So a stock looking and sounding GT-R with 400 + kw's at the treds....

must be a lie only people in nsw could pull this off.... or maybe its on autosalon's dyno ?

Did someone say that top gear should road test this standard gt-r ?

Assuming this is legit, this must be up there with Giants BNR32 results. "N1's" (Undoubtedly modified) with greater then stock response, 400rwkw and 10s quarters?

Makes ppl that fit singles, wanting less then 400kw's look like monkeys haahahah.

...Still in shock with a whiff of denial, I am.

There are enough subtle things going on in the engine bay to know this is genuine. Go to Vic race tracks to see some of the RPM built GTRs doing there thing and you will be amazed by how quiet the cars are. A result of the in house exhaust development. You see how quick they are and thats a result of the chassis, engine, braking, cooling development that RPM have done on the GTR.

I say hats off to a local workshop wearing the huge expense of development and showing an amazing level of ingenuity. Rather then just slapping a catalogue of Japanese brand names on it and hoping that it works, or assuming that Aus Engineering/Tuning is inferior to Japanese so not worth the bother.

Personally it sux to see the GTRs going so quick becuase i have to admit to myself that deep down i want one :)

:) 100% :D

I've personally only realised more recently, the insane levels of expense required by shops (So, not just experimenting on various customers "no budget" project car)

The cash equates into nothing more then knowledge to put into another customers car.

People often whinge when shops lock ECU's or don't divulge certain details of setup. "Its my car dammit" they say. Often certain tricks can make or break a setup; differentiate it from the pack. Big shops aren't around to fluff you, they run a business.

What ever they are doing, should be kept tight to their chest.

Respect

Just put the figures into the dyno comparison tool http://sau.garagespank.com/login.php it's very impressive to say the least.. My car was running race fuel octane with plenty of timing and it still doesnt have anywhere near the down low power...

The way the dyno operator loads the car up also makes a huge difference to the look of the curve.

I've came to the conclusion that its near impossible to compare a curve in a true sense.

Mine for example during tuning was seeing 225rwkw at 4000rpm with 1bar; a usual shootout mode power run where you'd nail the throttle at 2000rpm and by 4000rpm we would only see 190rwkw.

But none the less this gtr does have it.

Goes like no other RB we have ever seen!

Sounds like a dream??? photoshop??

I can assure you it is for real!

Hopefully there is more to come so stay tuned...

Well done Ben...top stuff. Very similar to our 20psi BP98 run at Autosalon Newcastle. You have better down low (i suspect my GT-RS turbo's might be a little laggier than what you have fitted), mines a bit harder midrange but with the same top-end. Good comparo as yours is not finally tuned, ours was ran-in the day before and still with a very safe tune. If someone would like to re-plot our graph over Bens so its easier to look at feel free.

GO THE LOW-MOUNTS!!

Its a 2.9ltr Joel (same as thread title, RB29) :D

That it is buddy. :P

Mark99 used a destroked rb30 crank with rods and custom pistons in an rb26 block to obtain 2.9ltrs. Very similar result.

Curious if this is how they are also doing it.

150rwkw off the bat at 2600rpm is impressive. Its pretty much the same as my stock rb20det turbo'd rb30det was making without loading the car up prior to starting the power run. With the GT30 with 1bar it doesn't make 150rwkw until 3000rpm if you don't load it up prior. hence my comment of how a car is loaded up makes a huge difference to the look of area under the curve. IMO. :whistling:

    • My idle is set at 950rpm though - Moving the timing around 20 degrees is not really what I'd call a calm idle. That said... neither is chop, by definition. The LS ECU likes to adjust timing to hold idle as opposed to air. It'd work, but generally speaking there'd be a discrepancy in the base idle and the IACV would want to move the timing around anyway to maintain said idle. I think I'm just going to keep the timing steady anyway. Preserve my engine mounts.  My aircon is now officially regassed. As the guy was reversing I noticed my reverse lights do not operate, along with my reverse cam. This is a bit distressing, because 100% of guides talk about which wire to connect to backup cams as "the goes with the [other color] wire". Often when doing conversions. Unfortunately the R34 colour wires aren't documented Unfortunately I had a T56 Magnum gearbox with it's reverse switch, which also isn't documented. Unfortunately there's definitely not documentation for people with both of these in the one car. Unfortunately I forgot. After many hours of this, I have a reverse cam and reverse lights again. The wire going through the trans tunnel to the reverse switch had broken. Upon inspection, it looks like this one wire had about 7 spade terminals and extensions in it.. for reasons I cannot possibly comprehend. I also spent the 750 hours required to clean up the wiring behind my head unit which now looks like this: This is a monumental improvement relative to what used to be there WRT triple gauges, head unit, traction control, wideband controller, and whatever the f**k OEM stuff still exists there in various states of connectivity/needed. Next step is to check in at the Exhaust shop to see/confirm how much clearance I have, to decide what mid mufflers or 'resonators' (which are just straight through, narrower mufflers) I can add and hopefully cut out a lot of exhaust leaks, pinhole, v-band or otherwise. But first step will be to 'take a look' before the next step.
    • Fark the AFM card and Nistune, Haltech Nexus S3, DBW, cruise control, flex fuel, dis dat.
    • It's most likely the bolt/bush where the cover bolts back wore and allowed cover to move forward.
    • Still haven't put the injectors and R35 AFM in so we can tune the bloody thing for the HG highflow it got mid last year! I think I can forecast the upgrade path to a bigger twin scroll, external gate, Haltech, flex setup, Samsonas, dis dat, etc will be .... a while away!
    • Should have taken that opportunity to slot in a twin scroll turbo setup. Maybe next time.
