That water feed looks way to far out :blink: Might still work... be interesting to see the final result once its in. My guess is it will be tight if it does fit...

Is that an xforce manifold?? I have heard that they crack fairly easily from people that have run them.... might pay to HPC it now while its still out of the car .... Wrapping wont help unfortunately... I have seen one die after 2 months. He HPC'd (black same as mine) the next one (ebay jobby) and it lasted over 2 years on a 400+rwkw GTR

what you need to do to make sure it doesnt crack or any manifold for the matter is make sure the exhaust system is properlly supported around the back of the gearbox this is one of the main causes of manifolds cracking.. exhausts only having mounts at the back.. rest of the system hanging off the turbo and manifold im quite suprised tho.. 1100 for the manifold and you chose the stainless one over a 6boost mani?

Something along the lines of the Nismo colours. And the the style of the SIGNAL R43 GTR.

As far as the manifold, we will see what happens. I bought the manifold in a kit off a forum member. I have not heard any bad reports about these items as yet. Its all well and good to bag out a product if you have had one fail on you personally. How many of you can say you have had one of these manifolds fail on you??

6boost items are a good manifold and have a good reputation,but because the GCG ones are not as known doesnt mean they are any better or worse than the other.

Stainless are known to crack more than other types of material,but i personally know of many cars that have branded stainless manifolds and have not had a problem.

Time will tell as to how all products perform.

On another note i have sprayed the CAS in silver engine enamel which looks alot better than stock. Also plumbed up all the heater lines. Maybe....just maybe it will be in the car this weekend :D

do GCG make their manifolds or just import and sell them? they look amazingly similar to others I have seen. anyway I have to agree $1100 is a little harsh if it is the same spec as some others getting around. the 6boost ones though look awesome, and I think from memory are under the $1000 mark for RB25.

anyway, you will find out soon enough what it's like and I'm guessing the one good thing about a mammoth price tag is it most likely comes with a good, replacement warranty.

In no way are they the same as the TuneAgent manifolds.

They look near identical from the pictures..

ah okies.... from that angle it looked identical to an exforce one....

Still HPC it imo.... being stainless it still wont like the exhaust wrap.....

Yup... round the $1000 dollar mark these days... they weren't 12 months ago when I got mine though *grumbles*

Yeah, unfortunatly hp coating only helps crack cheap manifolds, it traps the heat in them forcing the bad quality tig welds to fail.

Look at all the 9/10 sec r33s or vls, that is where all the wastegates are positioned, for space, heat probs and efficiency with exhaust gas and for easy integration with the dump pipe.

What does stainless have to do with exhaust wrap. Had it on my stainless manifold and dump pipe for 3 years. Still works exellent.

Thanks for your enquiry, I hope the following information answers a few questions.

1st There are 8 different rod factories in China

2nd There are no rod factories in Taiwan. There are "Trading Companies" in Taiwan that sell rods that are made in China, but no factories.

3rd SCAT designed the 3/8" bolts in conjunction with ARP. We have them made with and without the SCAT logo. We use the bolts with the SCAT name in

all rods by SCAT and sold under the SCAT brand label.

When we sell to Brian Crower and other per their request, we finish those rods with same bolts but without the SCAT I.D. on the bolt. We also sell bolts separately both ways.

4th Rocket and others in Australia are big buyers of rods, but very few bolts.

5th If you go to the SCAT website; www.scatenterprises.com, on page 6 and 15 of your 2008 catalog you will see pictures of the SCAT Rod Dept. at our USA location in Redondo Beach, California. It also describes what procedures are preformed at SCAT.

6th It is no secret that SCAT buys rod forgings in China. The quality of forgings from China is as good as you are going to get any place in the world. What is not so good is getting finished product like all our competitors do. This is why SCAT does what we do in Redondo Beach, CA. If you are in the Los Angeles area we would be very happy take you on a tour of our state of the art crank and rod facility.

7th Question: If Spool is buying rods from Taiwan aka China without bolts, how are the rods machined without the proper bolts, torque property, etc. The proper bolts can only be used a few times before they are stretched beyond use. Does Spool have a modern CNC machining facility like Scats' to insure quality every time? Just a question.

Interesting..

I met my supplier at a trade show in Taiwan and deal with him there. Im now presuming they are made in China :-) and sold out of Taiwan. Which is ok with me as per the info above and the quality of my conrods.

