Sadly as some of you know, I sold the Evo on Thursday evening after 4 days of rushing around to get it ready for the seller who needed it by yesterday.

Due to changes in circumstances in life, I could no longer comfortably afford to keep it and had struggled for a number of months (all the invites out for drinks that I couldnt go to were in a large part due to this).

So for the time being until I work out what I am doing, I will probably just get a $10K run around and enjoy having some disposable income each month.

A huge thanks must go to Techsport (Jeff and Zac) for their part in helping me enjoy this car. They worked numerous late evenings in the near 2 years I owned it to help me get it ready for trips/events and work around my 9-5 job. Even Wednesday night I didnt leave until gone 8.30pm with both of them helping get it ready for the new owner.

Other thanks must go to Matt Lowth for his tuning abilities, Roy Cushan for his track day tips and SAU VIC for providing events to enjoy the car, particularly DECA which is where I get more enjoyment out of driving it.

I will still be around and at meets as the club is a unique blend of great, fun people with a wealth of knowledge and having just renewed my membership.

Evo ownership for me definately isnt over and maybe down the track a X will be on the cards.

Having driven nearly 50,000kms in my car during my ownership, nothing mechanically failed during that time so from my perspective, it did exactly what I bought it for. I was never pulled over in it either. They really are great cars and I am sure the new owner will appreciate it as much as I did (also a friend of Jeff's).

So, thanks SAU VIC and see you all around :(

On behalf of Techsport,

Forget Techsport, I think we all know who the real winners are here...

Seriously though, it is sad to see it go Alan. I know how much you enjoyed the car.

On the up side, at least now you can go back to your roots and buy this...

LOL @ Fence. Good stuff Alan, you've enjoyed it while it lasted and that's the main thing. Sometimes taking a break from driving these sort of cars, makes it all that much sweeter when you get back into one a year or 2 later :( See you round!

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Good work West, normally I would agree but oddly enough, I don't think they mind working all hours (waits for Jeff to jump on and disagree!) :D

Fences are winners, many have been spared now ;)

Definately be back in something performance at some point but not sure what or when, might be sooner rather than later, not sure at this stage. All I know is haveing owned an Evo, nothing comes close to all round out of the box and ticking all boxes :D

Pushbike is clocking up lots of kms again, did 50 yesterday and another 15 today already! Nearly up to my former 500kms a week! :D

    • Just read this... Just a little bit of a wild one! Do you think the driver was testing out a new feature/device for how to lose the cops in a high speed chase?   I also suspect, if the box has a road sweeper that does magnetic metal pick up, he does a LOT of work in the machining industry. Which is what most of that looked like, machining chips from a mill or lathe. And I bet they're RAZOR sharp! And from an environmental perspective they really do need to actually collect all of those little pieces too. I wonder how many people still cop flat tires over the coming months on that road?   As for insurance company, yeah, it'd be interesting to hear what they say to the owner. But realistically, he's right, that "It's his fault". In the way that, it was his truck that spilled it, so they need to clean it up. However, neither he, nor his insurance company may bear the end cost if they do an investigation and find out it was caused by someone elses negligence (And they know who)...
    • Yeah, no matter what bad things people can say about Julian from Autospeed, he at least was capable of thinking and his inclusion of a check/relief valve in the plumbing for the Audi boost controller, that I made a copy of and used for years**, completely eradicated that problem. **It's still lying on my workbench where I put it about, um, 18 years ago and have never found a home for it!
    • I didn't actually know this! I've seen photos of the H1, mainly outside shots, and they just look "different". I guess there'd be a few little changes like nicer rims, and probably the fact they have nicer looking paint with some depth and shine, which will make any vehicles body look different to the very flat colours of the defence force.   I've watched the guys on GHPC convert their Humvee to LS1, and they've done some really nice front shock upgrade. I'm waiting for the next video on it with the rear end done. I can't remember if they've already done it, or I dreamed it, but I believe they're also supercharging theres. They will be in the future doing proper long travel suspension too.   If you ditch out your big V8, as rubbish as it must be, send it to my place. I'll let the unreliable V8 motor and box be here. I just like V8s... So I'll find something to do with it... Even if that something is just taking up valuable space in the yard. I might have something Skyline I can send back in payment... Or even Ford Barra motors  (From memory you're in Canada yeah?) So you can then play with the legendary Aussie 4L version of an RB...  Except they don't have that distinctive random miss at idle like the RB25 does.
    • Or you mean the age old problem of early 2000's manual boost tees, where they never let the pressure out of the line between the boost tee, and the waste gate, so after your first trip on boost, the damn wastegate liked to stay open and be laggy on gear change?
    • Being behind an RB25DET, we know he won't have the small box for long at all...
