Official Launch At Melbourne Motor Show

Recommended Posts

Absolutely insane in the flesh ... stands out like dogs balls (in a good way =D)

I went past the bugatti veryron stand... looked for half a minute....

I went past the new "coupe60" stand... looked for a minute (Must admit it looked VERY nice. The ONLY holden i have ever seen whose looks impressed me).

I went past the R35... stared for 15 minutes. Then ran to the bathroom.

Biggest crowd by far was round the GTR when i was there, over any other car there. Pictures don't do it justice - you have to see it in the flesh to appreciate what an animal it is.

Oh and there was an EVO X, Toyota Supra/LFA Concept, a few lambos ferraris and what not....

Awesome.....I know where ill be salavitating on March 26th! :P

Looks so much better in the flesh than in photos.

Absolutely the star of the show despite all the concept cars.

I didn't know there were racing versions in the country or any intention of racing them here yet?

What category would they run in anyway?

Performance Cars is about dead as a category but perhaps it could show up a few of the Porsches, Lambos and Ferraris in GT.

No worries!

I received the info in an email from Nissan Australia, who will be presenting it. I'm guessing they will just have the car plopped in the middle somewhere with some rope around it... should be pretty cool

its an oz spec one. I was talking to the nissan engineer and he said that its probably going to be release jan '09'.

Also asked if it was possible to purchase the one on the stand... he said no :)

After seeing it in the flesh im definately gonna buy one once its release

Forgot to add.. What they meant by Only GTR here is that its the only Oz spec GTR here... so no speedlimiter :)

I talked to the engineer about that as well.

Um no. It's very much a Japanese model. All the buttons are in Japanese for a start. He is just telling porkies plain and simple and I bet you anything you want that it does have a speed limiter.

I wish I knew :P

Unfortunately, I know the answer to that.

They have applied to bring it in as a full volume import. They are expecting to sell a large number of them over a 4-5 year period, and can't be limited by 100 a year, as their forecast for 2010 is for 150-200 units.

Screws up the low volume stuff, and I know atleast 5 people have R35s held in Japan waiting for the 18month period to end. However, it won't because Nissan Australia will have it released and first one delivered by January 2009, which cuts us 3 months short of making SEVS.

Only saving grace is that it doesn't go full volume, but every indicator says it will.

just got back from another drive in the thing. It was wet tonight and there was plenty of traction loss. I really believe the tyres are losing traction because of the cars weight but meh, i could be wrong..

Its nice to have a mate who owns one though!

    • Is the panel filter one that is oiled? Have you ever cleaned or touched the AFM?
    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
    • It is the stock air box with the panel filter. Everything else is stock except the exhaust at this point, as I also went back to the cleaned 270cc injectors. I will check the RPM when the IACV is unplugged and report back.
    • As MBS suggested if this is happening when the engine is cold you're going to want to remove the intake air regulator and verify resistance + that the shutter is physically opening and closing. At -20C should be fully open, 20C half open, over 60C fully closed. At 20C should be 70-80 ohms. For AAC valve testing using a Consult cable see if you can raise and lower the idle by commanding more or less AAC duty cycle. Hopefully it's pretty linear as well, shouldn't be like 30% AAC valve is barely idling and 40% is 1500 rpm.
