Yeah I'd like to thank Archie for reminding me I'm still alive. There's nothing quite like going through the kink backwards at 150km/hr to point it out to ones self.

You should of went home and hugged your family and told them how much they mean to you and returned that library book you borrowed in 1985.

I actually enjoyed myself and was spewing i didn't get a crack at a better time when the sun came out later on.

The first practice session of the day when the track was at its worst i tootled around and did a PB of 1.23.2.

On my previous (and first) outing there with good track conditions I managed a 1.23.5 and this was with a single turbo setup.

Just goes to show how much better the current twin set up is :D

I was glad though that there were no casualties due to my oil spill. I had no idea i was leaking oil as i drove around and exited the track.

Juz picked it up and mentioned it in the pits and we thought we better let clerk of course etc know asap but i imagine by that time a few would have already gone over it.

Jarrod that's no excuse! I wanted a pic damn it. If you're in the in-field than that means you're hardcore and can take a hit.....even if it is from a car!!

well despite the usaul issues i had an absolute ball. killed my pb by 4 seconds and the other datto boys also whipped out pb's. Good work russman, has the bug bitten now? haha

i seem to have issues with the nuts that hold my turbo on the manifold constantly coming loose. its a top mount and the nuts wind their way up! so i end up spending most of my day either driving or fixing and don't get to wach too many others.

i'm glad the pre 89 class is starting to get quicker too, look out skylines haha

yeah we got through scrutineers ok :teehee:

but it was short lived for me, fried my rear pads to the metal after the 2nd session and wasnt making much boost all day, (found out when i got home the wastegate actuator had un bolted its self,) but it makes me feel even happier with my 1:26.7 knowing i had no boost.

well done to leigh, posted good times and drove home. (no trailer)

and crossy back in the corona, lasting all day.

Top work on the great time. Yeh, its great to see that with a wider cross section of cars and driverr everybody is still going scary quick. Back in 2004/2005 that would have been quick enough to get you into the top few cars inc all the GTRs.

No doubt with time, practice and development there is more fin to be had. LOL, i cant imagine punting a 1600 around a place like Sandown with the slow corners. SO much steering effort must be required!

Some data from the day - unfortunately for me, my fastest session (session 3) hasn't logged properly so no comparison base for next time - I'll be flying blind! :P

Best theoretical time with all fastest logged sectors was 1.20.6 - shows how inconsistent I was on the day with a fastest of 1.21.8, blah... :)

Looking at lat and long G ratings the track wasn't as bad as it felt as I have never recorded more than 1.5G's under brakes (1.41 G's last year, however my pads were nearly shagged on Sunday and should have changed them) although the corner loads were down at bit, would normally see 1.35 - 1.4 G

Interesting stuff Andrew. I notice your top speed was about 9km/hr down on my recorded top speed (235km/hr). But my top speed was about 10km/hr down on where it usually is which makes sense based upon where my shift points on the back straight were on Sunday.

But the thing I'm finding most interesting is you saying the braking forces were up from the past. I know I was having to brake into turn 1 at around the 200m mark where normally I brake from around the 170 mark so I was finding braking distances were heaps longer than usual (turn 2 was another I regularly struggled to pull up in time for all day long).

Sorry, probably gave the wrong impression. My braking force was down on last year, just have a look at the minimum longitudinal G's - they are 1.34 for Sunday and I was getting over 1.41 G last year. I had a scan back to some old data and I have never got 1.5G's under brakes on any track is what I should have said, at least in the data that I have saved.

I agree with turn 2, a few times I thought I was going into the ditch, I just turned right and hoped for the best.

With the shitty corner grip I was getting, I was getting lousy exit speeds, no doubt giving me a lower top speed. I was not pushing the car after the spin as I wanted to drive home. :thumbsup:

So what you are effectively saying is that compared to your last visit to Sandown your braking longitudinal G's are down and your cornering lateral G's are also down - but yet you managed to set a new PB for Sandown! That's a fair effort :thumbsup:

    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch.
