Look what Titan Motorsport has done for the Supra, really good quality parts at cheap prices.

http://www.titanmotorsports.com/

no need to wait 4 weeks to get stuff from japan, just get it from america and it comes in a week or so.

I hope the same thing happens with the GTR.

Ah dood...

It's actually the Aussies who pronounce Nissan incorrectly.

It is properly pronounced neesssaaan...

Ni being pronounced knee.

ssan being pronounced saaaan (or sarn, or if you ever learnt japanese in high school... Son)

I'm probably glad they're getting it. Every yank I spoke to in the US that knew what a GTR was would have this idea that it was an indestructible car that terrorised the world with an iron claw or something. Sure I loved my old GTR but no way I'd look at it in the same light as a Porsche.

yer yer i know, its more the yanky nasal i dislike having just got back from there 2 weeks ago i'm well over it!

Your friend bought steering components (or components near the steering) from a country that has their steering wheels on the wrong side and wonders why they didn't fit correctly?

read what i wrote again.

It seems to be a Nissan-wide thing. The Z's paint is rubbish as well. It chips so much easier than other cars in its class, and at 1500kg its not like they should be worried about saving a kg or two by using fewer coats.

The paint on my V35 is superb. I have a sticker on the back window that says "5 Year Coat" - which I assume means it has some sort of protective coating on it or its warrantied for 5 years? Everytime i wash the car its a rewarding experience... the top coat dries quickly without spots and the silver looks deep and glittery. I actually polished and waxed the entire car one day with Maguires stuff and I can honestly say the quality of the paint looked no different, with no extra evident shine etc compared to before i did it. I even did half the roof at a time and you could not tell which side was shinier.

Rock on Kneesarn paint!

JK

the fact the yanks are getting it.

"neeeesannnnnnn" GTR i wished they called it the infinity gtr

well, at least we still claim titles to the R31, 32, 33 and R34 models and they have a hard time getting them.

apparently Nee-Saan is a more accurate way to pronounce it- just ask Baron

doesn't stop it sounding like aids to us when Seppos say it though

Funny how they cant pronounce Honda correctly and its their 'tuner' choice of car. "hahnduh" lol!!

isn't the 5 year coating just an added clear coat on top to con people out of an extra couple of grand when purchasing the car?

Well im not complaining, i wasnt the one that got conned  I rate it either way

exactly ferni and scathing, its great news that this will be sold in the US.

consider an intercooler kit for a 33 gtst. In 2001 you would pay about $2k for one fm HKS in Japan. Today you pay $300 for one from china that is twice the size.

The sooner there are cheap aftermarket bits for the r35 the better. And the bigger the market (ie US) the sooner we will have bits. Also means we will have an english workshop manual for sure which is something sorely missed for a lot of imports.

$AUD is even stronger against $USD than the yen, so it is all good. And we have free trade so only GST on imports from there

Slightly off topic.. was looking through that titan motorsport website and saw this for sale... expensive skyline

Proves that with greater coverage comes reduced prices.. Don't think I'd get US$26k if I sold my gtst.. GTR released on a scale this big can only be a good thing

My bosses 19 year old cousin is over from America and comes from an upper class (millions not tens of millions) family and was telling me about some of his friends and guys he went to school with. One he was telling me yesterday was that a friend of his was promised any car of his choice paid for by his parents when he got into college, his choice was of course a Neeesaaan (he says it that way aswell, im trying to teach him otherwise) R35 GTR. It was weird, i actually felt pissed off and betrayed (jealous) that anyone, especially some rich bastard who has never had to work gets an R35 for his first car. It was either the GTR or a Porsche....

Kudos to the parents but hey such is life, there will always be some 17-18 year old that gets given a luxury/sports vehicle as a gift for busting there chops off to have good education. I personally don't care if they get given a F430 just as long as the kid can appreciate what he or she is given.

Now on topic, it is wise of Nissan to capitalize in a market that craves for these sorts of vehicles so its simple economics DEMAND. My car in the U.S is so effing cheap in price compared to what we Aussies pay here, but its economies of a scale, they have a huge market so the price is adjusted. The U.S pricing of the R35 is supposed to be 70k (but since its new dealers are asking for 10k over sticker price) and we in Aus are being told that the price is estimated to be arpound 150k. We just got to make more babies so our population grows and we have a larger market. START POPPING EM OUT I SAY!!!

