What are the problems with the DR30 rear end? Is it the camber change like a 1600?

Not sure what to do with this car till we get it and see what spec it is? It ran LMS in 2001 so that would be very close to SS now. Eventual plans are for full MS build incl S13 susp and steering, RB cr g/box, serious llightening etc. Might run in an event or two as is and see where to go from there.

I saw there was an Escort in the ocean on that 2001 Targa Tape, is that the same spot as the 2 cars at Wrest Point?

Talk to Ken at Accurate Suspension 3808 2878, he has heaps of Datto experience and races one. There is a BMW 2002 that he has worked on, similar semi trailing arm suspension, which hauls axe at Lakeside, search Mr Dickie for a recent vid on YouTube, seems to handle great. As a bigger buck alternative there is always MCA of course for the best suspension, I'm sure that Murray Coote has Datto experience. With the right work the STA suspension is pretty damm good eg E30 BMW..

Good luck, keep us informed :)

Found the Mr Dickie vid

The thing is, the BMW suspension is no better than the Datto's, the difference is that BMW owners will spend money to get it right.

I like it!

And that red steering wheel will match your lipstick......

I prefer my lipstick black Benny cause I'm always sad..

Thanks for that, I hadn't thought of Ken. My wife knows him pretty well, they spent alot of time racing each other around witches hats when they were littler! I will drop in and and see him for a chat. Murrayflex (MCA) will be the preferred option eventually. Murray and Dave Feron have done quite a bit of work "developing" the 1600 rear ends over the years.

I don't really know too much of the specs of what suspension is in it already (Koni?)? Find out when it gets here I guess..

Might have to do a few laps of Lakeside to see where it is at?

Not all of us get no pants Friday! But I got my team trophy in the mail last night.

I've looked through my engine, and surprisinly the cam snap didn't put any shit through the engine, or damage the cam caps, or bend any valves! So that's a win.

Here's Mt Arrowsmith, good way to waist 30min on a Friday

How much longer are Mazda going to persist with the RX8?

Mazda is giving it one last run I think later in the year.

I heard the 3 MPS is for sale?

And given it's pants-off-Friday I have much better things to do with my time than watch 27 minutes of you and Damo huffin n puffin ;)

My rebuild is coming along. Cage, paint and most of the wiring is done, engine & gbox should be out this / next weekend and off to be screwed together in the coming weeks.

FIA padding makes for a comfy elbow rest while rebuilding!

I am going Snowy River Sprint at the end of the month.. Not 100% confirmed (IE not flights booked) and not sure what car yet though...

That FIA padding, why don't we just zip tie a brick to the cage probably be softer!

Personly I think showroom should be as the car rolled off the showroom floor, with a cage, ecu (to stop limp home, speed limiters...etc), basic shocks/springs, and possably the mufflers cut out so they sound better.... like the frogmobile

I can't go into Mazda and get a 3 MPS with front floating Brembo's, and a Kaaz diff. I can see why Octagon gives the consessions out to fix the road cars problems, but it's getting away from what showroom was a couple of years ago.

Benny its with Danny Traverso, seems like a good bloke and got a good crew. Either in an Emo 9 or a GC8 2 door. The weight is on Burkey's shoulders to give the IX the ready to race tick of approval!

Timmy that sounds cool!

We ran Showrrom back in 2005 (and won it I'll add!). Back then it was stock shocks, ECU's, mufflers etc, ... everything. Only mods were pads and tyres. That was tough getting cars through then, but unfortunately, the category didn't have the "cache" it attracts now.

I dunno where I stand on it. Depends if I run a Showroom category car anytime soon I guess! :P

    • I mean, I can confirm the TPS is at 100%.... I can confirm when we installed the TB and setup the cable that the TB was indeed fully open at max pedal travel.. the same 'curve' (WRT MAP vs MAP) existed with the previous setup/TB/manifold as well... No, we did not do a run with no intake connected. I would love to go back in time to do such a run to rule out the intake. It would have also been good to do a run with the airbox lid off. There's a test there where increased IAT vs more available air could be a positive tradeoff. I remember taking the lid off my R34 Turbo setup back in the day and noticing a monster increase, even if IAT's did go up. Could be similar. Hard to test unless I find a very deserted road.
    • That's actually encouraging to be honest. my motor was rebuild many years ago but it's probably done less than 30,000kms and fucc all limiter or drift, majority street / drag / roll racing. It'll be fine 💪🏼 I don't even have lines or a can for the cam breathers installed yet, there is zero oil residue or splatter on or around them, it drives beautifully so it seems healthy. Just a ticky lifter, yet they're almost brand new oem genuine Nissan and haven't done many kms at all...
    • Have you confirmed the throttle body goes to WOT (and stays there) during the run?
    • I'm having a problem. I think it was mentioned above somewhere but can't see it.  I'm stuck in the cycle of, sand, filler, low spot again, put filler, sand, low spot again, now i put filler again and a thicker portion which seems to have helped but I got low spots in other areas. In the image. Circled in red thats where the original low spot was and the shape is the same as the red out line. I've more or less fixed that (still low spot up the top but now I have low spots where the green circled part is.  Is likely the issue that I didn't start with a course sand paper? I sanded the filler with 240 to reduce the risk of not going to far but maybe the issue is that I'm only taking off enough material to remove some of the filler but not the high spots. I now started sanding with 120 and I think I'm seeing a difference. I did fix one dent the other 2 are f**ked and seems like I made another low spot which is indicated by the furthest green circle on the left handside. Any thoughts and solutions?   Also second image. All of these rock chips, can they be filled in with primer or do i need to fill them all with filler/putty? So many rock chips on mine lol.
    • Well, I had an Edward Lee's special edition odo windback car/motor with a RB25DET S2 and I put down 372kW with a good amount of track abuse for 1.5 years before the ring lands decided it didn't want to stick around anymore 🥲 But probably didn't help I kept on smashing try limiter on the track and a few skid pans.
