Sorry if this has been covered to lazy to read the whole 10 pages but can this ecu be used with auto equipped cars or strictly manual only and is there a price list somewhere for all the different models

all but the auto r34...which is being worked on and will be released soon.

the plug in is a board...needs to be installed into a STD Nissan case.

so by that we need 2 have an original ecu 2 fit it into or will they b fitted in 1 when we buy it as im gona get when when i have the money but my car has a power fc and dont wana pull it apart as i wanna sell it after i fit the vipec

interested to see differences between PFC and Vipec on a street GTR. Anyone have before and after data?

i should be able to post up details next week sometime afteri get the vi-pec installed in my 32r

just waiting for a date nd time for the install

Got a little bit of news on the V66...yes its based on the V44 but is a special one off item specifically designed for the Skyline and features direct fire ignition. I was worried it might be a wasted spark set-up but no its direct fire. Still a couple of weeks before i get some in stock...illl let you know when its here.

Paul,

According to the documentation ( http://www.vi-pec.com/techdata/Vi-PEC_Niss...-GTR_PlugIn.pdf ) it does run as a wasted spark setup.

The base model Nissan GTS-GTR VX Plug-In ECU has four

ignition drivers. This means that on a six cylinder engine the

ignition coils are run in a wasted spark configuration. For future

upgrade reasons Ignition 3 and Ignition 4 channels are joined

together.

(page 22 of the PDF)

Also neither the documentation nor the website says if you can use the launch control with the V66.

Does the Anti lag come included as standard?

Can it do boost control (if it does is it supplied with the solenoid?)

Is it supplied with the intake air temp sensor? (basically what is the unit supplied with?)

Finally, do you have a price yet?

The only feature I see of this ECU, that is beating the Adaptronic e420c, is the auto gearbox control.

And hey, the e420c costs around $1290RRP, with the plugin loom, runs map, boost control, launch control, traction control, dual maps, will do what you want it to when it sees knock, so many features in the Adaptronic.

Closed loop idle, fuelling changes dependent on temp.

All software and upgrades free, and when you get on there forums, or ring the business, you either speak to the Owner, or the 3 guys working for him. All of whom are into there cars, and extremely good at there jobs of fitting the ECU.

So the question for me, deciding between these two ECUs if I was going to, would be "Is $700 more worth it for the auto gearbox control" for me, no it isn't, I run a manual, for the auto guys, it might just be, but you just leave your stock ECU piggy backed in to run the auto and save $700...

I hadn't managed to find the final price, as I got to page 4, and got sick of the one sided bias coming from Dirt Garage who kept knocking everyone down if they passed a comment he didn't agree with... But hey, that's what sales is all about, pushing your point of view...

Its a shame, but I have been contacted by Autronic's solicitors about a post in this thread. I have had my solicitors look over the request and have been advised that it is a reasonable request and not worth disputing. Its for that reason that the post has been removed.

It upsets me that as we are all enthusiasts in the same industry that this had to be requested via a legal third party.

Carry on.

Yeah the distributor assured me it was wasted spark...i doubted it...runs good on all cars we have tested it on though. It can be also programmed to run clever features like map/temp so it will only access parts of the map as car heats up...for example on start up restrict you to a 5000rpm rev limit and as car warms up open more and more of the map.

Wow... I guess thats proof for everyone that PranK isn't paranoid, its just how it is.

v88 would provide ignition driver for each cylinder

in practice its not going to be a big issue , you may have slightly more wear in spark plugs as they fire more often . its possible on some mega hp application you may not have enough dwell (recharge) time to get enough electricity to the coil. I doubt this as many mega hp aftermarket ignition systems are wasted spark.

also a tuner once tried to explain to me that the load on the coil that is firing with nothing to ignite is much smaller , so that would explain the lack of dwell time not being an issue . but I could not really understand why load would be less.

Any news on the other questions?

lso neither the documentation nor the website says if you can use the launch control with the V66. - need to confirm

Does the Anti lag come included as standard? - need to confirm

Can it do boost control (if it does is it supplied with the solenoid?) - yes , can use stock solenoid . none supplied

Is it supplied with the intake air temp sensor? (basically what is the unit supplied with?) - yes , our ones so far have had air temp supplied

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?
    • @Duncan I can try  and thanks i did not thought about VIN and part numbers for 33/34. @GTSBoy yeah it looks like iam gonna do that
    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
