OK

My shafts haven't arrived yet.

The photo's attached are of the ACPT Carbon shaft.

I was sent these pic's and the shaft comes with all of the new adapters and fittings as confirmed by JAMES of APCT.

Addvantages:

  • one piece design
  • stronger shaft and fittings to match
  • but still flexes and therefore will transmits less shock loads to the gearbox and diff
  • approximatly half the weigth of the std. steel shafts, this lighter recipricating mass will provide better revibility and response (everyone, that has fitted one, swears by them)

cheers Phil.

Thanks for posting those photos Phil...

Looks like a carbon sleeved metal shaft. I'm still interested.

its not made of metal,

but think about it.. you cant have carbon joints can you? so there is two metal ends on a carbon shaft.

now if your wondering about reliability... some very very fast drag cars use these shafts in the uk and do not have problems..

  • 2 weeks later...
you dont have an exact weight for one these do you ? as i have been looking at the TORQline shafts they are 5.9kg but for the price of these they are very tempting

they are pretty much the same weight. 5-6kg's

Have other ppl on SAU used these brand prop shafts?

How much power do they run?

How long have they had them in?

What motorsport do they do?

Depending on answers - add me to the list.

There are many people running these shafts,

i cant quiet get the sepcs on it but i think the mines r34 uses acpt made shaft,

Trust/Hks and alot of big tuning shops in japan sell re branded acpt shafts,

Acpt supplied nismo for the r34 Ztune.

is that enough for you?

You can also find Justin Fox on the forum and ask him about the one he's using.

With a few more people this can be underway!

Cheers

Andrew

Indy from IS Motor Racing fitted my one. When we fitted it up there was a situation where we weren't sure if it fit right or not. A quick email (with pics) to and fro between myself and ACPT and all was sorted (all we had to do was have faith and tighten up the main bolts all the way).

I can't tell if the shaft made any difference to the car as I got a whole lot of modifications done at the same time.

Greenline list a TRUST ACPT CARBON SHAFT, 7.4kg (normal 14.9kg) rated to 14000rpm and 350+km/hr, that looks like the one in Justins pics.

(edit; it looks like the one posted by GTR STI, with a sort of ribbed appearance and a resin type colour, whilst justins one looks black and doesnt appear ribbed. can anyone explain why they look different?)

If this is the same shaft as your group buy, then count me IN.

The best part is that greenline lists it at AUD $3750, or USD $3550, which makes the group buy seem extremely attractive.

They are all acpt, i think that photo phil posted is a common one they send out as i have seen them on the uk forum also..

And a reminder, for an extra 100us you can get a shaft that will handle 2000ft pounds of torque compared to the 1400us 1000ft pounds..

As for payment, as soon as i can get 10 people confirmed i will start collecting money to get it off to james as acpt!

Cheers

Andrew

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