Bloody hell, all this pronunciation talk has me frothing.

日 ( NI ) 産 ( SAN )- NISSAN.

Ni stands for day. San stands for born.

So one could surmise and this is of course open to interpretation, that it translates into "Born on this day"

But Nissan used to be known as...

Nippon Sangyo - which translates into "Japanese Production": This may well have been the origins of the Nissan brand name.

I dont understand what all the fuss is about Nissan releasing the GTR in the State. The United Stated is still an economic powerhouse with 300 million people as if Nissan would release the new GTR over here before the US.The feasability study probs show its more profitable over there dont we all Nissan lovers want Nissan to make good profit margins so they can desgin and built better cars ?

I just got back from the states not too long ago and i must say that although the american accent is irritating...the feral aussie bogan accent is just as bad...cringeworthy even...

Don't get me wrong...i'm singaporean and our english is terrible too...and don't even get me started on indians...

Bottom line...there are car enthusiasts there too and they deserve decent cars as well...

    • Increasing overlap will bring the torque down earlier (and make your idle sound sick lol). Worth a shot (if you dyno time) to experience a bit (providing you are confident your valves won't kiss your pistons). Is to just take off 5 degrees across the boosted area of the map, and then retard the exhaust cam let's say, 3 degrees at a time and then overlay all the runs with VCT on all the way and VCT off as soon as you make positive pressure. Ideally you would have a total of 6x overlays to looks at 0 exhaust & VCT off once manifold pressure is +ve 0 exhaust & VCT on all the way -5 exhaust & VCT off once manifold pressure is +ve -5 exhaust & VCT on all the way -10 exhaust & VCT off once manifold pressure is +ve -10 exhaust & VCT on all the way Just leave your O2 wideband closed loop on for all of the boost area & RPM, and hopefully there isn't too much fuel correction needed and the Haltech is fast enough to compensate (I do this, then apply the correction to the main table). Getting that overlay data should give you a good indication of what to aim for.
    • So, my main limitation here is that the car does not have an oil pressure sensor by default, just a switch. As part of my tune I bought an oil pressure sensor upgrade so I now have access to oil pressure levels and logging rather than just the boolean behaviour of the switch but this means I need to use the tuning app to display this value. So, this rules out using any other app on the iPad. The app will also flash when pressure drops which is a nice feature. I have replaced the centre screen with an Android one, which is awesome for Android Auto, but I think it might be too far away and out of my line of sight. I might add some gauges to it this weekend and just see. I guess if its just temp and oil pressure I can make them massive! 🤣
    • This is what the look like normally. Except we only got the 2 doors locally
    • Back pressure is not really a function of the exhaust itself, but the turbine/housing. So the question/point remains valid. I would be fitting an EMAP tapping point and seeing what is going on in the exhaust manifold before committing to throwing boost at it. Flow. No intercooler is actually rated for continuous operation at any power level wrt temperatures, as they are no actually capable of shifting the required amounts of heat on a continuous basis. They get hot during a pul, then dump some of that heat into the external air (and some back into the internal air) during off load moments/periods). You probaby do need a bigger core, given the power level you're already at is somewhat above the "rating" of the cooler. Put pressure tapping points either side of the core (which possibly you already have, if you have a boost source near the compressor outlet and tapping near the throttle for existing purposes) and report on delta P across the core.   I haven't done the mass flow calculation to see where you would be sitting on the compressor map at the ~450is rwkW level we're talking here, but if you look just at the PR you're running at, which is ~2.8-2.9, then you have a really really wide swath of the compressor map to run in, and so long as you were making between about 45-75 lb/min of flow, you should have really good comp efficiency, with the ideal being betweem 55 and 65. I can't see the need to shift drastically on the map to get better results.
    • Welcome 🙂 The ER34 wheels and slight lowering suit the R33 sedan really well. I'm firmly in the 'keep it stock, at least on the outside' camp.
