwed in on the original installation? Anyway, at that thread size, parallel in parallel, with tape and goop, will seal just fine.
    • How do you propose I cable tie this: To something securely? Is it really just a case of finding a couple of holes and ziptying it there so it never goes flying or starts dangling around, more or less? Then run a 1/8 BSP Female to [hose adapter of choice?/AN?] and then the opposing fitting at the bush-into-oil-block end? being the hose-into-realistically likely a 1/8 BSPT male) Is this going to provide any real benefit over using a stainless/steel 1/4 to 1/8 BSPT reducing bush? I am making the assumption the OEM sender is BSPT not BSPP/BSP
    • I fashioned a ramp out of a couple of pieces of 140x35 lumber, to get the bumper up slightly, and then one of these is what I use
    • I wouldn't worry about dissimilar metal corrosion, should you just buy/make a steel replacement. There will be thread tape and sealant compound between the metals. The few little spots where they touch each other will be deep inside the joint, unable to get wet. And the alloy block is much much larger than a small steel fitting, so there is plenty of "sacrificial" capacity there. Any bush you put in there will be dissimilar anyway. Either steel or brass. Maybe stainless. All of them are different to the other parts in the chain. But what I said above still applies.
