Well, i have finally decided and put a deposit down on an engine conversion kit for my N/A R33, I will be getting the engine from Just Jap, and with 31,000Km's on the clock, i think that i have done pretty well ;) , the only problem is now i have to wait!!!!

The half cut is still coming in from Japan and will be in Sydney in a few weeks after that, it needs to be pulled apart and freighted here :)

Anyone in WA ever done a conversion?

Also without an LSD will i be missing out on much, and with the rear hubs not being changed (from 4 stud to 5 stud) will this be an issue (my rims are 4/5 stud type rims so that doesn't really cause an issue), should i just by the rear hub assy, and brakes to keep it consistant with the front?

Thanks, pretty excited, but won't be excited until i'm behind the wheel of my car with the new engine.

Kris

yes well that may be true, but back when i got my GTS i could not afford insurance. Now i can but have loans outstanding, and rather than sell my car (which i have tried and failed) i thought i might convert it, it gives me something to do, and i like my car anyway.

Hey all, a south-east queenslander here :)

congrats on the -t to your gts skyliner33wa :)

ummm... i have a non turbo R34 right... i want to get me a R34 GTT 1/2 cut in a few years but my friend was giving me an idea and i dont know enough about it to consider it seriously... he was saying if i got a rb30 bottem end and added a rb25det neo head that i would pretty much have a rb30det neo... is this concept right or wouldent it work??

sorry to theive your thread :)

thanks guys, well yeah i and my sisters boyfriend will be doing it, so labour will be free which is cool, i just want a standard GTST fro now, have always wanted one now i have made the move, i know that its gonna cost me alot but you only live once, plus i'm still young. I am getting the rear Hub Assy so, all i am missing out on is the LSD, i don't mind

Thanks

Kris

i was thinking of doing the same thing with my n/a but have been told by most people that its a lot easier 2 jus buy a GTST because ill have 2 change the engine, brakes gearbox blah blah blah and it will take a long time

also just wondering wat does it get insured as? a modified GTS? or a GTST? and because it wasn't originally a GTST does this mean that insurance will b higher then a GTST?

well, cause me and my sisters boyfriend will be doing it labour will be free, yeah it would be easier to buy a gtst but i can't afford it, plus i wanna do my own thing, about insurance, havn't really found that out yet, but i will tommorow, got an insurance broker i'll go thru

Hi,

just interested to know how much it cost for the engine and parts etc, i will be looking to do the same thing in a year or so and want to know as much as possible before i go ahead with modifying my GTS..

also just a thought but for the same amount of money, is it just easier to get the same amoun tof power or more from the RB25DE?? leaving it N/A?

this would be a perfect oputunity to do a rb30det conversion insted, pity you have already purchased the front cut.

You should really ask these questions BEFORE putting money down.

werd.

for those talking about turbocharging an NA, and who havent yet committed funds, get yourself to the induction performance thread on this site and read about Rb30dets.

    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?
    • @Duncan I can try  and thanks i did not thought about VIN and part numbers for 33/34. @GTSBoy yeah it looks like iam gonna do that
    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