Paul - as you are aware all my rods were perfectly sized and of the several hundred sets I have sold, I have never once had an issue with sizing. So how ever they are machined ( which I will find out and let you know ) it is working fine. My supplier does not supply with bolts and will not even if I ask. They are machined at the specified torque as I have asked that question before. They say they can not supply bolts as good as ARP so leave it to me to source them here.

OK all,

Manifold has been wrapped. All the braided lines that are in close proximity to the manifold have been wrapped in that silver adhesive heatproof wrap.

All the heater hoses are connected. All the sensors have been put into the right spots. The brackets and new engine mounts are on.

The fuel rail has been modified to suit the new plenum. I have to go to Bunnings and get one new bolt for the plenum and new bolts for the fuel rail.

I also need to get new O-rings for the injectors.

I spend over $300 today on oils,coolant,filters and plugs :cheers:

I think ill leave all the wiring till the motor is in the car.Which will be tomorrow hopefully :(

Cost $170 to have made at the local hydraulic shop including all new banjo bolts. The oil drain was fabricated at the workshop.

    • OK, Step 3, if you need to remove the valve body, either to replace it, the TCM, or to do a more complete drain.  First, you need to disconnect the TCM input wires, they are about half way up the transmission on the drivers side. One plug and the wires are out of the way, but there is also a spring clip that stops the socket from sliding back into the transmission. On my car the spring clip was easy to get, but the socket was really stuck in the o-ring of the transmission housing and took some.....persuasion. You can see both the plug to remove (first) and the spring clip (second) in this pic Incidentally, right next to the plug, you can see where the casting has allowance for a dispstick/filler which Nissan decided not to provide. there is a cap held on with a 6mm head bolt that you can remove to overfill it (AMS recommend a 1.5l overfill). Final step before the big mess, remove the speed sensor that is clipped to the valve body at the rear of the box.  Then removal of the Valve Body. For this the USDM Q50 workshop manual has a critical diagram: There are a billion bolts visible. Almost all of them do not need to be removed, just the 14 shown on the diagram. Even so, I both removed one extra, and didn't check which length bolt came from which location (more on that later....). Again it is worth undoing the 4 corners first, but leaving them a couple of turns in to hold the unit up....gravity is not your friend here and trans oil will be going everywhere. Once the corners are loose but still in remove all the other 10 bolts, then hold the valve body up with 1 hand while removing the final 4. Then, everything just comes free easily, or like in my case you start swearing because that plug is stuck in the casing. Done, the valve body and TCM are out
    • OK, so if you are either going for the bigger fluid change or are changing the valve body which includes the Transmission Control Module (TCM), first you should have both a new gasket 31397-1XJ0A and a torque wrench that can work down to 8Nm (very low, probably a 1/4 drive one). You can probably get by without either, but I really didn't want to pull it all apart together due to a leak. First, you now need that big oil pan. The transmission pan is 450 long x 350 wide, and it will probably leak on all sides, so get ready for a mess. There are 24x 6mm headed bolts holding the pan on. I undid the 2 rear corners, then screwed those bolts back in a couple of turns to let the pan go low at that end, then removed all the middle bolts on each side. Then, undo the front corner bolts slowly while holding the pan up, and 80% of the fluid will head out the rear. From there, remove the remaining bolts and the pan is off. You can see it is still dripping oil absolutely everywhere...it dripped all night.... I got another couple of litres when I removed the pan, and then another few when I removed the valve body - all up another 4l on top of the 3 already dropped in step 1.
    • Yeh I think i'll message an old contact i had for ages that manages his own tyre shop now.. n tell him what i want n work with him before ordering..  Got this 17x9 +30 Driftteks on 245/45/17 PSR Drag Radials on the rear.. They fit well - for your reference in future - Rear guards  have been lipped in & minimal to non flaring of the rear Gaurds.    
    • If only it were that easy! I also needed to remove seats, shocks, brake calipers, send my car through a fence, and use measuring and ended up guessing because I didn't remove seats, shocks and brake calipers. It can be hard sometimes Can be a little more complex than 'just measure' if you want to truly measure the entire wheel through all of it's suspension travel. But if you aren't going for every last mm then yeah, you can check the space you currently have and guesstimate.
    • If you own a car, and it has wheels on it, and you know the offset of those wheels, and you have a measuring device, you have everything you need to work out if other wheels will fit.
