Guessing the 3ltr was in for superlap? Sounds quieter than a 26 in that vid.

What block did you guys end up using, just a run of the mill nissan item, one of the 4wd blocks rips sells, or some other variant?

Impressive steering in the in-car vid too

Looks like it will scare some of the american/japanese workshop built cars once the attessa is sorted!

yep it's 3ltr. and was 3ltr at superlap. it's far from quiet though, but it does sound different for sure.

most of the engine is from a tomei drag car (yellow 34), but obviously rebuilt. from memory it's a regular nissan rb30 block but mark or russ can confirm that.

it should be very good once sorted. i'm currently sussing out some more events for us in japan after the tsukuba time attack. we are looking to get into some of the best motoring style 5 lap tuner battles against other jap tuned pro class GTRs. now that would be something special. also want to run the car at fuji speedway. mark reckons with the right diffs it will pull 300km+++ at fuji and I don't doubt it. :D

lol, fark it wasn't me! ;)

yeah you are right mate. the yellow tomei R34 along with a couple of other cars was stolen by some lowlifes when it was for sale in aus. I'm not sure how much of the full story is public and I imagine it's a pretty touchy subject but the relevant part here is some stuff was recovered. and of that stuff mark and russ bought some of the bits. not much though. mainly just bonnet, boot and some engine stuff :D

Just spotted the car in the *new & improved* Auto Salon magazine.

The mag is still probably not to everyones' taste, but it's got good coverage of what the boys have been up to.

Congrats to Mark & Russ - great to see the interest and support the car is generating.

    • Am I correct in assuming that the R35's are getting the classic skyline haircut off the odometer?  Quick search on carsales, there are 33 08 and 09 GTR's for sale, only 2 of them have more then 100,000km's on them (116,075 and 110,000 respectively).  And somehow there are about 25 for sale with around 60,000kms? Looks like the classic skyline haircut to me =/
    • @Stringycheese  Have you only gone to the one blue slip workshop?  There will be a heap of them where ever you live, good odds that the next place you go to will pass the car.  Unfortunately (or fortunately?) every blue slip / engineering workshop will be different and will be happy passing or failing different things - despite working from the same set of rules. It's kinda like 2 lawyers arguing over a piece of legislation, each saying their interpretation is correct. Might seem strange that this happens when it comes to getting a modified car passed, but this is very much a thing. A big part of the game is finding an engineer / workshop that is on the same page as you.
    • Bah. I daily mine. ~60km per work day, 10-12 thousand km per year. What's the point of having a dirty old Datto and leaving it in the shed. It needs to be driven and enjoyed while the govco allows us to do so. It will only be a few years before we're forbidden to even start up internal combustion engines.
    • Judging by that spring perch and the normal looking spring on it - not a coilover. Well.... it is a coilover, just a stock format coilover, rather than what everyone calls a coilover.
    • Yes it is. We get stock from Nismo directly. I'm happy to take photos/video of it as proof before I ship it with timestamps or whathaveyou.
