Last month at the Powerplay Imports day they were doing 1:09:5s - from memory that was a totally stock car, stock tyres etc...

My inital response was just going to be... "Quick!"... lol

Was it dry. That is a decent time...only i would have expected it to be 3 to 4 seconds quicker

hmm I don't know that they were the world's best driver, but I don't think it has another 3-4 seconds on those tyres, probably only 1 or 3. remember its only got about as much power as your average vic track gtr, and 300kg more.

Yeh i suppose the tyres could have been shagged. But looking at how quick they are in all the magazine comparisons...the 997 GT2 does 1:04s at Wakefield. Russ kicked butt at Superlap in his doing i think 1:15s or 1:16s which compared to what the other cars were doing and their respective times at Wakefield...well i would have expected at least 1:06s.

But yes, perhaps tyres were shagged

I don't think thats a decent time at all.

sub 10's is mediocre these days. You need 8's or better to be considered quick

The NA silvia i just bought has a best of 1:09.3 at wakefield (natsoft) on the old surface. It has 120 rwkw....

You're right to expect 6's roy

This car was at the Eastern Creek private practise day on Friday 24th.

Certainly was not very quick - or was not as quick as I expected. I actually overtook him underbrakes into turn 2. I think they were just testing as opposed to trying to go flat out as I imagine it would be alot quicker that that.

In the 4th session the cars motor blew! It was sitting on the grass and had dropped oil on the track. They cancelled the session as a result.

Not a cheap track day eh ?

    • Sorry I haven't been following all the detail, so you may have tried this. Does it idle with the tiniest bit of throttle you can add? You've mentioned the IACV, does it have an AAC valve and have you adjusted it at all (ie, screw the idle adjust screw all the way in, then back it out a couple of turns until idle is stable)?
    • My bad, I unplugged the one underlined in red instead of yellow before. With the car started, after unplugging the IACV (the one underlined in yellow), it idled at around 400/500 for 3 seconds before stalling. Attempting to start the car without the IACV will not start the car.   It does stutter and sputter for around 5 seconds before dying. However, immediately after starting it, you can already hear some slight sputters from the exhaust.   It won't start with the AFM unplugged. If it is when the car has already started, it stalls in a few seconds.   Yesterday, I did take some logs using Nistune of 3 scenarios. Car idling till it stalls Car idling and unplugging the IACV Car idling and removing the AFM I also have some previous logs of when the Car is idling till it stalls and when driving and it cuts. I am not really knowledgeable enough to understand what to look for. After every test, car idles rougher and rougher, until I have to stop. It will be fine the day after.
    • There is no difference between a 17x8 and an 18x8. The total diameter of the tyre needs to remain +/- the same (so you don't mess up the gearing, speedo reading, and clearance when turning front wheels..... so you just need to use a lower profile tyre on th 18 than you do on the 17. /rocket surgery.
    • I thought the same to start with. But then I thought it was one of those LCAs where the end of the ARB goes through a bushing in the LCA itself, instead of having an end link.
    • Yeah - I mean, go the other way. Smaller range. Not larger.
