Thats just pointless because if you are an F1 fan - a REAL F1 fan, you will respect SIR Jackie Stewart as much as the late Brockie, at the very least.

I'm up for that and ill take JS over JT any day of the millennium.

Last time i checked one had won a few championships and one had a race win under his belt... :D

You still havent adressed the issue of JS opinion vs JT opinion...

Hamilton cut the chicane there is no doubt; however there is also no doubt that he lifted to allow Kimi back in front. The question that will be debated on this and other websites for days to come is whether he lifted enough.

As far as I, and many others are concern, he broke regulation, incident was reviewed, he was punished accordingly and that is that... If you want to start questioning JT on the basis you have, save yourself.. You've not only dug yur own grave, you're already neck deep in it.. Lastly, and quite frankly, there isn't a damn thing you can do about it...

Cant agree. Stewards deal with the event on its merits. Not what happened several GPs ago in wet conditions...and they should have used their crystal ball to predict that Lewis was not going to make a mistake and KImi would have been slower and nto able to match the pace of the McLaren. If that was the case they shoudl promote Webber a few spots as they can crystal ball that if Heikki didnt punt him he woudl have finished higher up as well. The last thing the system needs is to introduce more subjective opinion....thats my opinion :D

JS seems more pre-occupied with Lewis cutting the chicane, with "Yes he gained a position..." seeming like an afterhought. Not the issue it was. He gave back the position, but my understanding is he was penalised because he gained an advantage. Harry got it in one re the constantina effect. He gaiend track position on Kimi....its all very line ball but i think on that ruling they are correct. Did he dive up under brakes courtesy of Kimi being too careful...yes. BUT, JT correctly pointed out...you hang arond the outside like that and if the move doesnt pay off....then you lose time on ....he gained time out of the situation...so. Thats it....fark it i am going to drink more of this horrible Indian wine

I have awesome respect for JYS, especially the way he stands up to max Mosley. I also would consider him very impartial and calls a spade a spade. However, it is fair to say that Jackie did race in a past era, I'm not saying that would in any way be any worse in terms of makign a judgement. However compare that to Trulli, he's in those things every second weekend, he knows first hand their braking power, their immense acceleration and I'm sure Jarno has been stung here and there by the stewards... Not taking anything away from Jackie, 3 times WDC is not something for someone to thumb their nose at, but his era of racing compared to the current one is rather irrelevent..

You know adam, you really should lay off the stewards in here unless you have tried the job yourself.

These guys are expected to stay on top of complex rules, teams cheating to the maximum extent possible without getting caught every day, being provided with mounds of meaningless data to support arguments, teams turning up with lawyers to hearings. And on top of all that they are not allowed to watch the races - they can only act on the reports of other judges and any supporting evidence supplied.

So....if you care so much about the sport, go and volunteer as a trainee steward at a local event. Do a couple and then come and report back on how it felt to walk in their shoes. IMHO its a real bastard of a job and no-one will ever appreciate the decisions you come to, especially at national and international level.

And for what its worth, it is self evident that LH would not have been that close to KR unless he cut the chicane. But I think that point has already been done to death.

And as I said in my original post on sunday night....well done to LH to outdrive KR in the wet - he did a great job in those last 2 laps.

What everyone ignores is that the corner apex speed of the McLaren at that point was hugely superior to the Ferrari. If you watch the next lap after the overtake you will see Kimi maintaining speed with LH until a few corners later when his car snaps on him. There follows a series of spins etc ending with him in the wall. It is relevant simply because it indicates the paucity of grip the Ferrari had at that time of the race.

It was the better grip of the McLaren combined with the poor line Kimi took into the corner following the chicane that allowed Hamilton to get past. Remember Kimi ran into the back of Lewis at the apex of the corner so it was not as though he only just snuck by.

As for the argument about whose had track positioning into the chicane this reflects one of the fundmental changes in F1. In years past (& not too many at that) drivers would not run each other out of road simply because to do so would result in someone getting hurt. They can do it now however because of the replacement of walls & sandtraps with run off areas. They all do it & it detracts from the sport.

he couldn't stay behind kimi because he was making a massive lunge from a long way back with nothing in reserve to allow himself to pull in behind should his move not be completed. so he cut the corner and but doing so gained track position. had their been a wall there he would not have been able to make that huge lunge under brakes. that is where he gained all the time.

I dunno. I don't reckon you get to make an overtaking move & have anything in reserve. It just doesn't work.

    • My thinking is that if the O2 sensor is shot then your entire above described experience is pure placebo.
    • Here is the mess that I made. That filler there was successful in filling dents in that area. But in the middle area. I can feel dents. And I've gone ocer it multiple times with filler. And the filler is no longer there because i accidently sanded it away. I've chased my tail on this job but this is something else lol. So I'm gonna attempt filler one more time and if it doesn't work I'll just high fill primer the door and see where the issues are because guidecoat is of no use atm.
    • Ok, so I think I sort of figured out where I went wrong. So I definitely overthinked it, and I over sanded, which is probably a large part of the problem. to fix it, I ended up tapping some spots that were likely to be high, made them low, filled them in, and I tackled small sections at a time, and it feels a lot better.    I think what confused me as well is you have the bare metal, and some spots darker and some are lighter, and when I run my finger across it, it' would feel like it's a low spot, but I think it's just a transition in different texture from metal to body filler.    When your finger's sliding on the body filler, and crosses over to the bare metal, going back and forth, it feels like it's a low spot. So I kept putting filler there and sanding, but I think it was just a transition in texture, nothing to do with the low or high spot. But the panel's feels a lot better, and I'm just going to end up priming it, and then I'll block it after with guide coat.   Ended up wasting just about all of my filler on this damn door lol  
    • -10 is plenty for running to an oil cooler. When you look at oil feeds, like power steering feeds, they're much smaller, and then just a larger hose size to move volume in less pressure. No need for -12. Even on the race cars, like Duncans, and endurance cars, most of them are all running -10 and everything works perfectly fine, temps are under control, and there's no restrictions.
    • Update: O2 sensor in my downpipe turned out to be faulty when I plugged in to the Haltech software. Was getting a "open circuit" warning. Tons of carbon buildup on it, probably from when I was running rich for a while before getting it corrected. Replaced with new unit and test drove again. The shuffle still happens, albeit far less now. I am not able to replicate it as reliably and it no longer happens at the same RPM levels as before. The only time I was able to hear it was in 5th going uphill and another time in 5th where there was no noticeable incline but applying more throttle first sped it up and then cleared it. Then once in 4th when I slightly lifted the throttle going over a bump but cleared right after. My understanding is that with the O2 sensor out, the ECU relies entirely on the MAP tune and isn't able to make its small adjustments based on the sensors reading. All in all, a big improvement, though not the silver bullet. Will try validating the actuators are set up correctly, and potentially setting up shop time to tune the boost controller on closed loop rather than the open loop it is set to now. Think if it's set up on closed loop to take the O2 reading, that should deal with these last bits. Will try to update again as I go.
